Report a phone call from 206-456-0661 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- CortneyThe number just called my parents house and I happened to answer the phone and Vijay called saying there was a problem with my windows - I asked him to repeat and he said there is a problem with my windows on my computer and he needed to access.. hearing of this scam before I told him this was a scam and he wasn't getting ahold of my perfectly fine computer then hung up!
- Caller: "Microsoft"
- JayI received three calls from them over the last week. They tell my how my Microsoft PC is giving them error messages (I have a Mac), and to follow their instructions. I lead them on as far as I can then I just call them liars and criminals until they hang up.
- SimonRoger (or Rajah) with a heavy indian accent called and told me he was detecting a virus in my 'management software' and was receiving an error code and if I would just turn on my computer he would show me how to fix it. I asked him to confirm my IP address or even what type of software I had. He could not determine that, but whatever I had was infected. Sure. Sounds legit.
Never allow anyone to access your computer remotely unless YOU CALL THEM for service.- Caller: windows virus protection
- unkown99| 1 replyThey called 3:04 pm claiming to be from the "Window Service Center" and that my home computer was "sending too many warning/error messages". I asked what kind of computer he was talking about and he just kept saying my "home computer", my "windows computer". I asked how they got this number and he said "from the nearest police station" ????? I asked what police station? He replied with the state in which my number is listed. SCAM!!!!! I hung up.
Also: Heavy accent and ask for me by first name.- Caller: "Windows Service Center" SCAM ALERT!!!
- HJR| 1 replyThis is the third call I've received from these idiots. This time they said they were from Microsoft and said that I had phishing software or a virus on my PC. I asked them to identify what malware they saw on my PC and the Indian woman started swearing. Due to the accent, I missed most of what she replied, but due to her frequent use of the F word and tone, I could tell she was not happy. I then asked to speak to her manager, and an Indian man came on and did a halfhearted apology for his employee's swearing even after I pointed out to him that Microsoft being a professional company would never allow an employee to swear to a customer. And then he started asking about BSD messages, or errors that send reports to Microsoft, or even web pages not found messages. He said he had a report with my Windows ID on it and rattled off a long number and asked if I knew how to check it. I replied no, and he tried to get me to use a Windows shortcut to run something on my PC. At that point I hung up as I am not running a program on my PC that some company that cannot even identify themselves without lying on an unsolicited call asks me too.
- Joyce L.| 3 repliesToday,(1/30/12) is the SECOND time I got a call from this phone number about the same subject. I reported it 6 months ago as a scam to my Colorado Do Not Call website, but it obviously still goes on!! Today's call was the same as before about a computer virus. All I had to do was let THEM instruct ME on how to get passed the virus and FIX my computer. NO WAY OMAR!!
My biggest question is: WHY..WHY..WHY does this continue to happen from the SAME number over and over, SAME scenario, SAME FORGEIN ACCENTED person on the other end with a middle eastern accent (India, Turkey, etc) with the EXACT SAME SCAM? WHY haven't these SCUM BAGS been stopped? What good does it do to report this if NOTHING is done about it??!! It would be different if the number had a DIFFERENT SCAM, a DIFFERENT scenario, a DIFFERENT accented person on the other end. I, like a few others, called this a scam which they got irrate at. I hung up. He had the GALL and NERVE to call me back and chew ME out for hanging up on HIM and being so rude!!! I told him if he called me again I would also get law enforcement involved and report this number as a harrassing phone call. Obviusly, middle eastern culture DOES NOT LIKE WOMEN who stand up to them and emphatically call them liars, cheats and shysters! Obviously they're not from America where women are strong AND have the RIGHT to be opinionated and don't mind telling you so!!! LOL - ButtaFly| 1 replyThey keep calling me when i call it back there is a recording saying this in Jennifer Leach from the FTC and then goes to some warning about information phishing on line and then finally directs you to a website.
- Joyce L. replies to HJRYep!! Same story I got this morning. I couldn't hear the caller well but they did say something about Microsoft had sent them a message of some kind about a problem....at least I think that's what he said. I put them off this time (and the caller was more polite than yours) by saying I already had a computer technical support group that cleaned my computer whenever I had problems and the program also does daily and weekly checks for viruses, spyware and malware...all of which are clear as of this morning before this call and that I would do nothing until I checked with them. He was polite and said goodbye...unusual from my last experience and yours...lol
- Joyce L. replies to ButtaFlyWhich makes me wonder....does it do any good to report it since it continues to happen? Also, you'll notice in the recording this lady talks about E-MAIL fisching....NOT phone calls. Surely they're also aware of the calls but the message doesn't say anything about that.
- Joyce L. replies to unkown99Lol....they are really dumb! Yep! S-C-A-M!
- TI've been receiving calls from this number over the last few days. No message is left and I'm wondering if its a scam like usual. I have a friend who has also had this number call. From what I've seen on the web, it is a problem number.
- Caller: Unknown name
- Jennifer replies to I wish they would go awayIt's not necessarily stupidity. A 76 year old woman I know who is not "stupid" at all got this scam call and believed it as she knows very little about computers.
- JenniferI just got a call from these scammers and tried to call them back. There is now a message from the FTC informing you that this company is phishing and are scammers.
- Caller: Scammers
- RK| 3 repliesMy letter to DNCL
This is the third time in three months this man has called me. It is obviously a FRUAD ring of organized crime. They take notes because he knew things I said a month ago. I am a 50 year old man, and DEMAND you arrest these people NOW. Cut off their phone access. STOP their harassment. This time he said OBSCENE, THREATENING things, which i take as a THREAT against my life. DO SOMETHING NOW, whoever is reading this!!!!!
Don't forget.
The call back number iss 206-456-0661- Caller: Computer
- Call type: Telemarketer
- HJR replies to Joyce L.My thinking is that even though they spoof a Washington state phone number and they say they are "Microsoft", they are running this scam and are calling from outside of this country. So while it's good that they get reported to the DNC website, chances are strong that DNC will not be able to enforce it. Perhaps they can call Seal Team 6 in on these idiots :-)
- Tip on Best Reply to ScammersWe told them we didn't have a computer. Don't expect a call back very soon. They just hung up.
