- The Word DoctorGot this call today, and every day for the past week or two. My husband and I do have a Scotiabank account, but they have never called us for anything, so we don't fit with the pattern others have described. However, because I work at home, I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. Similarly, I don't answer blocked calls or calls that come up as "unknown". This caller has never left a voice mail either, but does call as late as 9 p.m.est. Aggravating!
- Amy StillarThey call me once a week! Defintely Scotiabank. Trying to sell some sort of hospital insurance. They don't take no for an answer.
- Caller: Scotiabank
- Catnumber keeps calling me and never leaves a message.
- employeeHey Mike...
I understand your frustrations. BELIEVE ME!!! Right now I would rather be doing anything else but bothering people at home....but I have no choice...but thats another story...
When you asked him to be put on the Do Not Call list he was supposed to inform you that it can take up to 31 days to clear your name from all of the systems....did he tell you that? I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the guy...you would think that someone calling you at home during personal time would show a little more compassion then that. If you happen to receive another call just ask to speak to a supervisor and they can take your number off right away. The thing with that Do Not Call list is if you have an existing relationship with a company they are exempt from it so we are technically not breaking any laws. Also, charities, newspapers and surveys are exempt from the list as well. Trust me, that Do Not Call list is not all it is cracked up to be. Offshore telemarketers can buy that list for $50 and harass you anytime of the day. You are better off taking your number off the list and when you do receive calls ask them to put you on the internal Do Not Call or you can even add a service to your home phone (if you are with bell) which blocks telemarketers from calling you.....
Trust me Mike.....I hate telemarketing just as much as you do - rodThey have been calling me exactly the same time every day for awhile, most of the time no message. Last time they said it was tami looking for carol from holiday beach resort . I think it is most likely scotia bank and some sleazy sales method...
- Gail Gilmoreget this call all the time. When I answer, there's never an answer back. So I don't know who or what the caller is.
- TomThis number always calls me on Friday mornings, but never leaves a voice mail.
- Caller: not sure
- Brenda CurrieI usually just disconnect from this number because I'm so sick of them calling me at least three time a week. They just called again and it's Saturday!!! They are driving me up the wall, I don't want them to phone here anymore.
- employeeHi Brenda....
Next time you receive a call don't hang up...ask to speak to a supervisor right away because the supervisor will take your number out of the system. - csrIt was an autodialer... I heard the delay before the foreign woman started to talk. I didn't stay on the line long enough to hear who it was though.
When you call it back it says: "if you dialed this number you've been contacted by optima communications international..." You can actually leave them a message, but I doubt it would do any good. - Messenger514906481 and many others. Multiple calls per day. Nobody answering.
DO NOT EVER PICK UP THE PHONE. Everytime you pick up the phone, the phone companies are making money. 4-7 cents a call. Tens of Thousands of calls a day. Millions of calls per month. Millions of dollars earned. YOU GET THE PICTURE. Profits are down dramatically since the arrival of SKYPE and VOIP.
"No answer" calls are dialled by computers. Computers can dial and complete one call every 30 seconds. 24/7. Computer software is cheap. Profits made are huge, driven by people picking up their phones. Only pick up numbers you recognize, or where the name/company shows on the display. If in doubt, leave it to the answering device. If your answering device picks up the call, THERE IS NO CHARGE.
Don't get fooled by "survey" calls, these are not surveys, just lames at the other end who get hired to dial numbers all day long for peanuts. Often you are dealing with immigrants or students, cheap bottom-of-the-barrel labor. These calls are only about increasing the profit margins for the phone companies. Yes, there are credit card scammers and the likes, unfortunately you will have to learn just as much about who's doing what, in order to keep your phone bills down. The cheapest way to do this, is via the answering machine. Private callers will, in most cases, leave a message. However, the latest phone scams (credit card re-balance, loss-of-weight scams) now use voice driven software, that will engage with your answering machine. THIS STILL WON"T COST YOU A DIME. Plus you can recognize easily the computer generated voice, introducing him or herself with a common first name.
Don't pick up the phone. Save yourself the aggravation.
And don't ever be in doubt about banks calling you. All major banks have the same strict safety policy in place. This policy is published on their website. THEY WILL NOT EVER MAKE UNSOLICITED CALLS OR SEND UNSOLICITED EMAILS. PERIOD. Somebody calls you from a "bank" - you know you're dealing with criminals. Pure and simple. The strategy is always the same. Whether it's computerdriven or man-driven. So forget about your bank calling you. It will not ever happen. Unless, of course, you called your branch, and they are rhen returning your call. - Jeff Swansongot a call from 1-416-915-7933 that woke me up and got me out of bed. When I answered, nobody responded, it just hung up. I called them back and got Optima Communications or something like that.
- HurricaneSangMy business partner and I filled out an application for a Dun & Bradstreet credit rating and have ever since been plagued with these 416 phone calls! They say they are calling from Dun & Bradstreet but we keep telling them that were not interested in there promotion and to please stop calling. It hasn't worked. Aren't there laws against this type of harrassement?
- Caller: Dun & Bradstreet
- SydneyThis is not Scotiabank. It is a scam that is being operated in the name of Scotia Bank. I have contacted the bank, and they told me that Scotiabank has nothing to do with the calls.
SCAM. - BruceThey repeatedly call and do not leave a message.Called the number and a message says something to the effect that :"You have reached Optimal Communications International,if you have recently received a call from us we apologize for any inconvenience and you could leave us a message."
I believe it is marketing company.- Caller: optimal(or optima) communications intern
- EdwinCalled and hang up...Is there no way to stop these calls?
Its so annoying and nobody wants to do anything about it. - AnnoyedThese people called me on the weekend stating they were with Scotia trying to sell me insurance. I tried to tell the lady very nicely that I was interested and she just would not take no for an answer. She sounded just like an automated machine and I kept trying to tell her I wasnt interested numerous times before she finally got the point. Not shocked to see that yet again I just got another call from them. I didnt answer and they didn't leave a voicemail either. I'm sure I'll get another call soon.
- bugga_booThis call is from "Optima Communications International". It's a recorded message asking you to leave a message. Regardless of what time of day, the number seems to always be set to go to this recording.
Quite annoying.- Caller: Optima Communications International
- LLThis number has called me several times in the last two weeks, they hang up when I pick up and they do not leave messages. I called the number back and it had a greeting which stated it was optima communications and you can leave a message, I left a message for them to take me off the caller/distribution list.
- Caller: optima communications
- regi just got my first one of these calls. after reading the comments, i have a feeling that this a marketing company phishing for active numbers. if your number picks up, then they boot your name on to a list that is sold to other telemarketers.
if they hit an answering machine, expect more calls at varying times until they get a live body. once they have that live body..the time of call, and number are booted over to the active list to enable other telemarketers to be effective when they make their phone calls.
they must be using skype or some other computer phone communications to make these calls. it would be awfully expensive to be a cell phone to call all over canada..i'm in area code 250.
