I have been called 6 times in the last 2 days! Don't answer it!

Just got a call from the same number - heavy Pakistani accent told me my computer was sending out error messages - he claimed to be from Windows - when I told him that Windows should e-mail me with the problem - he actually told me to f*** off.

This guy has called me a few times to tell me my computer was going to crash. The first time I played dumb and told him I didn't own a computer.  He got really flustered and hung up.  Now if I answer I tell them I have a MAC (which I do) and don't use Windows...always good for a laugh.

I have rec`d about 10 calls from this #,when I answer the call it says, Good Bye!!I have called back,A man Named Dave Jenkins answers ,but says he is not the one calling,he has no idea who is doing it.?????

This number has called both my cell phone and home number at least 3 times each.  Usually I hear a click and we disconnected.  This time, a foriegn voice answered claiming to want to fix my Microsoft due to the problems I've been reporting.....so I got to hang up on him this time.  At least now I know it's not someone I know in Washington trying to call me.  Maybe I can have fun messing with them next time.  Thanks google for finding me this site to confirm the scam!

Yeah, I'm also on the West Coast and getting several of these calls. That advice to contact the FTC and the Seattle FBI nearest Microsoft could help if it's a crime that's committed by someone actually on U.S. soil, though I think that the devious perps making these fraudulent calls are clever enough to be foreign-based. Besides, all our domestic agencies are understaffed and are too busy with problems under their own jurisdictions to pay more attention to the potential foreign cybercriminals trying to pick off we computer users one-at-a-time here. Too bad really. Maybe using Linux instead of Windows and then catching these foreign perps in the acts of doing criminal activities will finally stop these calls, leastways, I'm hoping that this'll be true.

I have been getting calls from this number since December 2011. First time claiming they were from "Windows." Bozo didn't even say Microsoft. Yesterday the same guy, "Nick," called (I definitely recognized the voice/accent from the first call.) This time he said he was with the "government." I couldn't understand what agency he was claiming to be from.  

This is a scam for sure. I don't even know why I answered the phone the second time, except that my temper got the better of me. The same number called again this morning. I, wisely with temper in check, did not answer the phone.

1. People, like the elderly or people who are new to computers,  are not "stupid." At most they are uninformed.
2. Even if every person with a computer ignores the calls these jerks with simply find another way to try to scam people.

These people called me and said I had an arrest warrant out on me. They said I needed to call another number or they would have me arrested. The number they gave me never rang when I called from another phone. The number is (1-917)-775-0023

I asked one of the idiots to come to my house and fix my computer problem   Even gave him directions. I suppose he is on his way but camels can be very slow and im not sure if they can swim

My wife took a call today - Feb 7 2012 from someone claiming to be from Microsoft and telling her that we have malware on our computer etc etc. Fortunately my wife said they'd have to call back and speak to her husband. Can't wait to see if they do! Hey, come on people. If it smells fishy, it's fishy.

Received this call asking for me by name at dinner time - sounded like a 'boiler room' in Pakistan.  In a heavily accented voice, he told me that my Windows machine was sending error messages.  I told him that I don't like Windows - use only Mac and Android operating systems.  Unconcerned, he continued reading from a script.  When he paused for a breath, I asked him for a recommendation in case I ever choose a Windoze machine - since he was an expert.  He immediately hung up.  I think that he is working the 250 Area Code tonight!

Got a call from same number.  Wanted us to open the computer so they could fix the problem.  Rather amusing to listen to her ramble on...Yeah right.  Who would fall for this.  
I have no doubt we will get another call from this number.

got a call from this number on my cell too, but I turned the table, I didn't say a word, not even Hello.   they were on the other end of the line going "hello....helllo...hello....hello".....

Got a call yesterday around lunchtime and didn't answer it.  Caller id said "unassigned number".  Read the posts here and when they called back about 5 pm, I answered and yup, it was Damien the Indian sounding guy saying he was with some tech support or security or something calling about my "MIcrosoft Windows computer".  Told him I didn't have a computer and he told me to have a good day and hung up.  Also my husband got this same call about a year ago.

My parents who are in their 80's but live with me,get these calls 206-456-0661 all the time..My mom has dementia and my dad and i have no time for these calls,,I even said we had a death in the family..and he called right back and made fun,,,please do something ..i am sure something can be done.

I totally sympathize with your situation. Why? Because I have received dozens of these calls in the last 6 months. I have also repeatedly tried to contact the Do Not Call List. I am in Canada and we have one as well. Unfortunately, they either have a lack of resources to assist and follow through or they just don't know how to resolve this matter. I have never received a response to the numerous complaints I have filed and it looks like the only way to contact them is through a web form on their website. It really is too bad because these folks are becoming increasingly abusive and as was the case with another caller on this forum they are now threatening violence. Hello????? Where I am from threatening someone is a violation of the law. But file a complaint with the police. Go ahead try and they will tell you that they are aware of the situation but these guys are hard to pin down and track. Well it sounds to me while we need some real and tangible intervention at the government level. Start with passing the right legislation to stop these [***] and start fining the phone companies that are well aware of these scammers but won't do anytjhing about it because it's money in their pockets.

Wow just looked up the # yesterday and checked the responses.  Called twice yesterday and again this morning at 9:30 a.m.  Said his name was Adam (strong accent sounded Indian) and wanted to inform me about my Windows virus.  I replied I do not have Windows, immediate hang up.  I do have Windows, my son is a software programmer, so he takes care of my computer, no need for someone like Adam

Got same calls too! I stopped answering the phone and now I'll just let the vm run on their calls.  I am not sure that contacting the FBI will really help at this point. It seems that these people are trying to fly way under the radar of government surveillance, and are thus targeting and preying upon single technologically-unaware individuals. Maybe a good idea is to carefully document and tape-record the calls in order to keep a good timestamped papertrail? If the callers turn out to be Pakistani-based, then maybe enough people crying CyberTerrorism! CyberTerrorism! will finally get some good national attention to this matter.

Got a call from 206/456/0661 Seattle.  Caller had a thick accent and when I said I didn't understand him he switched me to someone with less of an accent.  They both said I had problems with my windows computer, and when I said I didn't have a windows and who are you, they just continued with their schtick.  I figured it was a scam because when would Windows technical support ever call someone to let them know their computer was broken?!  I played along a bit, just for kicks as they told me to go here and click this etc etc.  Then finally got bored and told them my computer wasn't broken.  He got angry and said "OK when your computer is broken YOU can call ME!" and hung up.  I punched the number in here and voila.  Always use common sense when receiving calls.  Unless you have initiated a call, never give out any info, personal or otherwise.  Your computer info is all personal info.  Oh, at the same time my home phone in Los Angeles was ringing with this call, my husband's home phone was ringing also.  I checked and the number was the same.
