This and a few other calls similar have been coming up on my caller id much more frequently lately. Some have the same mo using several different phone numbers. Ironically. This one rang just after I commented about this very issue on a thread on a friends facebook status post. He said his mother was getting the calls. I wonder if these sickos have hacked into fb and some how gotten our phone numbers. Incidentally my computer got a rogue virus recently too and is out for a reformatting of the hard drive. I am using a new lap top in the meantime.

Trying to con me about how my computer has problem and he was going to tell me how to fix it, so I asked really what operating system does the problem deal with and he replied the one you have. So I asked so Red Hat Linux? Which I do not have and he said Yes. So I said wonderful send someone right over, and hung up on him.

I got like 3 calls from this number today and wouldnt connect when I call back.
Based on the comments here looks like another grant scam and this time not from China but from my own country.
Maybe China outsourced it to India for scamming. :-)
In the past I have received so many calls from China and these guys were outright rude idiots.
Unfortunately there does not seem to be any way to stop these calls.
I wonder if there is any standard process for reporting these calls.
Calls from Chinese scammers were not even proper phone numbers.

Ya I got the free grant money call & if could've they'd of twisted my arm to deposit $299 on greendot to receive my $8000.  When I kept refusing saying govt doesn't charge to give free $, he told me do 1 last thing then.  He told me "take your fone & shove it up your a@s".  Crazy.  LOL

Same person with an accent similar to the accent of people I know who come from India called and said he was calling about my computer. This is about the 20th call of this sort I have had. The caller alleges that my Windows computer has viruses, which he will fix for me. When I try to keep him on the phone, by saying I have a Mac PC or I will take it to my local computer store, he gets stammered and hangs up. This is a scam !

got the same call. said from the us gov.  free money, tax free. I asked who are you calling. he said the owner of this phone #. I asked how he got this #. he said we are the gov. we have all info. I said well what is my name. he could not answer.

when I refused he said "go F your self"

I am the recipient of an 8 thousand (and some) dollar grant from the Government that I was randomly selected for paying my taxes on time, not claiming bankruptsey and not being involved in criminal activity in the last 6 months.

How would I like to receive this money? By Check. They can't do that because it isn't secure..... they could tansfer it directly into my bank account though.

In barely decernable accent (India?) they gave me the address to the white house when I asked why my caller ID said they were from TORONTO, ONTARIO. (Got a little attitude about it, too.) If I would just cooperate they would give me money at the end of the call...

I say they all need to be cornholed by an elephant for wasting our precious time. So sick of getting calls that are untraceable. Why have these @%&*$#' not been shut down yet? If you enter the ph. # online they show up at different times as AOL tech support or Hotmail with some NJ address. I say "Burn em' all & dump em' in the Ganges" Hey what else can be expected of people that come from a country that looks like God took a huge dump everywhere? They are soooooo poor they can't even scam their own so they had to think outside of the s_ _ t box!

It is useless to report these scams to FTC or FBI. Too many to track and they constantly change numbers.
Waste of time. Just hang up and put on your Call Blocker.

i got a call stating i will recv a grant from US govt. for 7,000 when i told him i didn't want to verify my information he disconnected the call. but he had my name and address.

Knew my name and yahoo email. asked if i had logged in from two other states. says they were in the US at yahoo security call center.

Called me sounding like an arab, hard to understand. Said he needs to shut my email down within 24 hours due to hackers in two other states, some how knew my email and name. Gave him permission just because I don't think he can, let's see how it goes.

Call regarding a $7000 US Treasury grant - free, no pay back required. Gave a code and another number to call back. 202-738-1123. Scam

I receive a call from 416-364-1111 regarding U.S. government grant and if I need them to de posit or sent western union this is a fraud. The voice sound like a Hindu lady this is a scam they are all telling lies to get your personal information to thief you. She said its free money

This guy called us at 6:50 IN THE MORNING saying it was a very important call about our computer.  Yeah, right.

A man with a Very thick East Indian accent called my land line last week
& yesterday a woman with same thick accent called my cell phone, both callers telling me there was an issue with my Microsoft program on my computer and to please go turn it on and they will help me to fix it.  The 1st call was from private number but the 2 nd call came from Ontario, Canada. I told both callers to send me an email regarding issue as Microsoft has my email address. Both seem to be trying to tell Me why they couldn't do that but accents so thick I couldn't understand them.  I said that if they were truly from Microsoft they wouldn't Be calling me, they'd email me, so EMAIL me if you're really from Microsoft.  This phish is not biting.  Both callers then hung up on me. I'm reporting this to police. The BBB, and warning listeners on our local radio. I hope someone can shut them down!!
Also be careful about getting phone numbers online for Microsoft.  My husband Called a number he googled for Microsoft for help with his email acct (I was out of town lol).  The phone # was a scam and we got a virus because he let them in!!

keeps calling saying i got a 9.000 dollar grant  i told them they were just scaming me and then was told was going to be reported to fbi.  i said fine stop calling in have a good day hung up.

Someone just called me. I didn't answer the phone. If I don't recognize the number I won't answer the phone. How to stop theses calls even when you are on the do not call registry .

They are still calling from this number (said Ontario, Canada) - I just got called DO NOT ANSWER!  If you don't know the number, simply do not answer!
