Leonard Phillips has been calling my home over and over. Something about settling out of court for some suite that has been filed against a John Davis.  I have called him back each time and we have determined that the John Davis he is looking for is NOT my dead husband.  He has promised to remove my number from his "list", but he continues to call.  My husband died three years ago and I have told him that and even offered to send him the Death Certificate.   Mr Phillips has apologized each time, but he doesn't stop the calling.  Is he just incompetent?  I'm very weary of these consistent calls.  Can you say "Harrassment"?  Please DO NOT call me again.

Just wanted to let anyone know that this company is a fraud and there is something you can do!  I contacted a legal firm that specializes in punishing companies for illegal debt collection actions.  I recommend all of you being harassed do the same.  The company I contacted is below (no, I do not work for this company)

keep getting calls from an INVESTIGATOR. a debt collector trying to act big and bad. come to find out this company isnt even real. its a former company called Hollander, chase and associates. these peopel are being investigated themselves and are rated f. do not talk to them

Someone who called himself......Mr West......contacted my ex-wife and identified himself as law enforcement. He said I had listed her as an "alibi"  He further made it sound like I had a warrant
out for my arrest............All of which was not true

They are the same company who called me using 404-850-8596. I also had a screaming conversation with them. I have a detailed story about them if you look under the phone number I mentioned. It just happened today.

Guys...I consulted my Prepaid Legal attorney and they will order a Cease and Desist against this Cohen Swartz and Associates. I just received a supposedly "verification of debt" from Cohen today...which is great! Because I found out that they have the wrong person, wrong address although they claim that the debt is under my SS#. Now, I can actually use this letter against them. This is a Payday Loan scam...beware. I've never been to one in my life that's why I knew it was a scam activity from the very beginning. But for those who have gone to Payday Loans...you still have to be smart. My attorney said that the letter Cohen will send you should obtain your signature, the same signature you had when you first obtained the loan. It applies to any other debt collector who is trying to verify a debt you made.

Next time they call you..be stern and say that you know they are scammers and you will show the document to your attorney. They will be scared to death!

Okay, First of all "Chris" funny how that is your name that is being used on this forum and there is actually a Chris White that is working for Cohen, Schwartz & Associates who also goes by the name of Investigator Shad who is also Mr. Frazier who is also Investigator Jackson (do you see a pattern forming here?) They have indeed changed their name 3 or more times. They actually "buy" debt from NCO and Portfolio Recovery and you ask how I know this? Because I just won a case and my attorney traced the information back. They also use a "hub" which they call and it looks as if the number is a local number and it is actually just forwarded through the hub. They actually started out in Buffalo New York and have moved to the southern region. They are a debt recovery "agency" THEY ARE NOT LEGAL ATTORNEYS. They do not have a bond # they have never taken a bar exam. There are no investigators unless they come to your door at your home or place of business. They can not COME OUT AND SERVE YOU A SUMMONS. You can not be served a summons via the phone, internet or mail. It must be served by a city/county warrant officer. They can not threaten you, they can not harrass you. THEY CAN GET your information via a credit report and they can run an intellius report on you and therefore they can have access to people that you are associated with. They can not "FORCE" you to make payment. They can not put you in jail. They can not threaten to show up at your home. They can not call you on Saturdays or after normal business hours as stated in the Fair Debt Collections Standard Act. They can not discuss your debt with anyone else. Once they are told that you can not receive personal calls at work or that you don't work there they can not continue to harrass you or your employer. Please take the time to look up the fair debt collections standard act and the statute of limitations in your state (this will put many minds at ease). DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION THEY ARE PHISHING.

i also recieved  alot of calls from this number saying i forged a check in 2007, do not and have never had checking accoint which i told them, they said it was an on-line loan i owe for, never did either, threatened to have me put in jail if i didn,t pay at least 110.00 in 2 days and i have to pay by credit card, and if i didnt have one i would have to purchase one, wtf  this is insane, but it was an atlanta,ga number with the same name coen,swartz associates 1-404-850-8796

They called my mothers house and left a message Saying I wrote Bad checks. And reffered to me as a totally different person,Never ever had an alias of that name! But got my moms name right.Saying there calling for both of us. So Cohen schwartz and associates Be Advised* Athorities will be contacted as of tommorrow.....your scare tactics dont scare me,First off get the name right.you cant open a bank account without two  forms of id idiots nice try ..eff'n [***] people Go work and get a job and stop scamming the innocent;)

I continuously get calls from these people about someone else debt.  I have told them several times that the person they are trying to reach does not live here; I do not know them; please stop calling my home leaving threating message.  It has been to no avail.  This really needs to be stop.  Whether they are legit or not; if you are not the person that they are trying to reach; then, they should have the common couresty to stop the harrassing telephone calls.

I want this to stop immediately.

Oh, bye the way, I called them back to ask if they would stop calling.  The lady stated she would take my name off the list; since I'm not the person they are trying to reach.  Immediately after I hung up; I received another call from telephone number 404-850-8796 which is the same place.

Received numerous calls from 770-239-6720 but today they actually left a voicemail.  Someone name Donald Stewart saying that it was imperative that I return his call today before 5pm!  Now why would I want to call someone back that didnt even leave their phone number on the voicemail message they left me?  The only reason I have the number is caller ID.  I do not believe that I will be calling this individual back especially since he did not leave a number or anything referencing as to why I am suppose to call back, except that I should call before 5pm.

Next time, ask them is this conversation being recorded?  Then tell them to give you a minute while you turn on your recorder then start by asking them for their company name and EIN number then ask them for your file information, who the original creidtor is, then tell them that you will only deal with the original creditor.  By this point you will get yell'd at or worse then just simply wish them a good day and hang up.  This should stop the calls a bit especially since the individual on the other end knows that you have your recorder on.  Then when all is said and done call the original creditor and tell them that you are stressed out about the calls the third party vendor they PAYED/HIRED is making to your home/work while embarrassing you by calling your neighbors giving out privite information about your debt.  This should stop all calls.
