I had same from Halifax this morning and replied No. shortly after had a phone call from Halifax they explained the transactions and i confirmed they were fraudulent. My card is cancelled from that point. Also just to check rang Halifax from there website and they confirmed the card is cancelled from this morning when i spoke to them. It would appear to be genuine. If worried call the bank directly or call into a branch. I have just come of the phone.

Is it just me but does anyone else find it strange that the Fraud Department of Halifax/Lloyd/TSB would 'phone up using an O2 mobile number?  One thing is for sure, the Police and the Banks say that if you receive a call regarding your account you should NEVER giver information.  You should hang up and unplug your 'phone from the socket.  Wait at least 30 minutes and then plug the 'phone back in and 'phone your bank on a number you know is genuine.  This is because the scammers keep the line open when you hang up so that, if you ring straight back, you are in fact still through to them.

I got a txt this morning from Lloyds. Thinking it was a scam I ignored it however later whilst internet banking I noticed something wrong so rang the bank. It was definitely genuine someone was trying to order expensive goods using my credit card. I must say Lloyds were excellent in their actions.

This number is legit. I had text from 'LLOYDS'. I rang the number on back of my card. The text is authentic. My card details have likely been hacked via online use. Card cancelled, new one ordered. DO NOT IGNORE

Dont reply to text it's a CON. I recieved the following text and never replied, phoned Bank of Scotland fraud team straight away. They've froze my account and sending out a new bank card, luckily when I was on the phone to the bank the con artists was trying again to buy another purchase online at USC £582.60.

Bank Of Scotland has noticed your debit card ending 8416 was recently used online on 22-06-2015 02:52:00, at Morrisons supermarket for £119.48. Please confirm if this transaction was made by you by replying Yes or No.

I got the same text from Lloyds when I was making a purchase online. I rang them up and queried the mobile phone number, they say 0800,  0845,  0202, etc. type numbers can't receive text replies to questions ('have you be defrauded? Reply Yes or No') so it has to come from a mobile number. Totally legit.

?!? Doesn't matter what time of night?!?!? If some1 is trying to make a payment using your details whether it be 3:00am in the morning or whatever then u will receive the text straight away! There isn't some guy sat in the office 9:00-5 writing out texts...
To point out this is GENUINE.
All the people saying its a con... If it's relating to a transaction u know nothing about then chances are your card has been cloned and they are trying to use it online... When payments get through to the verified by visa stage and it can't be verified --ie some1 using your details or you choose to cancel the transaction then Halifax/ lloyds automatically contact to confirm if it was you. -- plus to some of the other comments.. Halifax and lloyds are the same company!! They are part of the lloyds banking group! You try and apply for a job within Halifax and it'll take u to the lloyds career site ;)

Too much nonsense and misinformation on this thread. The number is the genuine bank number. If it has the last 4 digits of your card then they won`t authorise the payment you`ve made unless you answer yes or no.

Unfortunately, it is well known that scammers keep an eye on this website and post their own, fake, positive comments to try and fool people into thinking  number is genuine.  For that reason positive posts, like yours, are viewed with suspicion.  As I said in a previous post, advice from the police and the banks is to never, ever, respond to a 'phone call or text claiming to be from your bank.  As scammers can now spoof genuine bank numbers the calls can, indeed.appear to be from the bank. The spoofing only works on incoming calls to the victim so the scammers stay on the line after making the call.  Therefore, if you ring back immediately, you are still through to them.  If calls are to a landline you are advised to unplug your 'phone, wait about 10 minutes then call your bank on a number you know.  Mobiles should be switched off, again wait, then 'phonee your bank.
