I had a credit card charge for $8.00 with the phone # 402-935-7733 and paypal for John Evans.  Never made the transaction.  Call the credit card company and are disputing it!

This number was on 2 $49 paypal transactions this week that I did not authorize (PAYPAL *CLAYJULL 402-935-7733 10/15PAYPAL *C).  I have spoken with paypal, which after confirming that my visa card had indeed been used  fraudently, cancelled the other person's paypal account to whom the transaction was initiated, or so they said.  I am currently awaiting the refund which paypal said could take 10 day... funny... it didn't take 10 days to illegally take my money... hmmm  If you have unauthorized paypal transactions, contact paypal directly as well as your bank.. Their number is 402-935-2050.

So, from all the comments, is this number legit or what? What happened to me is that a US merchant (I live in Canada) relayed my CC & phone number info to Paypal, although I concluded my transaction by phone and had never had a Paypal account. Surreal.

PayPal was calling to confirm a transaction made.  They DO NOT steal or need specific information.  Just checking that you made the transaction and the amount.

I got a call - but no message. I called PayPal's 800# and they verified they were just calling to verify my account. I had just received a large amount of money from a client - which was out of the norm for my usual transactions - so they were verifying ????????

they just called - we're calling them back. Seems we haven't used it for too long, then used it all at once.

This is PAYPAL, they are legitimate.

This is obviously someone working for Paypal to have this much control to manipulate the Paypal systems to the point of knowing as much as he does.  It's a scammer within Payapl.  

Everyone needs to complain to Paypal.  If this is NOT stopped soon as it's been going on for 6 months, then a class action lawsuit needs to be filed against Paypal. Someone on the outside can NOT do this unless they're hacking into the main central Paypal server systems. It's somebody that has inside information about Paypal systems.

The phone number is the legit number for Paypal. If you don't know why the charge is there maybe someone has stolen your credit card or the number and made a paypal payment with it. Should be easily traceable. Or maybe you just forgot something you bought, thats what happend to me...

My mother is a senior citizen and she got scammed somehow by a telemarketer from this phone number resulting in a Pay Pal hit on her account for $86.00

I got billed $659.50 to my credit card with this listed as the transaction:

"PAYPAL *TICESGIFTSC 4029357733"

They didn't use MY PayPal account. I don't even have that card listed on my PP acct. They created a FAKE paypal acct. in my name, with my billing and credit card info, bought a 16gb apple iPhone, had AND had it shipped to MY house! (and swiped it off the porch before anyone came home from work)

I called PayPal, they reversed the charges, froze the fake account, and said it's definitely fraudulent. (duh) I contacted my credit card company, and canceled the card, and they're looking into it as well. This is scary, and took about four hours out of my weekend to finally get things relatively straightened out. I'm hoping that I can find the merchant who sold the iPhone, get the cereal number from it, and find who it's registered to. ;)

I saw a $1 charge on my checking account and asked for information regarding the charge, since how many transactions are $1, and my bank gave me this number and said that it was a PayPal transactions.  It turns out that yes, when I made a purchase from ebay recently, I checked a box to donate $1 to Dress for Success, and I paid for the transaction with PayPal.  This phone number is PayPal and the charge is valid.

Received a paypal debit to my CC for 256.00 listed as Brownie Free' with the 402-935-7733 number.  Has anyone heard of this?

I received a call from this number minutes after ordering Christmas gifts.  I did not speak to them but saw the number on my caller ID for the landline and cell phones.

why are they calling a DNC number and how did they get my nynber

I do not have a Paypal account and have not given my credit card to ebay, yet I had two charges and credits from paypal (referencing this phone number) for $99 each.  
How can this happen?  Is it some scammer "testing" the system?
