I replyed yes because i was in work and my wife was using my card for shopping....what do i do?

had a text saying "Halifax has noticed your debit card was used" they had the last 4 digits of my card, time, date and location of where i last used it on the net and wanted me to reply yes or no on whether I did this transaction. Halifax would not do this.

Received a text message enquiring about an amount coming out, and to press yes or no if this was us. After reading the comments on here (thanks everyone) we phoned our bank and theycancelled our card, and reissued a new one. The payment was trying to be debited from the states.

I received this text message as stated from many of you above. I didn't ignore it. I did reply "no" and then called the number replied to me with.
I had, had a small amount (£6.60) removed from my account in America. The lady at Halifax told me that this was just a "tester" from the thief to check the card worked, and a much larger amount would have followed shortly!
My card was cancelled immediately and a new one sent out to me.

its legit guys, i was buying a gaming computer so they understandably got worried and messaged me. i panicked and data mined and found the number to be legit, i messaged back Yes and they told me to wait ten min and attempt again. now i have a gaming computer :-D

I was rudely awakened by a text from this number - I thought the reply 'yes' or 'no' seemed a little odd, however I then went straight onto my internet banking and armed with all my own transactions called Lloyds, who confirmed that yes a payment had been flagged up as possible fraud. It transpired that this was a payment I hadn't made myself. So, whilst not the most fun start to my day I would recommend contacting your bank if you receive a message like this.

This number is The Bank Of Scotland. They contacted me to ask if I'd made a purchase on my card at a certain store. I had not. I checked my bank account and found 7 unauthorized transactions had taken place at the other end of the country. If you get a text from this number I'd advise to contact your bank quick as possible.

Hi all. I got the same message this morning, just ignore that and after 1 hour get the phone call from Lloyds to confirm that was everything ok  so I do not think this is  fraud or any kind of scum.

Took me a while to work out what is going on here.  Corrupt bank staff send these texts and make these calls.  If you reply they then ask for security details 'to confirm who you are'.  If you respond they then take money from your account and when you complain to the bank through their legitimate contact details they say the texts/calls you received must have been from a fraudster.  If you don't respond but contact the bank through their legitimate contact details they will say the texts/calls were genuine in the hope of tricking you into responding the next time.  Source:  personal experience.

obviously you never worked in fs sector; every access to customers' accounts is logged on secure servers, so their fraud investigation dept will easily verify which MoS could have accessed personal data like security id, plus which workstation moved funds; & they only get max 2 of any PIN needed to verify id of person being called. so, numpty, what did police find/do when you reported your "personal experience" to them?

Similar story. I wasn't convinced that the 'yes'  'no' text was genuine. I phoned Lloyds bank to check. It was from the fraud department at the bank. They had blocked the transaction that was in the text after identifying a £0.00 payment to Apple Store in my pending payments. This is something the fraudsters do to check if the account is active. My card has now been cancelled. If I hadn't responded I would have found it impossible to use next time I tried.
Moral of the tale: remain cautious , keep all anti virus software up to date, do not allow any card details to be stored on- line, phone your bank to find out what is going on. They want to know about fraudsters.

Like the others, this was a legitimate text from my bank, about an actual attempted fraud charge. I called their line (as listed on the web page) and the woman I connected to made it clear that the text was from them.

I received a text from this number after they detected suspicious activity on my account. I replied and got worried so went into my local Halifax branch and they confirmed it was legitimate and it was their anti-fraud service. So this number is not a scam!

This number is legit, I received a message saying the same as everyone else at half 5 in the morning and thought it was strange, so i called my bank and they said it was there fraud team just making sure I did make the transaction because I have never made that transaction before.

I PHONED MY BANK, IT IS FOR REAL!
I got the text, replied, then panicked as the second message wasn't well phrased and had quotation marks instead of an apostrophe - the kind of silly errors you wouldn't expect from a large bank.  So I phoned - on the number I have on a paper statement just to make sure - and it was legitimate, and my card had been cloned!  He also said the number covers other banks in the Lloyds Plc group, hence why some people here got the same from Halifax.
ALWAYS PHONE YOUR BANK TO CHECK!

I called my bank, it was for real!  Worth following it up! Although they've probably contacted you again by now.  Hope it got sorted and you didn't lose any money!

The odd comments saying this is a genuine call from banks are part of the scam..........
Had same message, blah blah blah. Straight away deleted msg. Called bank to be told this was indeed a scam and that they also leave comments saying otherwise.  Never reply to any queries regarding your bank or personal information via telephone or email,  email.  If in doubt, just call your bank.
