Got a call from this number it was an automated collect call message
trying to get my credit card # to accept call
So I gave them a credit card # belonging to my x-wife
The call was real and I WISH i could have done that for my X

My boyfriend called me from this number...and he told me that i can never call it because it was dangerous to do so.....I dont entirely believe it, but just in case i wouldnt answer it if anyone sees that number on their caller id....

Got a call from this number and no one would say anything.  They just kept pushing random button and finally hung up.  Wierd.

Received two calls today at my home in Georgia from 214 969 5489.  The caller said it was a collect call from "Mike".  My wife obviously refused.  Baffled that they would call twice in the same day from the same number/outfit.  Obviously a scam.  Beware

Got one about 11:20 last night.  Same thing others have said - I didn't answer, no message was left and when I tried to call back, line was busy.  Let's go bulldoze the pay phone!

It is a calling card that someone is using. It just shows up as that number. Nothing more.

Recived a prank call from this number at 2:05AM.The guy just left jarble on my voicemail.

My boyfriend is suppose to be getting out of prison today and he said he was going to call me once he got out. Hes from PA usa and i'm in BC Canada. I answered and it said it was a collect call from "my boyfriends name" and to put in my credit card # so I tried and it wouldn't let me.

Hes called about 5 times today. Also he was trying to call my cell phone so maybe thats why it wasn't working. I haven't been able to talk to him since hes calling my cell instead of my house phone!

I called it back and it was busy I called back again and it just rang and rang and rsng.

Just received a phone call from this number. Boyfriend was flying to Atlanta today so I imagine it was him calling me from a payphone at the ATL airport or calling card. Couldn't hear anything when I picked up though.

The phone numbers 214-969-5489 and 415-656-1073 do not refer to any one single pay phone in any one single location. They are most likely outbound trunk numbers of the long distance companies used by the individual pay phones.

When someone makes a coin paid long distance call from most COCOT pay phones, the pay phone does NOT dial the destination number directly. Instead it dials a toll-free number, listens for a 2nd dialtone, then dials the destination number. By doing this, the company that operates the pay phone will get cheaper long distance rates, but a major side effect of dialing calls this way is that the number of the pay phone will NOT be sent as the Caller ID. Instead callers will receive a 'generic' number that often can not be called back.

Please accept the fact that these numbers (214-969-5489, 415-656-1073, etc.) only indicate a call from some pay phone somewhere, not a specific pay phone location.

Rudely woken up at 3:40AM with a collect call supposedly from my son who was in jail in Orange County? The call actually had his voice on it. Someone is playing games and I hope they die a violent death for bothering innocent victims that do not deserve to be disturbed, alarmed or inconvenienced. In this modern technology age, you might think Law Enforcement and the public utilities could put a stop to this type of harassment.

This call was authentic and originated from the Orange County Jail in North Carolina, outside of Durham. My son was picked up for violating a restraining order and was calling from the jail. So, this number could be something critical. I just didn't figure it out until I woke up the next morning. Make sure it's not your loved ones calling for help. Although the restraining order was in the process of being lifted, he was arrested anyway.

Didn't answer the phone because it wasnt a number I knew, it went to voice mail and when I checked my vm I could hear wind then they hung up.

I keep getting a call form this number I don't answer numbers I don't know. I tried calling back but I get is a busy signal. I don't have time for games I researched this number and this page popped up. Whoever this is u need to stop calling me

My husband was taken a bus from VA to FL and his voice came across saying he was hurt and now I can't get bck in touch with him, my cell doesn't accept collect calls so there was nothing I could do to answer.

I ignored this call, let it go to voice mail.
My playback of my voicemail -- appeared to be one of those collect calls where a recording prompts the receiver of the call to press 2 if they will accept charges, it then gave an option to input your home phone if you want to send charges to that.
Clearly a scam!

My boyfriend called me from this # and he's backpacking at the Grand Canyon. I called back and I keep getting a busy tone

Got a call this morning (before 5am) after my gf missed a call on her cell from a different number.  Automated sounding collect call from "Dad".  I didn't recognize the voice and I was half asleep, so I denied the call.  Looked it up on here, and I'm glad I did now.

we receive a collect call from a robeson county jail but we didnt acept it and they been calling several times,,,

Got a call from this # afew minutes ago didn't answer googled it glad I didn't no vm left just busy when I called it back.
