- funny thing happened on the phone| 2 repliesYou all crack me up.... a collection agency gets your information from the company they are collecting a debt for... They don't make it up.
If they have a phone number it's only because someone gave them that number to reach them at. If it's a mistake call them, be nice to them, they are only doing their jobs and they will take the number off the account they are collecting on.
Sometimes information is provided to them and it's a mistake, it is their job to collect money owed on a debt the someone owes to another company.
Irate calls to them, doesn't help the situation. Yyour rudeness to them, as your rudeness to any person or place of business only brings on rudeness. (I talking to (Annoyed)...
They have a job to do, in this day with job loss and economic decline, thier business is important to other companies collecting money owed them. And some times there are mistakes,
(Annoyed) needs to get over them selves.....
Have a nice day! - AnnoyedFunny thing....before you make a comment like get over yourself you need to realize that by them calling me and leaving me messages it costs me $$. I have talked to them MANY times and told them to take me off their list, that I have no idea who this person is, etc...they have been nothing but rude to me so finally I got rude back...and FINALLY they are leavingme alone. If you were to ask ANYONE that knows me that would laugh if you said that I had been rude to anyone. But enough is enough!
- PinkCudaAARRidiculous. This was absoultey uncalled for. The first call was from Mr. Olsen. Received call on home #, no message left. When I called back, they were extremely rude. Turns out the debt is for my fiance and he was hell-bent on speaking to him about the debt. My fiance gave Mr.Olsen permission to only speak with me regarding this debt, mind you, "on the recorded line" I specifically asked he stop calling, as this was getting to the point of harrassment. I work in the construction/commercial collection industry and I am completly aware of the ever changing RCW's of the fair debt collection act. After I informed Mr. Olsen on the recorded line to cease collection effort, I thought that was the end.
The next morning, my finance received a phone call at his place of employment from an extremely rude, Ms. Hunter. I called back, I eventually was transfered to her, and she reminded me again that this was being recorded. I informed her of RCW 19.16.250 Article 12 Clause B; that I have already informed Mr. Olsen that we requested on a recorded line to cease contact and collection efforts, and she told me it didn't matter what I said, because she can contact my fiance at anytime to get the information she needed. I let her know that I would be sending a certified letter informing them in writing to stop calling. I did tell her that if she called again, all phone records and violation information would be sent to the state attorney general's office; and all of a sudden she wanted to end the call!! She just kept saying "I have noted the account, is there anything I can help you with before I disconnect the call" and I told her if she disconnected the call she can mark the account as uncollectable.
This is totally unacceptable! She was rude, and when she got caught, she didn't want to talk anymore. COMPLETE JOKE! - PinkCudaAARTo: "Pay Up America"
It is interesting to me that you would be posting on here, if you also didn't get a call from these crazy unprofessional debt collectors? - Annoyed too !!Just to let everyone know that DATELINE just did a huge show about theses companies that call you. They may have taken over an old debit, or new and are being paid pennies on the dollar to get money. And beleive it or not they do get the wrong phone numbers sometime - I have even had the local police call me about a person - who was in their jail cells and gave them a false number - guess whos number it ended up being !!!
These companies use harassing tactics - that is what they are told to do,even stooping so low as to threaten you, or your family..... WRONG !!! Get the phone number and report them to you local police department. Beleive it or not - we have rights too and they can not harass or threaten you like that. Know your rights. Sure if you owe the bill, you owe the bill, but we are all trying to make it through these tough times and work things out,and not lose our houses, but threaten me and I'll tell you to BLOW and you will be the last on my list and probably get nothing then !!!!!hahahaha Have a great day to all and dont let them get you down : ) - hollsheavy indian accent. Asks for owner. Tell them it is owned by multiple people and caller hangs up.

- opg4711They're a medical collections agency based in Washington and Evergreen Medical / Evergreen Hospital is their primary customer. And they are EXTREMELY RUDE!!!
I had a balance of a whopping $15.56 - which I had paid at the Dr's Office last week - but they didn't believe me! Then proceeded to read me the riot act and asked what the Receipt # was (I was driving and that receipt was filed in an envelope at home). I was polite, courteous and nice (I used to work in a Call Center and can attest that the NICE PEOPLE get more options) but this lady was having a bad day.
I finally explained, again, I paid this bill at the Dr last week and I was sorry if she didn't believe me, but it was the truth and I'm driving so i really shouldn't be on a cell phone. I wished her a good day and said I was hanging up while she continued to rant.- Caller: Merchants Credit
- ReadyForActionI have gotten NONSTOP calls from them! Sometimes up to 12 a day. Jerks call before my son wakes up and the ringing wakes him up. They call at least 3 times everyday btween 8:10 and 8:20 and I am about to unleash some heavy Attorney action on their butts.
They call and DEMAND money when I do answer the phone, when I say ummm we don't have that kinda money right now they say "good luck mam" as if to say they're threatening me and then hang up.
I have HAD it! YES we owe the money, WORK with us on how much we CAN pay or get NO money at ALL! Plain and simple. We will NOT pay as much as what they want us to when we are struggling to feed our son. literally scrounging money together to go get food. Jerks.
Just a few minutes ago they called again (8th time today) and I picked it up ready to blow a whistle in their ear and it told me to wait on hold for them and then to call them back. Yea. Like that's gonna happen. And to the person who said "if you're polite to the collector they'll be polite to you" BULLCRAP, they've called my mom and told her they were gonna tell my dad that she was his (the guy calling) girlfriend if she didn't pay, and they had gotten the wrong number even!
I will NOT pay them. If they are going to conduct themselves in this way, I will not, hell or high water, pay these idiots.- Caller: UNKOWN NAME
- TLAI have a message on my cell phone from (425) 643-2613 number asking me to call (800) 755-1107 saying I need to talk to the first representative and that it is not a solicitation. They did not leave a name.
I don't have any outstanding debt or anything in collection that I am aware of. After reading these comments I am unsure if I should call it back! - Some debt, not this one!I missed two back-to-back calls from this number and decided to look them up before calling back. Yep, a collection agency! I blocked the calls so I never have to even see that they called, but then interest got the better of me... WHY were they calling? So I bit the bullet and called them. I had missed the collectors by one minute (apprently they only harass people until 5:30 PST), but I spoke with a woman in customer service who was REALLY... nice. She told me she couldn't do anything regarding a payment, I assured her that wouldn't be an issue.. lol. She gave me their address (which I already had, I just wanted her to know that I would be sending a C&D letter) and the account number. I asked if she knew who the creditor was and she gave me their name and the amount - only $59.98, which should have been covered by insurance. She asked if there was anything else I needed (forgot to ask for the date of service), and I told her no, that I would handle it through the company directly, that I did not owe anything. She was perfectly pleasant.
I checked my debt file (sadly, I do have one) and there's nothing there from the original creditor. I checked my regular medical file and there's nothing there, either. Which means all copays were paid at the time of service and the rest should have been covered. And I received no bills. No late notices. Nothing.
Moral of the story? Before you freak out on the collection agency, check the original source. Mine is closed now but tomorrow I will be jumping on them regarding this... Why no statements? No notices? Not a single phone call?? The bad guy could very well be the medical facility. - Jayden KylieMerchants Credit, this phone number comes from their Redmond, Washington address. Linden, MI 48451 - JustMeI have had it with these people. They began calling probably 9 months ago and said we had a bill with them. We were covered by DSHS and we faxed in the information to pay the bill. Thought we were done but no. Apparently there were two bills and one was missed in the billing. Got another call and the lady said she would take care of it. I assumed it was taken care of. Then I get a call today from them again and the lady starts telling me I should borrow money from anyone I know to take care of this. We are unemployed and you can't get blood from a turnip. I tried to explain that we were covered and if I could get details I would try to get insurance to cover it. Enter here a long diatribe about how this is my responsibility and they don't bill insurance companies and she doesn't know who would say they would. On and on we go until she tells me that I need to call back to talk to a manager because I obviously don't get it. Tells me I'm either stupid or just not listening to her. Refuses to give me any information other than a date of service. I want to get this taken care of but they aren't helping at all. If they billed for this date of service in the past I can't see why they are flat refusing to now. Grrrr..
- indentured servitudeI didn't answer today, but have before. I have over $20k of medical debt from when I was in critical care without insurance. I've asked for a payment plan, but they say they can't provide one. My case is probably exceptional but the callers have always been fairly polite. I guess when they know I am closer to bankruptcy than payment they hide their teeth.
- wolfieit is illegal for them to say you have won something etc. If you ask them what company they are, they HAVE TO TELL you. They also HAVE TO give you what is called the mini miranda "this is an atempt to collect a debt yada yada yada" If they don't report them to the ATTORNEY GENERAL
- EmployerReceived a call from these rude unprofessional collectors this morning. When I told the young man on the phone to contact the employee at home as they are not allowed to receive personal phone calls he became RUDE and ARGUMENTITIVE with me. Asking my name and asking to speak to another person in our office who can "put him right through" to the employee. What this person failed to realize is he got me (HR Manager) and I do not provide information on any employee nor am I required to. He proceeds to call back three times and try to bully me. I will be filing a complaint regarding this company! Keep in mind sometimes the 'victims' of this company are not the ones who owe the debt and they are preventing us from conducting legitimate business.

- Troubled by callsI had a sudden life or death experience that landed me in the hospital emergency room to save my life. It turns out it was MERSA infection due to no fault of my own. After two weeks off hospital stay I was well enough to leave without dying. One doctor's bills were not paid by my coverage and he went through these guys to collect. Collect with a vengence they did. Without even talking to me they took the $1,800 dollars out of my bank account. Problem is, I recently lost my job and they took my rent money which I had already written a check to cover. With much fury on my part I discovered that they cannot do that when one is in my situation, they had to restore the money. The bank was even angry at them and said privately that banks hate them and their tactics. These people are like mafia scum. They are not business as usual bill collectors, but pure greed and evil. They all have fake names like Mr. Black or Mr. Brown or Mrs. White and swear it is their birth name. They back down when confronted with the laws. Half of all people going bankrupt in the U.S. this last year are from medical bills. Hospitals using these guys to extort money out of people in bad siuations shows how people have changed in this country. The UW Hospital should be picketed for using such low life scumbags as the them. I've considered buying an auto-dialer to call them every fifteen minutes around the clock.

- im donegot a call today from these people when this $35 debt was paid off a month ago and a month before that. it all started a few months ago, they called and i answered, sent the $35 check the next day. it cleared, then got a call in october and did the exact thing. by this time im thinking its strange that ive now paid this bill twice but its not that important, if another $35 will shut them up then so be it. get a call today, answer it and its the same company trying to collect the same bill. i explain that its already been paid, she explains that this is there first record of me and that theyve never even called before. so i ask for them to send me some sort of document in the mail because im keeping track of my money this time, she explained that sending something was too expensive on a debt this small, i laugh and say then i guess youll not be getting any more of my money. if they call again i will ask to speak to a supervisor, BTW this original debt is real and i am the person they are trying to contact.

- SteveThese people call me every few weeks. I tell them they have the wrong number as no one in my residence knows the person being asked for. They say thank you and again call about 3 weeks later. So I just let it go to voice mail and they never leave a message. If companies are harassing you at home, just ignore the call. Kind of hard to intimidate people who they cannot speak to.

- Dryden01Got a call from this number and the caller ID only said Bellevue, WA. I have a cell phone and like many others use it for receiveing calls only from people I want to hear from. The home phone is for outgoing calls only. If an outfit like this calls, they go into a voice message hell that says my voice message inbox is full and then they are hanged up on.
