People, do not push buttons if you answer that 555 number, it could be someone from Siberia or worse getting you to open your phone lines to disaster. Don't let them outsmart you....

I get these calls a couple times a day but don't answer them.  Maybe they will get the hint.  They are dumb if they think I will answer with a number with all fives.

I've been getting daily dropped calls from them for about the last two weeks.  They all go straight to voice mail because I'm not gonna pick up for an obviously bogus number with "Unknown Name" as the caller ID name.  The call drops after about five seconds of my voice mail announcement.  Think I'll switch 'em over to my 2nd VM announcement that I reserve for these kinds of calls:  "Hello?  Hello?" a couple seconds pause, then an air raid siren.  Useful note:  Many robo-calls detect answering machines by listening for a voice that goes 5-6 seconds without a pause, because most humans answer the phone with the equivalent of "Hello?" and then wait for the other party to respond.  So you can spoof them with a human-like answering machine message.

Received as many as 6 calls per day from 555-555-5555 and from "Caller-ID Withheld".  Even though, I had both blocked, they would still register on my caller-id as having called.
After over a week, I unblocked them (allowing 555-555-5555 and Caller-ID Withheld calls).  Within an hour, a call came thru.  I answered, someone with a foreign accent asked for a person by name (not me).  I said they had the wrong number.  They hung up.
All the 555-555-5555 and Caller-ID Withheld calls immediately stopped.

I just got a call from this number. I let the answering machine get it. All they said was "Hello?...Hello?..." then hung up.

I've gotten a few calls from this # too...most recently was 11/5/09 around 4:20pm...generally I wouldn't answer the call, because the # alone looked like something you'd see on the side of a truck on a TV show. So, against my better judgement, I answered...there was a pause, then an inaudible recording, then a few seconds later some idiot came on the line and said "hi Homer"...I say "who"? The moron repeats, "is Homer there"? I said "you got the wrong # jack" and the doosh hung up. I realize that we all have to eat, but there is a special place at the bottom of a land fill I'd like to burry these telemarketer/collection agencies!

I received my 1st call from 1-555-555-5555 yesterday at 10:16am, didn't answer cause that's a really strange lookin number.  They didn't leave a message so I forgot about it.  Then they just called me today at 8:52am, still no message left, but I tried calling back.  I got a message that my call could not be completed as dialed.

I recently received one of these calls.  The caller asked if he could speak to _______[name omitted].  I told him that he would have to tell me what the call was about before I would tell him anything.  He told me that he had an important business matter for _______.  I again told him that he would have to tell me _exactly_ what the call was about before I would tell him anything.  He said, "I already told you!  This is confidential information only for _______."  I told him that I already knew that, but I was telling him the conditions under which I might give him information.  He then said, "I don't speak under conditions!  You can hang up now."  So, I said, "OK, bye," and hung up.  Afterwards, I started wondering why he said "you can hang up now" instead of just hanging up on me.  Maybe his company tracks whether he hangs up or the other person hangs up - and maybe it's not good for him if he hangs up on people too often because it means he isn't trying hard enough.  If I didn't hang up, would he have stayed on the line?  The next time this happens, I'm going to try to get the telemarketer to hang up on me.  I have a few ideas for fun things to try (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jerky_Boys)
