- Kushal replies to andrew| 4 repliesHi Andrew, I had the same issues as the others with Appyclub. They sent a text about 3 weeks ago saying that I've registered with them and will be charged $10/week. I ignored it as I thought it was a scam only to receive 2 further texts for the next 2 weeks. To my horror I found that I have been charged $30. I contacted Customer services and they washed their hands clean saying that third party charges were nothing to do with them so I went personally to the Vodafone store. Again no joy and typical of most customer services departments in WA. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am worried that this sort of thing may happen again!
- RichieI'm glad to see Vodafone were helpful! I received the SMS messages today and had no idea what was happening as I haven't subscribed to anything. I called Vodafone straight away and they said they were unable to stop any charges as it was a third party involved - a response I was not happy with. They then has me on hold for a while and came back and said they had called the number and unsubscribe me which I had also done while on hold. I still have to wait and see if the charges come through. Hopefully if I am charged Vodafone will be as willing to refund me - especially as I've been with them for over 7 years!!

- Ticked| 1 replyThis is definitely 8z Pty Ltd. A copy of their complaints handling document that clearly shows the number 1300 886534 can be found at http://cdnhost2.mobileactive.com/uploads/docs ... LING_POLICY.pdf
Although it appears that they are now called GlobalOne Mobile Entertainment Pty Ltd
The Australian Communications and Media Authority website is a good read www.acma.gov.au
For example:
Under the Spam Act 2003 it is illegal to send, or cause to be sent, unsolicited commercial electronic messages. The Act covers email, instant messaging, SMS and MMS (text and image-based mobile phone messaging) of a commercial nature. It does not cover faxes, internet pop-ups or voice telemarketing.
You can find out details of the sender from the website www.19sms.com.au

- AdamI have been billed $15 so far.... Rang Vodaphone who gave me a number to text 'STOP' to and they would block the service their end. However, they gave me mobileactive help line number 1300 886 534 to sort out a refund. Mobileactive said I can unsubscribe ( to a services I NEVER SUBSCRIBED TO) but CAN'T?? refund the money. What a SCAM!!! I don't want to chew the ear off the fella at Vodaphone but I don't see any other way of getting my money back, and stopping future charges!

- Lee replies to KushalHi.
I just had the same case. All 1300 number in the bill , they never answer the phone.
I called to Vodafone and complained it and told them I need to terminate contract with Vodafone if it happens next month again even I unsubscribed. The manager checked with other people and asked me to call 1300556761 which is not in the bill. I talked to them and they said that I need to send the email to help@g1.com.au with case number (So you need to call 1300556761 first)
Please unsubscribe from 1300 number or send the SMS to 194888 with STOP message. Also try 77815 as well just in case.
Hope it helps.
Lee - BenSame experience. i called Optus and pushed it until they agreed to refund me and block the damn number. The more it costs the telcos, the more likely they'lll take action against these crims.

- IshiI am currently on the phone to Optus, they are refunding $75 and barring the number. Being armed with this information has been most helpful. But I'm not stopping here, tomorrow I will email, Fair trade, the ACCC , the telecommunications Ombudsmen and the stock exchange. This is against every regulatory law we have. Take back what's yours and use the right language, usually those listed above is enough for any business or company to back flip and it worked for me ;) good luck and thanks to those who shared.

- ScammedThe same thing happened to me. Like an earlier commenter I contracted this scam third party texting thing from using a flashlight app and accidentally clicking on an advert. I never even saw the advert and just closed the program - clearly it was too late. It is not fair at all. I never agreed to anything or was even aware of anything. this flashlight app sgould also be in big trouble too. unforetunately i dont renember the name of that app. if anyone knows it please list it so we can get something done about that app too. Anyway I have replied 'stop' to this third party scamming text thing and apparently I'm unsubscribed now. Hopefully I am it ends up being about $80 worth of extra fees :( I thought it was from using my hotspot but I was wrong :(

- MaxStarted randomly getting texts from AppyCkub, and like most folk, I just deleted them. Few weeks layer found I had been charged iver $100 for recieving these SMS's. Rang Optus up furious, and they barred the number while removing the charges. Just got more texts from those pricks AppyClub again. Gonna give Optus a mouthful tonight. This is flipping unacceptable!

- michelleMy child 18yrs, pressed on an add with in a free app site that she has been using with out problem. Soon after she started to receive appy club sms which she ignored as she assumed it was not for her. On her phone will there are extra feees at $4.55 per text, three of them sent at the same time on the same day and two a week later at the same time, from the same number from this provider. She did not even have her ph on as she was out of range and therefore the message was sent multiple times. I did a google search and found that optus, vodaphone and Telstra customers had all been making complaints about this third party making charges through the to their accounts. My daughter did not subscribe to anything, just opened it to have a look. Also, all of the posts I have read have indicated the same thing. You cannot get through to a person on the help number and they do not call back. I flatly refuse to pay that portion of the bill. This is a scam. Telstra has it uploaded on their crowd support site.

$50 in charges on my husbands phone, he didnt realise he was being charged he just thought it was advertising or something so ignored it - SamI hate you Appyclub. Should be called shitclub.
Appyclub is the biggest scamer, they have been sending me msgs, I dont know how they got my number.
I tired their website which is not working and has a msg asking to login to the website from my handset. (which i obviously didnot)
THIEVES.
Guys, Call your service provider, ask for the premium sms to be barred. Keep in mind that this will barre all the premium sms not just the appyshitclub.
I got my money back through vodafone after 43 min of yelling and complaining.
I even requested for the appyclub third party to be looked at more closely so problem will not persist in the future.
Good luck to all.

- Anna replies to TickedEasy to report to ACMA. Just forward SMS straight to them with no alteration or added text on 0429 999888.
Done! - Alan H - 53 replies to sabathJust received a bill from Vodafone which logged $50.50 against 11 separate AppyClub-8z items, dated between 25-05-13 and 22-06-13. No prior costs as far as I can tell.
I recall seeing brief notes flash over at the top of my iphone occasionally but thought they were incidental notices, similar to spam emails or sms items, i.e. benign. I can find no 'app' on my iphone which may be triggering the downloads.
It seems this company's biz-plan may in part be to entrap kids with (parents) deep pockets and elderly people unsure of how to manage.
Totally out of order. No benefit anywhere other than to AppyClub as far as I can tell. - ALAN H - 53 replies to Kushal| 2 repliesKUSHAL
I rang the queries phone number 1300886534 requesting termination of the service last night and thismorning a bright young male voice (which seemed to be located in a small resonant space - unfurnished office maybe . . . . .) advised after a short helpful conversation, that if I emailed . . . . . refunds@g1.com.au stating my mobile ph. no and a request to terminate, they would refund the $50.50+ I had been charged to date.
He advised this refund should be processed in 2 - 3 weeks.
I remain hopeful this will come to pass.
It seems the service may have been triggered by my 12yo son who downloaded an 'Autumn Sunset' graphic on 25-05-13, with the charges flowing from that date. Essentially they have charged me $10/week probably because my young son wanted a picture of a sunset, perhaps to post on Instagram!
