WHY CAN'T THE FEDS SHUT THESE PEOPLE DOWN?

What good is the DoNotCall list?

I have asked them several times to stop calling me.  The call from 5127578111.

I answered the call from this number this evening, and spent about 20 minutes on the phone with the caller.  He was courteous, polite, and very professional.   He stated several times that completing the interview was optional, and that I only had to answer questions I was comfortable with.

I honestly don't mind doing market research because I know how much it helps businesses and others who use the data.  The one thing I realized tonight is that I don't watch much TV, or read newspapers that much anymore, but I do use the internet and travel far more than I would have thought.  It is sometimes good to reflect on where you shop, what you buy, and where you go.  I don't pay that much attention to it sometimes, so it was interesting for me in that respect.

They may be legit, but they still are a nuisance. And I don't think they can call until 10 p.m., whether or not they try not to, as the company rep said. Could we see a legal citation for that, Mr. Rep? I suspect that most of the posters here would prefer to see an "opt-in" system, rather than an "opt-out" system, but until our legislators divest themselves of companies that operate call centers, that won't happen.

I received a call after 7pm from this number. They hung up after I climbed a flight of stairs and went to great efforts to answer. I am on the do not call list and do not want to be disturbed by surveys. I appreciate that your call centers are manned with young people but they should have been trained in phone ettiquitte. To just hand up on someone you called is rude. I have tried to call back many times to find out who it was and what they wanted. I do not have time for this type of calling.

FYI got a call from this jerk about 6 times in 3 days. Did the usual, told him not to call, didn't want to participate, put us on the DNC list. The last phone call he made, I told him I would report him to the FCC. He laughed at me and said the rules did not apply to him and that I wouldn't do such a thing. Well I hope he is monitoring this site. I told him he just barked up the wrong tree!!

I want to be on that civil jury.  Anyone who blames a phone call for someone being injured is ignorant of the care that loved one needed to begin with.  For example, had you properly cared for this person they would not have been left alone to fall or within reach of a phone that disturbs them.  And I would fault you for not taking care of her, not them.  Then you could pay her bills.

Calls repeatedly and hangs up when phone is answered. And even if they didn't hang up, I don't have 30 minutes of my life to waste with their unsolicited business.

I unfortunately answered this call without checking caller ID..The "Brief" survey took 30 minutes.  Although I did understand the reason behind most of the questions, I fail to see the usefulness of getting  me to "identify what block" on my street I lived on.  Was not the street & the city enough for the purposes of demographics?  The survey person was polite & I do understand the painful pay structure these people are under which is the only reason I completed the horrendously invasive, lengthy torture.  Narrow the length of the survey down & you might actually get some useful data...not the I don't care, just make it stop, nonsense responses these generally dwindle to after 15 minutes.

Now I received a call and answered some questions on behalf of Focus On The Family. How is it that everyone else is answering questions about something different? I was going to finish the interview, but I ran into interference on the phone. Even when it cleared, I hung up. This guy called right back but I did not answer. Call block!

For the record, according to the Canadian Do-Not-Call-List:

"Calls from organizations conducting market research, surveys, or public opinion polls are also exempt from the National Do Not Call List Rules and are not required to keep an internal do not call list. These types of calls are not telemarketing calls because the caller is not asking you to purchase, lease or rent products or services."

well i just added them to my call block list, they never talk to me when the phones handed to me. i had my fiancee give them my cell # so i could try to put an end to it but they refused to call it. i work long graveyard shift hours and i dont appreciate calls being made to my house in succession between 7am-3pm cause thats when i sleep and it gets really annoying when she tells them im asleep "we'll call back around 3" then i get a call later. i use to work in customer service and our database allowed us to list the time we called and put a note beside it saying responses if it was busy and i worked for a really small place. if we could afford that a "major" survey service should be able to too.
