Husband told him to tell him the problem and he would have my nephew the problem and my nephew would fix it but then strange things starting happen My husband pull the plug I am still running scans - What does it do?| 4 repliesI received a call from the number stating they were with microsoft, and that I had a problem with my internet and needed to delete some programs to get my computer running properly again. A man with a strong Indian accent (just like many of the reviews) then asked which browser I used. He then asked me to go to *https://www.support.me* which then forwarded me to a site asking for a 6 digit computer number. I then stated that I did not know the number. He then gave me a 6 digit code (wich I suppose I was supposed to enter and then press download) and I asked him what the download did. I was transfered to a man with a British accent. (though I did hear the man with the Indian accent in the background). He asked me if I wanted to be transfered to someone who could tell me. I replied "yes." He then told me to press the download button. When I refused to hit download until he told me what the program did. He then told me"not to waste his time." I restated that I wan't going to download until I was informed and didn't need to download a program to be so. He then asked if I was deaf. I replied "Thank you for calling" and hung up. I believe that this is a scam. Do not download.

- same guy replies to What does it do?I reviewed the program and found that it allows remote access from other devices. When you download this program, the scammer is then able to remote access your computer. DO NOT DOWNLOAD

- Not happy in FLReceived a call from this number this morning (4/24/13) at 8:40 a.m. Caller came on the line after a 15 second delay. I told her my number is registered on the do not solicit list and that I wanted her to immediately remove my number from her call list. She got defiant and asked me why I would want her to do that. I asked why she was calling and she said that she was with "Windows" and that my computer had recently downloaded files that would shut down my operating system and that she was going to walk me through how to identify the files. I told her no way was I trusting her to gain access to my computer, told her to remove me from her call list and hung up.

- rcheid replies to Annoyed in Indiana| 1 replySaw a piece about this on the news last week. A woman in our area thought it was ligit and actually let him have access to her PC. He downloaded all of it apparently - including user ID's and passwords, because the next day, her bank account was emptied!
- rcheid replies to rcheidI forgot to add that the person calling knew a LOT of info about this woman, which is why she thought it was ligit to begin with. Which makes me wonder how they got all the info about her to begin with???
- kaoskrkWell, it would not be good for them to call me back. I was out of my office when they called and my assistant said that there was a service order in to Microsoft but she did not have passcodes to enter the server. They said they would call back. 6 digit code - let me see if I can get it.
- kaoskrk replies to alexAlex,
Have you gotten the code yet? They called me today and will probably call back as they think they have gotten an easy one. My assistant told them she couldn't access the server - to call back. She is well schooled in scamming answers. I will record conversation and get the code if you still need it. - DarlaAliza, a woman with a thick foreign accent called from 'Microsoft', stating that my computer was sending errors messages and that there was an online infection virus on my computer. She knew my name, address, and phone number without giving her any information. When I told that I have an antiviris running , she said that it would not help or keep the problem from occurring. I asked to prove to me that it was infected and she asked me to turn on my computer and click on a specific icon to open the folder. I did it, then she asked me to count all the errors and that she needed the exact number of warnings and errors that showed up. There were over 300! When she sad that she will have to get her supervisor, I asked her for a phone number for me to call her back, as my little ones were getting into trouble and I needed to tend to them. She gave me 804-435-5322 and when I asked for a name of her supervisor, she said 'my supervisor or my manager?' After going on another minute she finally gave me the name Mr. David. I never got to call that number back, but thought to Google both numbers first. Glad I did. She called on Apr 24, 2013 around 10am EST.

- Call type: Prank
- KenHeavy Indian accent claiming to be from Microsoft telling me there's a virus on my Windows computer and he was going to fix it for me. That was intriguing since I use a Mac. Knowing immediately that this was a scam, I played out his game for a while until I frustrated him so much he hung up on me. That's how I like to treat scam artists.
