got two texts from them in the early hours this morning from two different numbers(+447833982603 and +447884395973) both telling me then same thing! to phone +23222270685 for an overseas delivery needless to say I am expecting one so I can only assume its a scam!!! Beware all!!!!!

Yep, my dad got a message sying the exact same thing. The only reason he called it was because he was expecting a parcel from america although the sumber was from Sierra Leone (What?). When he rang it, they asked for his mobile number and it kept getting a digit wrong. When we rang O2, they said that £14.76 was charged in international calls to Sierra Leone. We argued about this for about 10 minutes then she gave up and asked her Manager about it. We got £7 back but not the other 7. I was in another forum and someone said that the phone company get 50% of the charge as the other half goes to the scammers.

I received a text when I switched my phone back on last night (the battery had died while I was out).  The message had been sent from a UK mobile about an urgent delivery.  Being close to Christmas, I'm expecting quite a few big deliveries - I'm not good at shopping!  I did know it was international and did call the number back... cost me a couple of quid but I know now not to be caught out in future.

all the numbers used are international premium rate (revenue share) numbers.  The regulators (UK/Austrian) know or could easily find out who is behind this fraud.

Ambavox and Maxtis may not be the companies operating the scam but they will know who they have supplied the numbers to. And remember these numbers are revenue share numbers.

It's also interesting to note that Maxtis also supplies Sierra Leone numbers for use to bill for premium rate 'services'.

A scammer is now using the Freecycle network to earn some cash. Advertising an unwanted Sony Ericcson phone and asking those who want it to call 07053509179
I googled the number and foung reference to a gumtree ad.
I emailed the freecycle Basildon group but moderators would not post my warning message for all to see, because it didnt comform to the Item offered or Item wanted format. How pro active are they.
