Got a phone call from "HSBC" (=no way) giving me my name and half the date of birth, asking for the other half....suggesting to discuss about savings account etc...

just said that is not possible!! bye!!

If they call you i should be the one asking the questions to verify is he HSBC employee, not him calling me and asking me..

how about answering the call .. ??

Good to know unfortunately when I rang the bank they told me it definitely isn't your number as such I've asked the UK TPS to block it as a bogus number. Good luck sorting that out! Maybe a bit more customer service/knowledge would have prevented this whole mess. The worlds local bank calling from a generic non-geographical number great work again guys you're really putting customers at ease.

They called me saying they got a missed call from my number... I definately haven't called them before.. don't even know who they are.. something strange going on there!

Said they were from the HSBC but told me they were not obliged to give out thier last name due to Data protection??????????? very suspect?

Sick of this number ringing.  They either ask to speak to me then hang up or just sit there silent then hang up.  Tried ringing back but it goes dead.
If this continues I will be changing banks.

on answering to this number the line immediately went dead.. (I am XD..so who is it?)

Had a call from this number asking for my partner, when i asked who was calling he wouldn't tell me and said he was a friend of my partners then put the phone down. If he was a friend surely he would know he was at work and not need to ask for his mobile number. A bit odd really not very professional if it is hsbc

If it's HSBC, why are they calling me? I haven't got an account with them nor have I requested them to call me. They have called 3 times and not left a message.

When you call the number you get "You were called by HSBC. No further action is necessary."

they just called ,I picked up the receiver and stayed silent - after all they called me so I thought they would have something to say ...no , they hung up .

I have been receiving calls from this number on several occasions. I think it is a scam.

Just had two missed calls from the number. Only my very close friends and family have my mobile so I don't know how they obtained it, unless they are just ringing numbers at random. I don't, nor never have banked with HSBC.

Should have added to the above that on the second call, it showed my friend's name underneath the number. I knew that the number being displayed was not her mobile number.

Definitely NOT HSBC. This is some kind of Phishing exercise or something, but definitely NOT HSBC

Even though there seem to be some on here convinced it is HSBC but I think not... as the number they called me on is not even a number that my bank have. DO NOT PROVIDE ANY DETAILS "I am sure you all already know that though :-)""

just called me, confirmed my name and asked whether I'd like to switch to different type of saving account. didnt ask for any details. nothing really suspicious actually...

This is a legit number. It was my mortgage advisor calling back from HSBC.
