I got a call from 416-915-7933 today, but when I picked up the phone and said hello, no one responded. When I phoned the number back, a recorded message said the company is Optima Communications International. There is no way to leave a message for them as their mail box is full. Very nice.

Why don't the idiots at least ensure that someone will be on the line ready to talk when their auto-dialer makes a call? The answer: Because they want to optimize every second of their employees' time, so they don't waste a penny. In contrast, they think the time I take to answer their stupid phone call is worth nothing.

this is a Dun and Bradstreet (D&B)office that blocks ID or shows up on caller ID as ETOBICOKE which is a suburb of Totonto. The woman had a very strong Indian accent so I assume that the caller ID is simply false and a conduit for a Bangalore call center

The only way to stop these calls is to either

1.) Ask to be put on the Do not Call List. Until you actually say DO NOT CALL ME ANYMORE, we will still keep at it.
2.)Listen to what we have to say rather then hanging up or freaking out.....hanging up only puts your number back into the dialer because we disposition it as hang up....take the 2 mins and then say I'M NOT INTERESTED so we can disposition the call correctly.
3.) Don't get someone else to speak for you..... telling your boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/child/husband to relay to us that you are not interested does not work....you will receive another call.
Why treat someone that is calling you like crap????? Really a job is a job....don't take it out on the person who is calling you. Take up your issues with the company itself which is in charge of the calling list.

It was Scotia Bank calling to tell me that I have been approved for a credit card with the bank.  I told her that I'm not with Scotia and all she could do was shutter and ruffle through some papers lol

They are still operating.  I think this is a huge issue so I published this on FaceBook. Even if we can't legally stop them, we can help people avoid this nuisance calls.

They called my house while I was at work. My parents said the call was on behalf of Scotiabank about insurance. They've only called once and have never called back again. Apparently, from reading other posts here, it's Optima Communications.

I know for a fact that RBC, CIBC, and Scotiabank give our names, addresses, and phone numbers to outside call centers for telemarketing purposes. The banks pay thousands of dollars to these call centers for selling bank products (credit cards, insurance packages, balance protectors, etc).

That's capitalism for you. Don't blame the telemarketers. They're just trying to pay rent and eat.

This number calls various days of the week, excluding Sundays, and anywhere between 7:30 am - 9:00 pm MST.To make matters worse we have a second phone number on our line that is usually used to recievve faxes. So they call our regular phone number and then call the fax number! It really is very annoying.

I'm not sure who they are calling on "behalf" of because they never leave a message. When I do answer it is usually someone with a thick foriegn accent that I cannot understand or a auto dialer that asks you to wait for "the next availble representative".

I have asked to be removed from their call lists numerous times. I have ignored them. I have hung up on them. NOTHING seems to work. I have even let my 2 year old twin grandbabes play with the phone and talk to them.

I have decided that ignoring them is most irritating to them. Long term effects will be a cost to them; the purchase cost of my information, the cost of long distance calls, the labour/equipment costs and overhead. We all know what really matters to these "businesses" is profit. If they are spending money and not making any, they will eventually change stratigies. (r hopefully go broke!) If it is really important they will leave a message or send me hard copy info through snail mail.

This number has called my phne number for months.

No answer, dead call. I hate those machine that first call me, then when I say "hello" get connected to an operator. No operator means a dead end call.

If that's Scotiabank called that they are breaking the law, because I'm on the do not call list.
    Trash bank ?

    Hey Mike...

thats great to hear that you are on the Do not Call....BUT are you a scotia bank customer???? Then we are allowed to call you because you have an existing business relationship with scotiabank......

Calls just about once every other day, at around 5pm.
I pick up, no one ever answers.
Someone stop these illegal telemarketers. I'm on a the do not call list, and while this is generally working pretty well these days, these guys ignore it, and need to be punished.

Hey Mike as I stated above, if you have an existing business relationship with scotiabank. WE ARE ALLOWED TO CALL YOU!!!!! There are exceptions to the Do Not Call. Maybe you should check that out because the Do Not Call list is not all it's cracked up to be.

    (same Mike again)
Got a call again, this time a person answered.
Something about Mastercard and he referred to my wifes name.
Without asking what it was about I told him I think it is in violation of the do not call list and asked to be removed from the list.
He said he would remove me from the list, then the phone went dead.
He didn't say goodbye or anything.
Clearly, the attitude of a telemarketer.
Yes, I really think people *ARE* violating this list.
The list overall works pretty well, and only very few seem to be ignoring it.
Come to think of it, the company that owns 416-915-7933 is the *ONLY* company that we're currently getting unsolicited calls from.
This is clearly not Scotiabank I think. I think it's a telemarketing company that is hired by companies like Scotiabank and Mastercard it seems.
Although I understand you guys want to make a living, the whole nature about doing this in an unsolicited way kind of violates the do not call list. I thought this was actual law in Ontario?
Except for things like charity and actual companies informing clients about their actual business, these calls shouldn't happen.
And after this person happily removing me from the list, it clearly smells like not existing business but new unsolicited business.
My bank branch for instance doesn't have a "do not call" list for their actual customers because that doesn't make sense.
I feel for you guys, but I think I kind of trapped you on this one...
Or else, explain, because it's not looking good.
