    wondering replies to Danny
My apologies Danny -I stand corrected- I should have said OE has had the potential to be a wonderful company- sorry danny i know the internals of OE and I know that there are a lot of great people in there who have slogged their hearts out and and in my view do not always agree with the way the company has been run.

OE could have been a wonderful company if it was not for David Moulsdales poor leadership , in my view greed, and those so called 'senior professionals/ managers' who have let Moulsdale make the mess of OE that he has.

Well done guys I hope you are all very proud of yourselves.

    Employees  ,

So now we have seen that Moulsdale is going to be happy to close stores with very little notice to you guys.
It's ok for him because he has made his money .

The question is that for those of you who remain - I think that if I was moulsdale id be looking for a buyer immediately .
How long do you think it will be before Moulsdale sells ?

Optical Express Group has filed a notice to appoint administrators on one of its subsidiaries which could result in the closure of around 40 stores according to Property Week.

    www.companyrescue.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/optical-express-files-notice-of.html

Why change name to "123 Leeds Limited" at this stage?! Very curious!!

Coincidence that this was timed to immediately follow JJB Sports closure.

    Lots more in the press

    FAO  Optical Express (ex)employees:

Re "It is understood around 40 stores could be axed. However, the company said it would redeploy affected staff so job losses would be less than 100."

Are you one of the "less than 100", or have you been redeployed?

I would be interested to hear from anyone able to provide more info & facts

Come on moulsdale please tell us all why you are so interested in ' building bridges with china '  at the conference in Cambridge later this year .Surely RBS aren't going to fall over themselves to lend you any more money to buy Chinese companies - so what could it be ?

are you really building your bridge for when you finally do a runner ?
Is an unsuspecting Chinese buyer your exit strategy  ?

Oh yea moulsdale - have you noticed that nobody from your 'fan club ' seems to be pitching up here to fight your corner? Quite a reality check isn't it ?

To ORMLinfo - its being under reported! the real story is that over 60 have been closed, staff and optometrists are being laid off.  I don't know how they are going to only amass 100 job losses when I know of at least 20 in stores that are close by. The official story is that the lease is up on properties but as we can see / it's not true.

fascinating  to hear about OE and Ultralase speculation  though reminds me of the days when Moulsdale thought he was going to buy Boots Opticians and maybe even become the next Bill Gates.

    reading the Herald article

1."The decision to restructure was in the best interests of the business, our people and our customers and that decision was 100% taken by the board, led by David'

Sorry Moulsdale if you were interested in the best interests of your customers you would not have in my view one of the worst reputations in the industry for delaying and avoiding refunds.
If you were interested in your people, you would not be trying to hit on your young staff, tell lies and not even give reasonable notice to your employees that you were closing at least 40 stores. You would have told them personally.
yes we all know you are interested in the best interests of your business but im wondering- if you had the best interests of the business at heart in my view your Wikipedia page would not look like it does today. Is it really just money and perceived status that interests you?

    2. Mr Blin said he would be supporting the board in dealing "with some short-term trading challenges but, more importantly, the strategic development of the business".

Sorry Moulsdale I thought that you were supposed to be responsible for the strategic development of Optical Express, is that not what you have been trying to do when you entered the specs/Contact lens market? Im sure you have been quoted to want to buy boots opticians? what happened to that?
Im guessing your strategic advantage involved having as many stores as possible  and buying stores and small companies as part of your growth strategy_ geographical coverage etc  so why are you closing them? Is it that your plan failed? ( shouldnt have) . What is your declining performance in the spectacle market about? wasnt that a part of the strategic development that you were responsible for- the plan that involved you hoping to  buy boots opticians?

    3. (Optical Express ) 'It faces intense competition from the likes of Boots, supermarkets and online operations'

The optical market is predicted to grow-my view is dont blame it on the competition-

    4. If Ultralase was sold to OE then that is bad for Ultralase
Firstly I think it possible  a lot of Ultralase employees would rather ditch their jobs and run than work for Moulsdale.
Secondly, actually in my view Moulsdale is starting to show a track record of not quite making his plan- and I think he  takes no pride in his company- Im not sure in my view that he is really bothered too much about the company performance as long as he gets money and is having fun.

If Moulsdale tried to buy Ultralase firstly I think bankers should be wary - he should not in my opinion be loaned any more money for any kind of 'strategic development' until he starts making the current company he has downsized perform.

I think he can take out all the competition he likes like trying to buy companies like Ultralase  but the truth is that that particular strategy of many stores and buying companies hasnt done him any favours in the spectacle and contact lens market- clearly he coudnt make it work previously so why should bankers believe that he can make that work in laser especially after hes closed so many stores - ?

I think it possible and probably more importantly now- that he may want to wish he could  hide behind the Ultralase name- I think there has been persistant damage to the OE brand over the last few years- and Moulsdale really needs to sell. Maybe he is now considering rebranding  to distance the company from the OE name  if he isnt already trying to find a buyer!

    5. Finally a possible reason why Optical Express South had been changed to 123Leeds Ltd last minute.
an attempt at Damage control for the papers I think is the likely reason. The public wold otherwise have read 'Optical Express South ' going into administration which would possibly have a bigger impact on the business- laser patients possibly  may avoid shopping with companies that are coming across as being in trouble as would most customers.

6 Like I said Moulsdale please sell. Maybe someone should be performance managing you for a change. If you need Blin to help you you cant be that good at your job and maybe someone else could do a better job than you are.

Re the wiki page .why does moulsdale/oe write 6 percent of the 55 percent multiple controlled market ?

Show the real figure ? What percentage does moulsdale have of the optical goods market -  should it be 6 percent of the whole market  or should it be 6 percent of 55 percent ?

Let's put the real percentage on please ?

Because in my opinion moulsdale is not a businessman . In my view he does not take any pride in his company or the responsibilities he has towards his employees or customers .

The way I see it  moulsdale is out to have as good time as he possibly can .

Well done moulsdale I'm sure you are the pride of this industry . ( joke ) .

Do you think that OE will open some of the stores they have closed down or have they just closed shops and just going to concentrate on the flagship stores?
