- MoroHi, thanks for all the info guys.. I actually cancelled my credit card after receiving a letter from Free and Easy. I never made any "purchase" with them as they mentioned in the letter but I have bought some space bags too, very fishy!..
Before I cancelled the cc I tried to call the company but always got the message of wrong number or "doesn't exist" so just wondering for future readers: which prefix did you used to call this company? I tried the 0034 but nothing..any advice for the future victims? - Pat PAnother brochure arrived in the post this morning from Simply Home Entertainment: Music and Memories.
Another brochure gone back in the post box without a stamp.
I wonder when they'll get the message?- Caller: Free & Easy

- JP replies to Andaluci| 5 repliesI have today received the same letter/catalogue from this free&easy lifestlye company, I was never informed of a membership and certainly not informed of a fee of £99. I have contacted my bank to alert them but after spending about an hour being transferred to various people I was then informed they cannot cancel this possible transaction-I would have to wait until the money came out and then claim it back!! I am extremely concerned that this scam has been reported numerous times (going back to October 2010) and it is still ongoing in August 2011!! What is the point in reporting it !!
- jp replies to JP| 4 repliesJust an update on my previous message. I rang the 0871 number and spoke to Lynsey from this company and explained that I had not agreed to this membership. She was very apologetic and informed me that she would therefore cancel it but I am still debating whethether or not to cancel my bank card.
- Steve D replies to jp| 2 repliesCancel your card as they may try this again in a month or two. And this company has been scamming for a lot longer before this it was called Travelsteps Club then Break 4 Free and now Free and Easy! All have been run by the same people already listed elsewhere on these posts.
- jp replies to Steve DFor peace of mind I have now, cancelled my bank card but the cancellation period is 30 days so my bank has set up internet banking for me. Hopefully as I have cancelled the card no money should be taken but at least I can easily check.
- Mary Lowndes| 2 repliesI got the very same letter,I'm just wondering should I ring them?as I never received a phone call from them, but It said in the letter that they were talking to me.
- Cam replies to Mary LowndesIf you don't ring them or cancel your card they will go ahead and take the money from your account or charge your credit card,so it's not really up for debate, unless you don't mind handing over money for nothing.
- MARTmy parents have just recieved the same letter. theyve gone to bank to cancel any debits set up by these scum bags.

- Erick273I found my way on to this site as I received a letter from free & easy today. Since the phone number you mention appears on the letter I have decided to report it. I have taken steps to prevent the payment being made. As far as I knowe I need take no further action.
- BrendaI have just recieved a letter and brocher from Free & Easy Lifestyle. The letter stated that my membership was due for renewal....I have never heard of them before....They said they would bill my bank account with a one off fee of £99.99. 30days from the date on the letter,,,,I was gobsmacked....I rang them on the number 08712203097,( which was on the letter) to cancel any "membership" I might have had, and told them not to take any money out of my bank account.
I am now going to ring my Bank and let them know about it all.So if any one else get something similar....Ring them up and CANCEL, and also ring you're Bank. - Parsley| 1 replyI have a friend who has just told me she received a simlar/same letter from Free & Easy Lifestyle. The phone nuber 0871 2242255 is all over it. There's an address: Buzon 150, Calle Diamante 19, Pl La Ermita 29603, Marbella, Malaga, Span. Return address on the envelope: ES 739575 Greenford UB187ES. She said she had used her bank account by phone for purchases from Damart and Heather Valley. The letter said she would be charged £99 from her bank account so she phoned the company and has told her bank.

- Kay replies to MJLeo| 3 repliesI also picked up on a £99.99 unauthorised transaction on my credit card. I rang the number on the statement and was told I had agreed to take up the membership during a non-existant telephone call. When I asked for a transcript of the so-called phone call and details of what they held on their files about me, I was told it was illegal for them to pass info to me about me! The Company was FREE & EASY. The girl on the phone said this Company gets information from any one of 50 companies who pass details to them - F & Easy then supposedly send out invitation material which is 'time sensitive' meaning if we don't tick the box to say we don't want membership then they assume we do want to join and charge our card accordingly. I did not receive any call or papers or advertising material from the Company. When asked who gave them permission/authorisation to use my card in the first place, I was told that as I had made a purchase from another Company using my card then the information had been passed to them by one of the 50 companies who'd done cold calling. The girl said she was based in Spain and gave me an address but refused to give me any further information. I told her what they were doing was a scam and it was illegal for them to possess personal information about me, particularly using my cr card info, without authority and I would pass the details on to the cr card company's fraud department which I did - she then said she would refund and it would be in my account in 10 days (which means they still have my card details on file). I immediately rang the card. IT PAYS TO BE VIGILANT.
- Kay replies to ParsleyJust read your message - See my message reply to Parsley. I can see from your nessage tht one Company we have in common is DAMART and I have to admit to buying a few things from them. So I will call them tomorrow and ask for a Senior Customer Services Manager and see if they can explain as to whether they passed my cr card details on to Free & Easy Travel.. Meantime my cr card has been cancelled and I now await the £99. 99 refund from Free & Easy which raises another question i.e. how can they do the refund if they are supposed to delete the info after a transaction. So, this means they are still holding onto my cr card information, including the security number which I don't think works as a secure means of using the card or as a deterrent. If they don't refund in the 10 days then the Card Company will do a 'Charge-back transaction'. Even tho I can afford to send a cheque for purchases, or even give a Debit Card, I don't. I ALWAYS purchase with a cr card if only for the protection it gives.
- Kay replies to LouI hope you got this sorted out. I found out the number is re-routed and is taken in England even tho they say they are in Spain. So, go ahead and give them a call and demand a refund then contact your card company. They will be able to do a 'charge back' if it is within 60 days but may still do it outside the 60 days in exceptional circumstances. If your debit card was used without authority then the bank will also do a refund for you.
- Kay replies to Mary LowndesThey said the very same to me. I didn't get any call or any papers or advertising materials. It's a scam. See my replies below. Go ahead and call them as it will be to an English number. Get your refund and also call the card company and let them know what has happened.
- Kay replies to jpRing the bank and tell them what has happened. They will cancel the card and arrange for a new bank card and you can even use the same PIN.
- Steve D replies to Kay| 2 repliesIgnore anything they say about being in Spain it's all run from the UK
