Yeah, we got that same strange phone call too. 1-503-235-1259. We think it is a fake phone number that private investigators use to mis-direct people they call. (like "Kip Ward" and "Ron Ward", Licoln City, Oregon who also own the Historic Anchor Motel & Inn

Most likely it captures "your phone number" if you make the mistake and  call them back using it.

In our case, this number wasn't answered, but left an out-going message saying this number was disconnected etc. like it was from the operator or something.

This phone number called me about 3 minutes ago. It is a DHS number. The woman left me a message and said her name and where she was calling form. I tried to call her back and it took me to a message that said. THIS NUMBER IS NO LONGER IN SURVICE. The woman said that she would call me back in 10 minutes. So i am going to wait and see.

This is a generic State of Oregon switchboard number.  It is used by many state agencies; Administrative Services, Corrections, Employment, etc..  Even though we have a normal incoming type phone number, when we call out this number is displayed on your caller ID.  If you call the number back you get the "disconnected number" message.

Nothing I can change or control when I make my outgoing call.

Why does this person claim to wear several hats in my case refuses to give a full name. posting on the net has named several agencies how is this DHS business. Some one found it is from a payphone in DHS. The person identified themselves as from the department of revenue. What does that have to do with health and human services?

This number is from the State of Oregon in Salem.  Outward bound trunk thats why you can't call it back.  Could be Dept of Human Services, Child Support, or accounting for the State.

Rcvd call, no message, tried to call back, number disconnected.

This is the Oregon Unemployment Department - legitimate.  They individually cannot accept calls so you have to go to their 877#.

State outgoing number for many departments. Fish & Wildlife called to survey about successful or unsuccessful hunt this year.

I just received a call from this number. Dead silence. I hung up. If you read all seven pages of posts, it's pretty clear this is a State of Oregon general outgoing line used by multiple agencies. It's also clear many people who post don't take the time to read before posting. Just a little more thought makes it obvious why a person calling from a State of Oregon agency such as DHS, Revenue, or Employment would not leave a message. That might risk giving personal information to the wrong person.

Also, to those who think the caller should always leave a call-back number - perhaps you would think differently if you had a job in which you couldn't accomplish anything significant all day long because of constant phone interruptions.

This is the third day in a row I've gotten a all from this number. No message, and I can't ever seem to answer it. Called it back, but just rings.

This is a trick Background check folks do they port a number real quick and make calls then dump it they are fishing for information anything from credit to a person thats why when you call the number you get a weird reply they dont call you with a blocked number because people tend not to trust blocked number so the goal is to leave you confused and then you move on and ignore it.

I was unable to answer call and when I tried to call the # back it was disconnected?!

This number is for the Oregon Department of Revenue - luckily they had the wrong # WHEW

I got a letter in the mail about my health insurance, and they said if you've got any questions call a 1800 # so I did and I got a very rude lady, so I said thanks for nothing and hung up, well two seconds later I have the same 503 # and the lady was like I wish u didnt hang up on me like ghat, I was very fustrated as it is and you call me back and yell at me, like hello how dare you? Its not your job too call people back, and when I was like im not in the mood too talk , she hung up. Like wth are people evem allowed too do that ugh very annoying

Its a Oregon Overpayment Recovery Center. For Food Stamps. When they pay you out too much money and you owe.

This call was from pennsylvania. I think the lady said her name was april. It was early when she called. I didnt catch it in time. She called twice then left a message. She spoke so fast and it took me 5 times to hear what her callback number was. Heres what she said, "April, 2157433700, Thanks". I called up there and no one knew who april was or who I was.

It's from whatever state agency happens to be calling you in the Portland metro area.  If you use IP phones, your lines can all be routed through one central "trunk" line and give any number at the outgoing number the administrator wants. Basically what that means is that most government offices don't want you to know who is calling and they don't want you to be able to call back unless THEY decide you should be able to talk to them.

I got a call from this number [503 235 1259] several times over the last 3 months but I never answer. They never leave a message & strange enough, I got a call from this number again last night, 1:17am, woke me from a dead sleep!!!

This is a number the state of oregon Uses when calls from Salem go out. I have this CID from Department of Revenue and State police.
