Called my cell @ 11:14am PST. No message. I'm in the U.S. All my numbers are on the national do not call list but I still recieve calls. Appears this is a solicitor using a number generator. Doubtful they are using any particular list, at least initially. Conceivably, the machine separates the active numbers and then filtered to an idiot solicitor.
One deterrence I have use is to record and play a disconnected number message narrative and tone signal. Many auto-call machines will register the tone as inactive and remove your number from the list. If the call is live (from a so-called human solicitor) they may be pursuaded to remove your number from the list.
Either way, keep complaining. I'm expecting soliciting to become worse with the economy. Sorry to be such a pessimist, just trying to be a realist.

I'm on Telus just got a call from this number.  Been happening a lot recently...different numbers, same crap.

Beware!  They are a scam running 2 deals... they are selling credit card insurance and car insurance.  Both are scams.  They know they are breaking the law calling into Canada.  When you get their operators they will not let you speak to a supervisor and they will not take you off their lists.   Their autodialers use fear tactics to get you to speak with them.  They nailed a friend of my moms for $5000 on an additional car lease insurance, all fraudulent.  She's in her 80's and gave them her credit card over the phone.  These people are scammers.

Just got a call from this # 202-495-7170. Was about to pick up but then decicided to google it. I am glad I didnt pick the phone. I wonder when ur in the mall shopping and they ask you for ur phone #. Are they selling those #s to the telemarketers?

Just got a call too. Rogers network. I was hoping it was the car insurance scammers because I was going to try to connect to a live person and ream him/her out, but all I got was dead air. They have called my cell, from various numbers, about six times now. If they are legit, they should be shut down for random calling. If they are not legit, they should be prosecuted. Not sure who could make it happen though.

Recorded message saying I had only a few days left to lower my credit card interest.
Another wonderful scam.

This number 202-495-7170 called my Telus cell phone, here in Ontario, Canada. I didn't answer. They left no voicemail. Found all this when I googled the number. I'll ignore future calls.

Got a Call from 202 495 7170 from "Rachel"'s automated voice. She called to tell me that My Credit card status is "OK" but if I want to lower my interest rates to press 1. otherwise press 3. and then promptly hung up on me.
How rude. :P

Got a call from this number about 5 minutes ago. Didn't pick it up. I'm also a Rogers customer.

Unfortunately, I added my numbers to the DNCL last fall, and that list has been sold to/fallen into the hands of US telemarketers. I'm working on removing my numbers, but the damage may be done already.

You can report all these unwanted calls about expired vehicle warranties and insurance to 1-877-IBC-TIPS. I don't know what kind of results you will experience (i.e., the phone calls stop) but at least the number will be investigated.

I received two consecutive calls from this number and they left no message--they also called my cell phone and it is w/AT&T. I called the number back and immediately it said "If you would like to be placed on our do not call list for our future specials and offers please press 1. So I did. The recording said it would take 24 hours for the confirmation to take place.

So just call the number back and press 1! At first I called it back from my home phone and realized I needed to call from the phone that they had called so I called back from my cell phone and did the same thing....I hope it works...I will check back and let you know if it doesn't!
