Got a call from this # afew minutes ago didn't answer googled it glad I didn't no vm left just busy when I called it back.

Ok ok got a 2nd call just now so I answered it!! It was a call from my bff from a pay phone in Flint so it is just a connecting line that's all no worries :)

On August 29, 2009 at 2:51am I received a call from 214-969-5489. It was a women asking for a credit card number so my son could reach me on my cell phone. The excuse given was that my phone would not accept collect calls so she needed my number to put the call through. I told her I didn't have a credit card number and her response was "I thought you would say that" and she immediately hung up. When I tried to call back it either rang and rang with no answer or was busy.

My son called me from a pay phone in Ocala, FL from this number, I tried to call him back on it but it was busy at first then it just rang and rang

my ex calls me from this number..he lives in TN, says its a payphone at the truck stop he works at....

I received two calls....both said they were collect.  No name was given.  Caller ID showed it as a Texas number, 214-969-5489.  I did not accept, I hung up.  I called that number but got the busy tone.
I received a third call...said it was from Embarq pay phone # 540-652-9905. When I called it, I get the tone as if it is a fax machine.
All three calls were within 10 minutes of each other on my land phone.

I got a call from this number on my cell phone! -- it was my father-in-law calling from a pay phone!!

this caller called me and said that he was in boston,mass and indicated that he wanted to speak to the president and said my name and my childrens name also he stated that he wanted to come see me so I'm deeply concerned not only for me but for my two little women my kids please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This phone belongs to a Richard Sutton he lives in Kingston, N.Y. he is a very disturbed young man.

I got a call from this number back in July, the guys had called me off an ad on craigslist adult section.  He said his name was Robert and made an appointment and was a no show.  He has since tried calling and I wouldn't pick up so he never would leave a message.  then I get a call this morning from a guy name John his number was 702 560 9176 and he made a 1pm appointment with me, so when I he arrived at the hotel he called me from The 214 969 5489 and got my room number.  He never came up and the number is busy.  Of course I changed hotels.

DITTO. Got a call around 2pm, no message left, busy signal when I called back. Remember people, nothing official or binding ever comes from phone calls. If you register your address with the post office and have a legal residence, nobody needs to call you. They can do it by mail (have to) where it can properly be traced/investigated. Don't EVER give information out over the phone to ANYBODY, even if they claim it's for a bill, even if it's for a bill you might actually owe money on. Ask them to send mail or hang up.

I received 4 calls this morning about 20 minutes apart - to my cell phone - with this caller ID.  I have not answered because I am at work and wasn't sure what it was in reference to.  But as I read these comments, it makes sense.  I do have a brother who has been moved to a halfway house, and he had told us prior that he would have access to a payphone.  The problem I have, I am reading that they ask for a credit card...I am not comfortable giving that out.  Not sure what to do or how to research if this is legitimate.

I have just read tons of complaints about this number and area code.
If this is a scam and is a known fact, why can't something be done about it?
I almost accepted the call but for once I listened to my "little inner voice".

Keep getting calls from this number a man says he has aids and wants sex, and that he can see us....We work for a cab company and this is getting to be extremely a problem...

Got a call from this number this morning from a man with a muffled voice. He said that he was paid big money to burn my house with me in it so that I couldn't show up in court in a couple of weeks. The strange thing is that I actually am going to court in a couple of weeks, for a divorce. I called the police, they came out and called my soon-to-be ex-husband and talked to him. He said he didn't know anything about it. The police are also going to patrol my house more for awhile. Still not sure how this person is getting the information about the people they are calling.

I made a collect call from a hospital emergency room at Kaiser Permanente on an ATT payphone.  These people first tried to get a charge card number from my wife who refused to provide it.  I provided it and they have debited my account for 5 and 14.11 charges on separate days.  They didn't sound professional but I was in something of a desperation mode.  What's even more frustrating is that the bank and the hospital don't seem interested in doing anything about it.  It is a TX number. ILD Teleservices is the name of the company that made the charges. I had to cancel my card and am recovering the money but what a hassle.
