just been called by some douche at this number

started as a silent call, then they mashed the keys on the phone. had a great 5 minutes of mashing my keypad back, after being told that I'd get bored before she would, I took that as a challenge, she had to go through two supervisors before they finally hung up on me

Got a call from this number it went.

Me: Hello
Him: Oh sorry I think I've got the wrong number?
Me: OK bye
Him: Bye
*click

SUSPICIOUS AS F * * K!

So it seems from a search that they do this all the time. DOUBLE SUSPICIOUS AS F * * K!

Is it someone seeing if the a property is occupied? A bailiff? A burglar?
Is it a scam to get you to call back and spend a fortune on a call?
Is it a prank?
It seems no one knows.

TRIPLE SUSPICIOUS AS F * * K!

I shall keep a watch out and update this post if anything happens that I can relate to the call.
*nervous now - don't like my home line nearly as much as my mobile. :( #TimesHaveChanged.

I'm now thinking it's from a company who are now going to sell my details to a tonne of other companies who are then going to phone me non stop at this time of day.

Oh well, I won't be here. I'm on a day off.

A silent call hung up during my IVR - they called my BT line, amazingly got caller ID through but hung up after hearing the "not recommended" message. No idea what it would have been about.

Am in the UK, this number called at 18.35. I didnt pick up, like many others, I dont pick my phone up at all any more, so now of course I am always having to call genuine callers back. This is costing me dearly, all because these stupid people go round hassling us for rubbish that most of us dont want. I get get almost as much junk on my phone now as i do thru the letterbox.

Today about 1:30pm
Me: Hello.
Them: (Office background noise) Hi I'm David calling from ..
Me: *click

Who are they - no reply when dialled?

the same has happened to me, as soon as i answered they hang up!!!!!!!!! have the decency to answer when i pick up the phone especilly when you wake up my baby

08708507619 rang me. I picked up the phone but they hung straight up. Have tried ringing back twice but nobody answers. After typing the number into Google, I find this number has been being nuisance for about 4 years now.

11/10/2011 - 12:00 I got a call from this number, 45 minutes after taking another from a robot, the robot hung up first when met with persistent silence. I don't answer my phone with a greeting so when I heard nothing on the line I kept on listening and sure enough there was the tell tale click of been rerouted, but the line remained silent after that.
Here's my theory: the company gets paid to run auto-dialler robots from another number but have to verify the numbers they call which they use 08708507619 to do, I must have inadvertently triggered a verifier from my response to the robot.
Somehow they count on you to hang-up so I left my line open for 30 minutes until the wife hung-up, that should stackup their bill!
