How can anybody do something about my credit card interest? I don't have credit card interest. Consistently pay entire bills, and have for years. Rachel is a fraud, and a nuisance.

I get calls from time to time from (234)567-8900, but no one every answers.  Just wanted to throw out a theory.  My guess is they sell the numbers and are checking to see if people pick up or not.  If it go's to an answering machine then certain kinds of marketing programs that only target answering machine.

Got the call from 234-567-8900, answered it, and they said to press 1 to talk about credit score or some nonsense.  I pressed it to talk to someone to remove my number and as soon as I said I have a problem with why they called, they hung up.  Spineless, gutless scammers praying on peple who earn there lifestyle honetly.

Have been getting these calls for awhile.  Called the 1-800 number listed on page 17 back, and spoke with a very polite CS rep who took down all of the details of my complaint, as well as ensured my number is on their internal DNC list.

The interesting thing she told me was that they contract out most of their call-centre work, and that their contractors are responsible for the day-to-day compliance with national telemarketing laws and DNC lists.  I was told if they find one of their contractors isn't complying, their contract gets terminated immediately.  So if it is one of their contractors and not the main company, then complaints made to their head office WILL have an effect.

Just remember to try and be polite to the inbound customer service staff unless they're rude to you.  They are not personally responsible for the calls you are receiving and will probably be more helpful if you're polite about making the complaint.

    Annoyed.
No.  I am not going to be polite to a company that has been harassing me for years, that calls me night and day, that clearly breaks CRTC and FCC rules, and that refuses to honor my requests to stop calling me.  Enough is enough.   Why are they not being fined or closed down???  There are over 18 pages of complaints here!!!

Got a call, and it said press 1 to get lower interest rates or 3 not to get calls anymore.  I pressed 1 to lower my interest, and when the gentleman answered, he asked did you press one to lower interest rates, I responded what company are you with, he said I can see where this is going go F%+#k yourself, and hung up.  I cannot believe this.

Wake up and smell the cofee
If you take a few minutes to search on the Net about this topic, you can quickly realize that the Credit Card scam related to gifts and low interest rate offers has been going on since at least, 2003.

I've read enough on this subject to come to the conclusion that these call centers (wherever they are located in the world) operate without any fear of being caught.

They cause hundred of thousand dollars losses daily to the credit card companies and guess what? The credit card companies pass their losses to the users who are at he end…you and me.

As of today, these pirates call centers are still operating in full force across North America.

They have found the loophole for escaping from FBI, FCC and RCMP. The typical “model citizen” will usually reports the fraud to the attorney or local police.

    I've got news for you.

You can file as many complains as you want to the authorities, they just can’t catch them! You can threaten of reporting their annoying calls to the phone companies, you can swear, being rude, vulgar with them – They are the ones controlling the game.

They just hang up (laughing) until they receive a call from the next gullible person (and the wheel keeps turning).

Whatever you do or say, you won’t be taken off their automated calling list. If there is something, they will call you even more often.

They are very much up to date with the changing law enforcement techniques and like a moving target, they disappear in the fields.

You can find numerous blogs and discussion forums related to this scam (this one is one of them).

For every thread on the Net that exposes their illegal activities, they have members/employees posting a message denying the complains of people who got ripped off.

They introduce contradicting information in blogs/forums in order to confuse people who are unsure about the legitimacy of their offer.

They have fake web sites, fake names, fake addresses, fake caller i.d., etc.

Based on these facts, I think the only thing that can be done is to interfere with their practices.

    How can this be done?

By “putting a stick in their wheel", hitting the weakest spot – their need to grab personal information from you.

I’ve been practicing for quite a few times now and you’d be impressed by how patient they become when they feel that they have YOU as a fish on their hook.

Again, the only power you have over them is to spend as much time as you can to waste THEIR time.

The time you spend with them is time that they can’t use for screwing other people.

This is what I have been doing for a while:

The principle is to play the game of being interested by their offer, providing fake information, pretending, acting, and creating delays.

Here are a few numbers that still work as of today: 1800-501-0100 (to reach the vacation trip scam) | 1 888-786-6201 or 1 800 943-3250 or 1 800-961-9830 (to reach the MCS credit card interest rate scam). You can find other 1-800 numbers in this thread.

If you need more numbers you can with a little effort “google” the name of the organization along with <1-800> in the search field and it should pull more numbers to call to.

Finally, here is my recipe for a great "obstruction" session upon these scammers:

    1) take a hands free phone (portable is even better as you can still conduct you home activities)

    2) get them to go through their entire sales pitch by encouraging and acknowledging every once in a while

    3) make it last as long as your time permits (they are the one assuming the charges of the “1-800” communication)

    4) When you feel that they suspect your “game” (or when you’re bored whichever comes first), find a nice and polite way to tell them that they've just wasted 15-20 minutes (sometimes more) of their precious time stealing other gullible people.

I guarantee you that you will get some reaction at the other end of the line.

Give them a ride and flood their phone lines!

Make their life as miserable as they do to it tor us.

HEARING THEIR FRUSTRATION IS A GREAT REWARD AND PURE PLEASURE. BELIEVE ME, I'VE TRIED IT.

Don’t be intimidated if they threaten you of anything, they are totally harmless and low end crooks.

I just got a call from this number, 234-567-8900, and i' SO irritated now!! They called with the usual crap about lowering my interest rates and to press 1 to continue, so of course i did. I got through to some smart assed little brat on the phone. I asked him why he was calling and what information he needed. He responded in the most smart assed voice i've ever heard "did you listen to the MESSAGE???"to which i responded, "yes, can you explain more about it", to which he replied "DIDN'T YOU LISTEN TO THE MESSAGE????". I repeated yes, but claimed i didn't understand, and asked him to explain again. He replied with "NO I CAN'T" and hung up.

GRRRRRRR!!!!! If yo don't wanna talk to me then don't call me and bother me!!!!

    Mutual Consolidated Services @ 800-943-3250

Chris is the compliance officer -- he is equally as ignorant as the company for which he works.  Might I suggest arson?  It might be easier to put this business completely out of its misery.  Reasoning has not helped.  Simple requests are ignored.  I don't want their phone calls interrupting my life but they ignore my requests repeatedly.  Rude responses from their callers are the norm.  Get out of step with them and they hang up.  I have had with this bunch of morons.  Anyone have their address?  Please leave it in a message here if you do.  I think it might be fun to go visit them in person.  Anybody want to go with me?

This call came through while we were out late morning.  No message.  I suggest, when you see some of these numbers, you realize they are telemarketers, many from USA calling Canada, as in my case, just answer "Detective Johnson" or some other such name.  Hopefully, they will remove your number from call list.  That's my plan, anyway!
