Report a phone call from 514-288-0420 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- HS replies to RWThank you for the information. I was out when the call came in but may actually answer the phone when this number comes up again. My daugter is a student at Concordia and she use to work for a company like this in Montreal. She use to get so frustrated when people hung up on her as she wasn't trying to sell anything. She would make a terrible sales person but she happy doing the surverys (when someone answered!)
- gigi replies to RW[***]...I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST...you are a pariah...surveys have nothing to do with bettering society...you are a nuisance...you have no respect for people or their privacy.
I am going to find out where you live and start banging on YOUR front door at 9 am on sunday...I was sleeping when you idiots called, so I am going to report you for calling someone on the list and you will be fined $10,000. - redI agree with gigi ...they called me this morning(Sunday) and yesterday..it just started...at least I know who it is now...and I'm also on the DO NOT CALL LIST....

- ESJust stop calling, I didn't ask you to be part of this. It's your responsability to take the steps to DON'T CALL ME AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Call type: Telemarketer
- GN| 2 repliesJust thought I'd drop a few comments, as I work for the company myself:
The DO NOT CALL LIST, while handy, does not apply to MARKETING RESEARCH, which is what Harris-Decima/Opinion Search does. It involves surveys, and obtaining people's opinions. Not once, ever, in any survey/poll conducted by Harris-Decima, is a product/service offered or a solicitation of any sort attempted. What the DNC list DOES apply to is TELEMARKETING: getting phone calls about window replacement, for example.
The reason for why some of you do not hear anything the first (and perhaps second) time you say 'Hello' is because, unfortunately (for both you and I), calls at Opinion Search are done through a central computer system. Once the system sees that someone has picked up on a call, THEN it transfers the call to me. That means I don't actually hear the first 1-3 seconds of a call.
To people making threats about phoning the authorities: Knock yourself out, it won't do a thing. The company (like posters above me have said) is entirely legitimate. My personal apologies if you get a phone call late, but that is a product of the fact that we call across timezones in North America. It happens.
If you are contacted by Opinion Search (or any other MARKETING RESEARCH firm) and do not want to receive any more calls, simply say the following words: "(Please) Do not call me again". It's actually that simple, and you will not be called back again. Saying you're busy will just get you another call (it's standard procedure).
As to the claims of some commenters that the company "intrudes on another person's phone number", please stop talking out your @$$. Since when do you hand out invitations or give permission for someone to phone you? You will be called. Many of times in your life. By many companies or individuals. Remember the words "Do not call me again". Breathe deeply, say them calmly to the poor sucker who had the bad luck of having you on the other line, and you will not be called again.- Caller: Opinion Search

- MVSUnidentifiable caller from 5142880420 calls me every single day, twice a day, not leaving a message. I tried to call back for identification, but had some informaiton about "research" or "survey". This is a repeated request on the same number.

- BH replies to JDMaybe read dude's posts a little more in depth instead of being an angry mouth breather.
He posted a link to the do-not-call list tool. You can use that to put your number on their do-not-call list. - RD replies to RWThe toll-free phone number to call to get Opinion Search is 1-866-288-0199 not the 800 area code given before.
- Cla replies to RWSure! But I believe I'm doing them a favor by spending my precious time answering they survey. To be fair I should be compensated for this. Now THAT would be the correct way to do this!
Thanks - bushwahHeh, about getting compensated -- the thing you might want to know is that if you do respond to a telephone survey like the ones Decima does, you may have the opportunity to get on their lists and be invited to a focus group. I did a couple several years ago, about relatively interesting subjects. Did another one last year, again about an interesting subject and one that I consider important and did want to voice my opinion on. The going rate for a 60 or 90 minute commitment is $125 plus a snack. So don't be too hasty about hanging up! ;)
Does anybody who posts on these sites ever read anything that has already been posted?
Opinion survey / market research companies are NOT governed by the do-not-call list. Period.
The first page here contains a very clear explanation of what this company is and does, and how to stop receiving calls. It really is a legitimate public opinion research group, and the people working for it really are reasonable people, not boiler room fraud artists. The survey may be for a private company, or for your municipal government; either way, it's to get your opinion about something of concern to their client. You may want to make your opinion known. This is a way of doing it.
While I'm not interested in providing my opinions about dish soap or cat food, I do actually like to be heard on social and political issues.
If only they would never call at bad times, and would speak to our answering machines and give US the option of answering or calling back. It's the hangups on the answering machine I hate, because I don't answer without knowing who's calling.- Call type: Survey
- LRMJust received a call from this number. Unknown name on caller id. If this company is so legitimate then why not show the name of the company. To the individual who seems to defend this company, I chose to have a phone and register with the "DO NOT CALL" registry so I don't receive these types of calls. What part of "DO NOT CALL" does this company not understand. I could give a rats*** if this is a research company. To me, anyone who calls that I have not personally given my phone number to has no right to call me. My number is also unlisted and unpublished so how they get my number is unethical. I also never give my "real" home phone number to just anyone; so still not sure how this company got my phone number. I did not answer when this call came in, and whoever it was didn't bother to leave a message. Fortunately, I pay to have call rejection so I have placed this number on my list of phone numbers that will no longer be able to call me ever again.
I highly recommend people pay the extra few dollars and get call rejection from the phone company. I currently have 21 numbers in my list of rejected phone numbers. Some of these would call at 1:00-2:00 a.m. in the morning. Thank god Qwest increased the number allowed...it use to be only 15.- Caller: Unknown
- Scared him?The fellow claimed to be from "your bank" with heavy east indian accent. Told him to wait, while I trace where he is calling from. He quickly hung up.
- tonythat is stupid call... they call every night. It makes me crazy.
- Sam replies to RWIt is naive to believe that the government or business really wants my opinion. The real motive is to seek out [***] in my armor and circumvent resistance. So that, zombie like, I will buy buy buy or accept the inevitability of corporations running the world at the expense of the little people and the environment. I do not give what amounts to a consultation to business or the government without a consulting fee.
- BobI can't get these people to stop calling.
- nothappy replies to RWWhy are they calling me at 10 PM????????????
- pee replies to RWyou want my opinion ....pay me for it
- Mouse replies to RWThere is no need to be calling people on Sundays no matter who you are.
