As an accountant at a large CPA firm, I can tell you that the IRS will NEVER EVER EVER call anyone. They ONLY correspond by letter, and most of the time it is certified.

Same as others. Said they were the Internal Revenue Service. Gave a case number and said I had to call before the end of business today.

Got a call today as usual they did not leave a message most likely Scammers ..never give them personal info You ask them all the questions ..who are they who they work phone and the name of their company... Etc but never give them personal info.

My return call number was in South Carolina, not a 800 #. After looking up it's a scam

I am surprised to see the same issues being posted as far back as 2012. A natural instinct is to panic when you hear IRS but usually when things seem a little off, they are. I google or reverse phone # look up for all suspicious calls. I just feel sorry for those who actually believe these callers are affiliated with the "real" IRS. There are way too many tools available to protect us from fraud. It crossed my mind that the ones writing in saying that these numbers are legit could very well be part of the scam as well. Very pathetic route some chose...... such a shame

Called and said they were the IRS and to call 87-7968-3413 by end of business day and reference case number 3630950442

I just received this call saying to call them back by the end of the business day as well. Do not call back.

Got the same call and message !!!

Gave 877 # to call returned it ..how could they have all my info ..I'll call IRS tomorrow. SMH

The it's does not call you avoid this number

I got a call from this number but i was at work so i did not answer they left a message saying to call (877)968-3413y 8:00pm 1/5/2016 so i called the number and was on hold for over an hour so i decided to look on the internet while on hold and saw a post about a scam from the same number so i hung up

apocryphal Internal revenue service

Received a call from, 716 206 3218. They claim to be from the IRS,  request  that I return their call by the end of day.  This is a scam. Please do not give them any information about yourself. Call the IRS direct  if you have any doubt.

They called me at 8:15am Saturday morning on Memorial Day weekend advising me to call back by the end of day. I called the real IRS number from their website and they are closed on the weekends. They gave a 877-931 number. Guess the scammers got a new number.

Got same message.. I never answer calls from numbers I do not recognize!  Scammers all over the place these days.  I always use 800 notes to check the unknown caller's phone numbers!

how to get them to stop?

I got a call from area code 716 also many from unknown caller they said I was a primary suspect in a case. If that was the case they wouldn't use an automated  message
