We had the same thing.  Wanted to book 2 rooms for 2 weeks.  Gave two different card numbers and would never give us an address or phone number.  only communicated by email.  Gave the name Jonathan Godfred.

Same person called and tried to book 2 rooms for 2 weeks at our hotel.  Scam Artist.

Just received an e-mail from Karen Wyatt. Thank goodness for the vigilant people giving us all a heads up.

Asked them for no. to call back on and never got a response.

Can someone explain the scam please?

we got the same email in our hotel's general managers mail, 4 rooms for 15 days for Davion Simon.....EXACT same email. I unfortuntely did not catch this as a scam until I tried to charge the cards - both declined. Thankfully.

This has also happened to our front desk. Below is a a copy of part of the email sent to us. He began the conversation by asking for 4 suites for 15 nights.  The front desk staff thought it was suspicious.
So we googled the name and phone number and found other have had the same run in.

I had exactly the same enquiry e-mail today from a Helen Cook - ckhelen609@gmail.com. 4 rooms, 4-17 June 2017. We don't have 4 rooms ( holiday cottage). Anyone genuinely wanting to stay would know that already. So I spotted it as a scam but was interested to see if others had received them. It seems a lot of you have. I shall be ignoring it.

We had a Simon Davion sending us eMails from davionsimon111@yahoo.com. He wanted to book 4 rooms for 2 weeks and provided several credit card information but none of them was working. So we had 4 rooms blocked until we realized it was fake :-(

Yes we received the same set of messages from Terrence Waynick at our guest ranch in Arizona.  We think he is trying to get refunds on stolen credit cards.

Aloha!   Same kind of deal.  Can't figure out scam as they want us to charge both cards in full prior to arrival.   They did provide address and CID numbers when asked.   I charged, then had bad feeling so looked up, voided.    Asked to speak to them to confirm guest info.

The same message also was sent to me but i have reported the credit card numbers they sent to me.. if possible you can post the card number provided to you so they can be reported asap.. i feel that will be better...

beware! scam! one day after successful payment he will send you an email to cancel the booking and send the refund to a different creditcard or bank account like:

Dear Sir/Ma

How are you doing ? We are very sorry that we have to cancel our reservations at your hotel as we unable to make it due to some reasons.

My family had an auto accident in which my wife sustain some injuries, that we could not make the holiday trip to your country as schedule and we lost some vital documents including my credit cards and at the moment we are on a sick bed.

My Bank already blocked my Credit Card, in other for the thieves to use my credit card information. So we hereby want to cancel our reservations in your hotel.

Please kindly get back to me as soon as possible so that we know how to proceed on the Refund then I can forward my NEW Credit Card or IBAN to you where to send my refund for the payment made for the bookings in your hotel.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience we might have caused you at this time. Your kindly assistance is highly appreciated at this difficult time.

he never answederes a question and kept sending the same messages also in all upper case. when telling him we booked the total amount back to the card it was charged from we never heard anything from him again.
we often get emails like this but since then we keep on saying payment by arrival.

I have just had the same booking here in Wales UK. Looked like a scam so didn't take booking. Lucky escape. Thanks people for confirmation.

We had the Pauline Ann email a few months ago as well, in Galveston, TX. Yesterday we had L J Goulding with roughly the same message, requesting availability and total bill for 4 rooms for ~2 weeks. In both cases, after sending our total costs for our different condo sizes, we received a reply in ALL CAPS as follows,
