- irritatedi called wells fargo and i was told there is a scam going around where you are asked to enter your account number and social security number . when i first called back concerned the call was very broken--probably intentional. the call sounds like recording and not a real person. i never received a call back after the first two missed calls because when i called back i said that if it was wells fargo they should now my information so stop bsing me. . . i then reported to wells fargo
- W.So they call my business multiple times a day looking for someone who works here (asks for her by name). Usually when I answer, it hangs right up. So I decided to call it back and I get a professional recording that says it is Wells Fargo and that my call may be monitored for quality assurance...press one for English, two for Spanish... and I get a woman named Melissa who IMMEDIATELY asks for ACCOUNT NUMBER AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER!
I tell her it smells like a scam, and she replies that they are conducting surveys and need to verify information.
It seems super bogus; I really hope no one gives out their account# and SS#. - calledem replies to Felipe OduardoThis number is the Wells Fargo Overdraft Department.
Recently got a new phone and new number. They were looking for someone else
They said they would remove my number from the call list. - snw replies to Za BohaIt is Wells Fargo
- Athena replies to Za Boha| 1 replyThis number is NOT Wells Fargo!
It's a scam. They are fishing for information so that they can gain access to your accounts.
When you call the number there is a recording they use to make you believe that you have called wells fargo. I repeat it is not the bank!!
The person who comes on the line will ask you to give them your account number or your (entire) social security number "so that they can confirm your idenity".
In reality if you provide them with any of this information you will be helping them gain access to your account. - Athena replies to AthenaBtw... I work for Wells Fargo.
I called ans verified that this number did not belong to the company.
If suggest that if you get a call from someone claiming that they are from Wells Fargo ir any other bank and they are asking for you to verify information that you do one of two things:
1). Tell the person on the other end of the phone that you will go into a branch and verify the information in person.
OR
2). Call the 800 number on the back of your ATM or debit card and verify the information with the banker over the phone. At least this way you know you are speaking with someone who works for your bank. - melKeep calling me, its Sunday and they call every half hour, enough already, I just let it ring, if its important they will leave a message.

- Julie Faith replies to Camille LThis # is from Mci Metro Ats Inc. SUPPOEDLY, a Wells Fargo Collection contractor, although they claim no connection to them. TI am posting this on all other sites dealing w/ Wells Fargo complaints & clear, clear, wrongs to their clients. I have heard several complainants suggesting class action or whatever appropriate suits.
I too have been cursed, outright called a liar, CONSTANTLY interruped-(never aloud to speak),& after completley working all things out with my bank, was still called a liar & white trash All over a SSI check mistake & 285$.
The & in many common thread I am seeing that this is extremely intrusive,& in many cases, defaming & slanderous.
I more of these posts than I can count, i have heard serious mention of grounds for a lawsuit. If you agree, plese post back, I will open an email site only for this, & as a group, see if we have legal grounds.
Thank you in advance. he scary thing is they know ALL of your personal information! - Bruce the Fact CheckerBeen getting these calls multiple times a day for a week from 503-403-2695. Thought at first it was one ex harassing another ex. Did a reverse phone look-up and found it to be a landline from Beaverton, Portland, Greater Portland metro area, OR. Googled this number and found this web page and all the conflicting information about Wells Fargo.
Not wanting to call the 503 number in case it was a scam or ID theft ring, I called Wells Fargo customer service and explained the situation. That person transferred me to the Wells Fargo Overdraft dept. That person CONFIRMED that the 503-403-269- numbers were, in fact, Wells Fargo phone numbers. I gave that person my number and she asked me about a name connected with their accounts. I verified that no such name was connected with me or my phone number and that I do not have and never had a Wells Fargo account. The representative then told me that my number would be removed from their records, and that was that.
So calling Wells Fargo customer service at 1-800-869-3557 and explaining the situation solved the problem.- Caller: Wells Fargo
- AnonymousNOT WELLS FARGO. These people are fishing for information to gain access to your accts. That's why they are asking for your acct numbers and full social security numbers. If it were actually wells Fargo calling you they would actually leave a message.
