- SusanI keep getting calls from this number but no one is on the other end.
- Caller: unknown
- BettyrWe are getting calls from this number every single hour. 8 calls so far today alone. Day time calls - a person was on the other end telling me my windows needed fixed - I kept hanging up. Night time calls - no one on other end just nothing then a computer voice saying "Goodbye". My last call was at 10:48 pm this evening. I hope I don't get one after 11pm.
- BobSomething to keep in mind about all these continuing bothersome calls for surveys, so called charities and so called charity pickups despite asking them to remove you from their list:
Call centers have sprung up in my town that make use of the survey and the charity loophole around the do not call list; they have been a headache for law enforcement, emergency services, neighboring businesses and residential areas. When I ask any patrolling officer in town about these call centers, they are quick to state their frustrations about the criminal activity that some of these call centers have brought into the area. Several law enforcement agencies regularly visit some of these call centers looking for warrant arrests etc. I have heard from sources including from frustrated employees that work for these call centers complaining about the drug activity, vandalism of cars and neighboring businesses, break-ins and theft, drinking while on the job, smoke breaks are actually marijuana breaks, drunk driving, very dangerous driving, tons of tossed out litter of empty liquor containers, trash, food etc. I’ve even heard that the mangers are also involved in criminal activities and have even preyed on their legitimate employees who are simply trying to eek out a living on horrible wages. Also the operators are untrained in a very high turn around, poorly managed and dysfunctional work environment.
Also realize this when you call a companies’ customer service line and get horrible service from the call center that’s been hired by the company. One time while on a call with our bank’s customer service, the operator was so loopy that it required ending the call and calling again to try and get someone else to help, think about that when you call a companies’ customer service and the conversation gets odd, off the wall and obtuse – you may be talking to an operator that’s drunk or on something. After 6 months of getting a different and wrong answer to our ongoing problem each time we called our bank’s call center, we gave up and closed the account.
With so little police left in our town due to cutbacks, they can’t always respond to vandalism and break-ins when it’s witnessed as they have their plate full responding to the major emergencies, this allows the criminal activity free reign, the neighborhood becomes the hood. Some insurance companies require proof of private security patrols before they will honor a claim due to vandalism or theft leaving the neighboring businesses off guard and uncovered. These businesses also have the added cost to hire private security, install security systems/monitoring, upgrade lighting etc. Then there are the dangers and headaches to the nearby businesses employees such as their cars being vandalized or broken into. Some businesses simply give in, pickup and move out of town.
One of my neighbors owns a call center and he requires that his operators are bonded, but I guess there’s no laws requiring this – there should be. Right now in my town it seems like anybody can start up a call center and hire questionable labor for cheap without much regulation.
I my efforts the past several years to try and get something done, I am most struck by the fact that there’s no real help, everyone is more worried about being sued than dealing with the obvious problem - you are on your own....- Caller: Unassigned

- IsaI got a call today of a man telling me they are calling from windows they are technical department windows operating system. They said my computer was infected and had several viruses and they needed to help me fix it. so follow direccions but then there was a page that said to allow them to connect to technician. I ask them several times what does it mean. He repeated several times "mam I am just trying to help you fix your computer' then I said "then tell me how to fix it with out you logging into my computer" he insisted and got kind of upset because I would not log him in. But luckily my husband came in and told me that it was a scam and they were trying to get passwords, credit card information or anything they can get. So I told the man not to call me anymore and if my computer had a virus I will take it to a technician., then hang up. But they keep on calling me today and the machine just says godbye I dont know if that is another kind of a scam. I looked up this num

- ken in NHI have gotten a series of calls from these people with heavy accents. Several months ago I told them I do not link in any way my phone number to my computer therefore there is no way they could be contacting me due to 'serious error messages' being received from my computer. BTY I am still not sure what their company name is after asking them several times to repeat the name. In March I told them to put me on their do not call list. After a couple other calls it stopped.
Now in June the daily calls are starting again saying they are the official security contractor for Microsoft. When I told "Mark", who has a very thick accent, I was going to report them for violating the do not call request he immediately clicked off. Also, when I told another caller that I had excellent security he immediately clicked off.
Next time I am going to string the caller along just to waste his/her time.- Caller: ???
- isadragonJust called here...I had so much difficulties understand wath he was saying (indian or like) i just says it's stupid to tell me that and i hung up pfff

- Lorraineat 8:01 i received a call from some guy stating that he was calling from someplace called "Debt Consolidation Ontario" I have no idea who these people are but don't answer your phone if this number 1-206-456-0661 calls you!!! Apparently you are "mammed" a hundred times, asked very private financial questions, and then told that you "qualify" for some debt consolidation call.
I am sick and tired of these foreigners calling my home with their scams. It is disgusting that a do not call list allows them to continually get through to my line.- Caller: Debt Copnsolidation Ontario

- ConcernedI received a call from this number this evening and the bonehead on the other end of the phone state that that my computer was showing alarm errors and to log onto the website he was giving me the address for. I told him I didn't understand several times. He did sound like he was from Pakistan. I hung up the phone because it was just a wierd phone call to say the least. I phoned the number back and a recording came on stating the number was out of order. I then got on-line and looked up this website which I love, just to find out that ***Yes it was yet another idiot trying to scam me***. Be carefull all. There are some really, really aweful lazy people out there that can only servive by stealing.

- Ivan Orsecock...For these boiler-room scam artists time is money, so WASTE THEIR TIME!!!
...When you get an unwanted phone call, play along for a little while [don't let on that you're on to them] then make an excuse to put the phone down for a moment but keep them on the hook (ie; "there's someone at the door, let me get rid of them" or "the kettle's boiling, I'll be right back"). Then simply put the phone down and wait till they hang up. Be creative and make it sound legit so they don't get wise.
...Even if it's only a couple of minutes per call, if everyone did this it would add up to thousands of hours of them paying for overseas phone calls that net them nothing but frustration.
...Feel free to re-post this in other similar forums and/or send it to your fiends and family. The more people who read this, the more effective it will be. - +44 (0)1953850257I got a call from these guys starting they worked on behalf of windows operating systems and told me my identification code and i was having security isues with my computer. they asked me to press microsoft windows flag plus r and then go into the system and then showed me a list on my computer of all the 'sytem errors' on my computer - they were operating my computer! They told me they could fix the serious internal security problems then for a fee of .... or..... or.... This is when I finally smelt a rat. How could they hack into my computer details if I had not given them anything. I insisted I would check them out first and would ring them back. I looked you up on the website and here are my commments. Can they hack into my computer and corrupt it?
- Caller: solastech
- DebI received the call asking me to log on my computer and she would fix it. I could not understand her. Said goodbye and hung up
- LF4tuneMy mobile number is on the Federal DNC list (I confirmed this today as well) ...this scam company, or however one wishes to refer to them, rang the first time (with 5 '0's attached to the end of the caller I.D.
Fortunately I searched and learned who/what they were before answering the 2nd time (only to confirm that they are still attempting the same crimes). Oh, yes they are! The boiler room operation may not be India, or they may be using more than one to attempt to steal your identity ... the person I talked with appeared to have more of an East Asian accent (possibly CN?) He specifically said that he was calling from "Microsoft" and proceeded to say that they were "monitoring my IP address." I think the guy I had was a bit green or not very comfortable with English, and didn't last long before he hung up on me when I mentioned my Mac.
I reported the call to the FTC, National Do Not Call Registry by calling the complaint hotline at 888-382-1222 or you can go to http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2008/04/dncfyi.shtm
I urge all to do this with these guys!- Caller: they falsely claim to be Microsoft
