This is a standard number used by the Missouri State Government. They will leave another number to return that call. My call from this number was from a friendly lady at the MO Secretary of State's Office, offering to help me get a State ID Card. It is nothing to fear, the State wants to talk to you about something.

Received a call from Missouri State: 573-522-0000 on October 12, 2017 at 4:55 pm. I'm tending to agree with some posters here, it's NOT LEGITIMATE. If the state wants to collect, they will contact you via mail and not by phone asking personal questions. This is a PHISHING phone call and not legitimate. It's a tax fraud number. Since I do not have an answering machine, they have not called back. If they were legit, they would have called again, emailed, sent me a letter, but NOTHING. It's a SCAM, folks. DO NOT FALL FOR IT AND REPORT IT TO THE DO NOT CALL LIST.

Also, I checked the white pages and this is what I found under the white pages listing. Doesn't make sense:

I figured this out. The person who owns this number is scamming people. This is a SCAM call. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION AT ALL, in fact, DO NOT ANSWER THE CALL, PERIOD. The positive posts here are FROM THE CALLERS THEMSELVES POSING AS MISSOURI STATE! If it really was the Missouri Department of Revenue, a legitimate address, information everything would be listed online and they would NEVER CALL YOU AND ASK FOR PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. You would receive a letter in the mail asking YOU TO CALL THEM. DO NOT BELIEVE THE CALLS, REPORT THEM TO THEM TO THE FBI AND TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL. I've received letters from the IRS and they ask you to call them, they NEVER CALL YOU, YOU CALL THEM. This is a scam operation with a scam number. I've had a ton of scam calls come through and asking for a social and calls in the middle of the night saying they are police are bogus. The police are not part of the department of revenue. They have their own department. It's not all under one jurisdiction. This is pure intimidation to steal your identity. FAKE, FAKE, FAKE. Don't fall for it.

    Here's the REAL DEAL:

So, if you have any concerns with taxes, police reports or any other legal issues with the state, check here, do not believe the phone call. It's a scam artist on the other end trying to get your personal information from you to steal every single penny from you, plus your identity.

NOT MISSOURI STATE: 573-222-0000 who's phone number is registered in the white pages to a Po Mouk who lives in Jefferson City, Missouri and his/her phone number is a landline serviced by EMBARQ MISSOURI, INC. - MO DBA CENTURYLINK. The National Phone Number Registry

Sorry to post again. This will be the last one. I emailed the Missouri Department of Revenue and inquired about the phone number. I will let you know what I find out. I perused the website and I could not find the number anywhere. It could be legit, but it could be fake. We'll soon find out. Thanks for bearing with me.
