We've had about 40 calls from these people over the last couple of working days. They seem to be a company who call themselves something different each time they call you.
They were trying to get me to sign up for electricity for our business over the phone. I went along with it for a couple of minutes until they started asking for bank details.
I said I would rather not give them my details unless I was calling them myself, and the woman hung up on me.

Would you believe I then had a call about 3 minutes later from a different woman at the same place asking if I wanted to set an account up... She walked into that line of fire a little.
So yeah, don't give these people any details.

We received a call from 0845 689 1573 saying they were a company called Select Energy and that they were calling regarding our tenancy agreement.  They named our electricity supplier and said they had received the meter readings from them but needed further details to register our meters.  I took their number saying I would call them back.  I phoned our electricity supplier and they confirmed it was not a legitimate call, they are a broker and do this to try and get details from you to lure you in to a contract without you realising it.  Do not give them any details.

Just been scammed by this Select Energy Direct. They told me i was paying emergency electric of double the price and there job was to find the cheapest in the area. I thought it was a legit company there to help. I got another phone call the next day from a different company, they were half the price. I rang this Select Energy Direct and they say i agreed to a contract over the phone and there's no cooling off period. They lied about every thing so it was under false pretenses. I am now waiting to see if npower are going along with this scam . MORE TO FOLLOW

    Good Contact
These Guys have been aggressively selling/miss-selling and miss-handling consumer Data for years.

They Buy data from various sources including:
    .Thompson
.Royal Mail (When you register to change address)
    plus various others

Director and very much head office backroom staff is Kailey Smith
Share holder and Partner to Kailey is Chris Palmer .....who oversees the sales staff.
    Stephen Nightingale...Sales Manager
    The several highly aggressive saleman/women

    Tatic:

To sell N-power/Opus contracts at 25% ish percent above the national average over a 36 month period (this gives them higher rate of commission from the supplier RWE Npower) there common tactic is to tell you that you are on out of contract rates (sometimes reffered to as Deemed rates) because you have just moved in.

When you refute this and tell them you have already sorted you supplier they will them tell you that they are a company who deals with the change of supply for all suppliers (NOT TRUE AND NO SUCH BODY EXISTS)  and that the supply has failed to go through on this occasion. This simply is not true. They will then try to get you to sign with Npower or Opus stating these are either the cheapest or MOST COMPETITIVE in the area.

    Again absolute rubbish

You are Ok as long as you dont go through a recorded part of the call with them.If you have you MUST contact you existing supplier ASAP and tell them to "OBJECT TO THE SUPPLIER TAKING OVER THE SUPPLY" (either Npower or Opus) But you must act quickly to do this.

You can also raise complaints with chris billing (head of indirect sales RWE npower) about this company.
Also if you are contacted more than once a day by them you can register a complaint with the ICO
    http://www.ico.org.uk/complaints/marketing
    http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/number_type.html

The best advice i can give you is that if any company calls to tell you that your supply has not gonr through correctly or you are on Out of contracted rates is to give them the dial tone and ring your supplier and they will sort out all issues with out costing you an arm and a leg.

I will be honest I have dealt with this company now on two occasions, First time yes I was to say the least worried about what was going on, Now after several weeks of let's saying messing about a lady called Lyn Barnes assisted me in my contract with NPowe.. And because of this literally just last week I have phoned back to sort out my contracts for my other new business premises and hope this goes as well as the other. Now reading the comment above I can only thinking that due to poor spelling and grammar this just can't correct.... If anyone would like my number please leave message below and I will happily call you for confirmation of my select energy process.

And they were so good you searched out a site used to report unknown, unwanted and scam calls to see if they were mentioned?  The post above yours was days ago so you didn't find it by accident.  Now why on earth would you do that?  I think "honest" might be stretching the truth a little.  The post above yours also sets out the facts quite clearly.  So perhaps "I can only thinking" is good English as far as you are concerned.  I would not recommend that anyone contacts you, unless they want to hear misinformation.

Was called today by someone, male, saying he was from the same company named above but the call came from number with held. Very politely told them no thank you and asked them to take us of their calling list as registered with the tps. He said that meant you'd prefer us to call you. (Being fascious me thinks!) I then asked him again to take us off his list and that if he called again I would contact the ICO to log a complaint. He then told me to go ahead and do it because he'd used a fictious company name! Then the abuse began. He mumbled something and i asked him to repeat it as
I didn't catch the comment. Four times he mumbled the comment after I asked him to repeat it! He said " Die of cancer". I laughed. Because I laughed he called me  [***] [***], which made me laugh even more! Then he said he was going to sell my number to every single cold calling company that he could! Needless to say, I have just been called again by a with held number! May not be the same sweetheart but..........

    New business
Was called yesterday by Select Energy and told that our new shop was on an emergency meter with EDF  that was costing about twice what we should be paying.  They offered to check on their price comparison site and offered me a deal  with NPower for apparently about half the price.  I mistakenly thought they were a genuine price comparison company and agreed to sign up for a 3 year deal.  I could kick myself now as I did give them my bank details for a direct debit payment.

Anyway, today I thought I would just check up on the prices offered on a well know price comparison website and have found that the deal I have agreed to is significantly higher than many available on the market.  I've called back on the number I was given and apparently my 'account manager' Alice isn't in today.  But I've now also read the comments above and seem the trouble others have had in cancelling a contract made over the phone.  Any suggestions?  I thought under distance selling regulations there would be a cooling off period

    Honest john
I've recently found out that the comany select energy/blue bank solutions has now moved  to Calder court off any Johnson way, not sycamore trading estate. We've had a bad experience with this company. They are nothing more than organised ametuer fraudsters that ring you up misrepresenting them selves as meter registrations and scare you into thinking your paying an emergency energy tarrif, my advice is always do your home work if something sounds to good to be true it normally is.If you have had problems with this company my advice would be get in contact with trading standards immediately even if you haven't signed up you can stop any other business falling for this trap, the more complaints they get the quicker trading standards will take action against these con artists, or  if you have a good legal team start proceedings against the company, from what I know from my own research they are a very small team of employees, the company employ anyone basically that can talk a lot of speal, they are payed high commission to deceive you into a better deal that does not exist.

I received some withheld calls from this number, saying I was on an emergency tariff charged at double normal rate.  They knew the name of my business and when my tenancy began. I asked who they were and said they were Changeoftenancy.com.  I was then asked to stay on hold so they could verify something, I waited for a bit and hung up. They then rang back and left a voicemail asking me to call Mr Holburn on 08456891573.  That's as far as I will go after reading similar experiences on here, glad I did!
