3187461250 had been calling my cell all day today and I am tired of their calls .  They need to stop xalling I dont know anyone from this area code.

Let me clear this up for some of you, as there's a bunch of bad information in these postings.

1. The company  calling you is CityTelecoin, it is based in BOSSIER CITY,LA. They are the largest operator of  PRISON  INMATE PHONE SERVICES in the USA.  

2. They have contracts with just about 90% of the prisons in the country.When an inmate at a prison they service makes a call to you, they are transmitted by microwave to the office in Bosiier City.
THAT is why you see the 318-746-1250 number or another one from the same area. The company's equipment funnels all calls thru the Bossier City office.

3. The prisoner must place the calls COLLECT, and the message when you answer your call says :
This is a collect call form an inmate at a correctional facility. To accept press 1,  to decline press 2, to block your number press 3, to hear rates press 4.

4. The rates for the calls are NOT set by the phone company. Each jail/prison determines what the call will cost. MOST facilities charge $5.00 for 15 minutes of conversation to your phone number should you accept the call.

5. The Phone company has a credit limit of $50.00 worth of collect calls you are allowed to your specific phone number PERIOD! Once your number reaches $50.00, collect calls will not be allowed to your number. You would have to call them and purchase PREPAID minutes with a credit card before any more calls would be allowed to go thru to your number.

6. The main reason some of you people with cell phone numbers get the calls ( their equipment, when it recognizes the call is to a cell phone will block it) is because some carriers RECYCLE cell phone numbers with their customers. The number you were assigned may have at one time been a landline number that was PORTED into your cell carriers system, and once the previous owner cancelled their cell service, the cell carrier re-issued the number.and you got the luck of the draw getting it, and the Phone company's system may recognize it as a landline number.

7. You can call the company and request them to block your number from receiving calls from their service, HOWEVER...Once they block you it's PERMANENT !, so if a year from now you or a friend gets arrested, and they try to call you for help, the call will NOT go thru to you cause your number is BLOCKED FOREVER

Hope i cleared some of this up for you.

City Telecoin is a collect call svc 4 the jail system in the us.  they charge outrageous rates unless you get a # VERY CLOSE 2 the jail.  if u r getting calls it is some1 n jail calling u so u should accept the 1st FREE 2 min call 2 find out who it is incase its some1 important to u.  if you call them they will NOT tell you the rates until you get a # which is TOTAL [***]!!!!!!!!  when asked 2 pay its putting $ on ur phone line ONLY - inmate does not get this $ - & you have 2 know the name of the person calling u 2 set it up.

I just received the same type of call on my sprint cell number. It is 11:44 pm and when I answered it was an automated voice message (sprint refusal to accept the collect call)

i keep gettin call from th 318-746-1250 and i dont know wnyone they have to be trying to use me for three-way

Stop calling my phone!!!! I don't know, or want to know, anyone in prison!!!!!

I received a call this morning. Wasn't able to answer in time but clearly based on everyone's responses, it is likely the same situation.  No voicemail though.

I have received 15 calls from this number  within a 24 hour period.  When I answer, the recording says this is  call from ___________ an inmate.  Then it proceeds to tell me to press numbers for different options.   The first call I received was at 10pm on May 12, 2012, this is getting to be alittle irritating.   As I  am typing this  I rececived 3 calls from this number. What do I need to do to stop this?

Dont know anyone in jail and whoever is using this phone will not quit calling my house

Received call from this number this morning on my cell, went straight to voice mail. Message said call from inmate _____ at Crittendon Correctional facility. I don't know anyone in prison, so deleted it. I hope they reach who they REALLY need. Apparently this city telecoin operates out of several states, seems to be exclusively for prison calls.

Trying to get in touch with James Stafford III that called me today.

Someone called me from this number and since I didn't recognize it, I didn't answer, but it left a voice mail.  Collect call from Chris at Union County Detention Center.  I don't know a Chris there.  They need to stop calling random numbers.  Only thing I can think of is my ex put someone up to calling me and I don't even know how he would have my cell phone number in the first place.

i know if you have verizon you can go online and block any number or if you have a carrier with a login you can block the number

ya thats right 16.23 for one call and it what its twenty minute phone call thats outragous!! we barley make enough to get by anymore and they want to do people that way..it sucks

just received a call from my son in jail in oklahoma and this number showed up ??

I just received a call from someone in jail so i accepted it &it said it would have a fee how do  i pay that if i have a monthly pay as u go phone

I don't understand why you have to go through a third party why can't your loved 1 just call you collect directly it's ridiculous that they charge you so much
