Don't ignore this message unless you want to risk your account being hacked. If you don't want to reply, fine, but do call your bank to check. I received this message but was wary, so I rang the bank using the number on the back of the card. They confirmed the message was genuine. Some scumbag had got into my account. They cancelled the card before any damge could be done, and all is well

It is genuine, I called my bank (Halifax) to confirm and it was because I used Apple Pay in Sainsbury’s instead of contactless or chip and pin.

I had this message after I used a US site. I got a message beforehand, from Halifax, on the same number I had other messages from giving me the heads up about maintenance on internet banking site AND texting me to confirm whether me changing my phone number was correct. They informed me that I will be receiving a text to confirm recent activity on my card. A minute later, I got a text from this number, with information regarding my transaction. Correct website, correct time, correct amount (give or take a few pence due to exchange rate) and the right last four digits.

    It's a legit number.

No way Halifax could have text me telling me of it before, and have all the correct info otherwise. For the record, Halifax are part of the Lloyds Banking group, so it's a number that could be used by both banks.

After reading all these negative comments and having my card hacked with someone trying to spend £1 to buy bitcoins I rang Lloyds using a known number, they confirmed this number was one of theirs.

I had this text, following a text from Lloyds bank itself stating I will be asked to confirm activity on my account. Instead of responding to the text I phoned Lloyds bank myself and turns out I had money stolen from my account as a result of my card being cloned. Don’t ignore this, phone your bank if in doubt! Much easier and safer than just ignoring it or texting back if you’re unsure.
