My call from 416-947-0000 was prefixed by 011.  Be cautious.  Returning some calls can cause you to rack up large long distance charges.  A number starting with 011 will send your call outside of the US.

I recall being on a Caribbean island a while back where calls off the island (& therefore calls to the island) ran $5.00 a minute, including 800 numbers.

For the last few years we have received calls from this number at least 2 or 3 times a day. No one is on the other end.  The provider of their service is Bell Canada in Toronto, Ontario. How can I STOP IT??

Over the past year I have received numerous calls from this number and for the past month, it's getting to be almost daily again!  Who is this, can someone stop these calls?  I tried to call the number back and the recording says "this number cannot accept incoming calls"

Got another call from this number at 9:25 a.m. Saw the number on caller ID and didn't answer it.  I called the 800 number to block calls from this phone number but it takes 31 days to do so..  Looks like SOMEONE could get to the bottom of this and stop these annoying calls.........

I live in Anchorage, AK and I'm so fed up with all the damn daily hangup messages from this phone number on my answering machine that I want to get even with them - anyone on-board with me?  I finally turned off my answering machine so I didn't have to go thru all the annoying hangups....I was getting up to 20 of these unsolicited calls per day.....These harrassing phone calls  started about 3 weeks ago.....I finally contacted GCI to complain about being harrassed (which is what I consider it) and they simply told me to call the cops or pay for the blocking service (which I found out will not fix this problem as it is a business phone number and not a personal residential line - so don't pay for this if that's what you were planning on doing)....Call the cops, like the cops are going to investigate this because they have nothing else better to do - right.....If any of you are like me, I'm sure as hell not going to pay for a blocking service when I feel it is my phone companies responsibility to keep my telephone line "safe" from crackpots and scammers like this anyway.....I think that we all need to call and email our elected officials (Murkowski, Young, and pretty boy Begich) and get some answers as this scam appears to really be hitting Alsakan's pretty hard......If there is a good lawyer out there to fight for our cause maybe we could all file a class action lawsuit against this scammer or scammers too.....If so please post your phone number and I will call - I'm fed up with these clowns in the cyber world....Anyone else have any better ideas - please post them....

Unfortunately these calls appear as if they are coming from the New Zealand Consulate in Toronto, Canada.  Many years ago a telemarketing company hijacked the number of the Consulate and input it into their system to make it appear as if the calls are originating from this number.  This is not the case.  Please note that several years ago the New Zealand Consulate changed its own telephone number and spent a considerable amount of time and money trying to track down the abusers.  This is extremely difficult as it involves telecommunications companies in both Canada and the US.  Please be aware that the consulate is as much a victim of this number theft as each of you.  I do recommend that you contact your own telecom supplier and local officials who should be aware of the situation.  You can also try dialing *69 to see if the real call identifier comes up.  As this is no longer the telephone number of the Consulate there is nothing that we can do.

Regional Maple Leaf is a company in Canada that sells ads for handbooks for young people, i.e., drug facts and the Elementary Safety Book for Children. I know this because, we agreed, as a business, to sponsor them 1 year for 1 of their books at a certain price. Not soon after we received a notice that we owed $460 for the ads we agreed to run in both handbooks. Needless to say we payed them to get them off our backs. They called again this year and we told them of our experience and that we're not interested. Today, I received 10 calls from this number and 0114169470000, which is this same company that comes up unknown. They absolutely will not take no for an answer.

Get a call from this number a lot...Never anyone there if I pick up. I'm even on the National DNC list~

Next time they call me, I'm gonna run my own little scam... I will answer this way: "Hello, Sioux Falls 911 Emergency, What is the nature of your emergency?!" Maybe they will delete my number for fear of the cops getting pissed off! Try it...maybe they will get the hint!

We receive a call after working a graveyard shift, answer the call but NO ANSWER!!!

I have had it! This has been going on for months and months. We get calls several times a day, every day of the week. No one ever answers and the phone usually only rings two or three times if we don't pick up.

I've tried complaining to the Canadian authorities (sorry your number is not a valid Canadian number). I've tried complaining to the US Do Not Call registry (sorry, their number is not a US number).  I've complained to my carrier. I've complained to my wife. She's complained to me. Now I'm complaining online.

I just sent an ultimatum to my phone company. The calls stop or I'm canceling my land-line. If that doesn't work, then next device I hook up to the phone lines will be my welder!

This kind of harassment is intolerable. They call during meals, they call on Sunday morning. They call at 4:00 a.m. for Christ's Sake!  I don't even answer my home phone any more. I'm pissed off and not going to take it!

Screw Iraq and Afganistan! I say we invade Canada and hunt down these pricks!

I answered the phone the other day and they asked for my husband.  I asked what it was in reference to and he said fund raising.  I told him to stop calling our number and hung up.  A few hours later they called again.

Last September I got a call from 416-947-0000. It was a French guy screaming "oui!" "oui!". He kept asking for Isabelle. A few days later my dad received the same call. Now a year later, I am getting calls anywhere between midnight and 3:00am... Only rings twice, never answered any.

Since I'm in Canada, I filed a complaint on the Do Not Call registry.

Got a call from this number on December 5, 2009 and there was no one on the other line.

Take note of the number from the Consular Representative from Toronto.
I just started getting calls from this number and I started goggling it and this came up.  If there were some serious problems the individual could try calling the head office in Ottawa.

Hope this helps someone out there, as for me just put my number on the "Do Not Call List".

I'm pretty sure this is just a routing number - my friend just called my land line from a Skype account and this is the number that came up.

That would explain why you can't phone it back.  And that would also be why it can't be blocked.
