Got 3 calls from them today , told them  no  one by the name they were asking for lived here ,  after the 3rd time  I blocked the # with call blocking.  Will call a lawyer and send a cease and desist letter  if it continues from other numbers  and charge them the $1000 per call that the law provides. Will also foreward the number to the telephone companies call harrassment center .

They called and left no message

this portfolio is trying to collect a phone bill from me from 2000...which I paid back in 2000

I have told these people to stop calling. That the person does not work here.  This is a government office.

Portfolio Recovery calls repeatedly (30 times since the first of January 2012), even on Sundays, before 8:00 am and after 10:00 pm. A legitimate collection agency is aware of hours that are acceptable for placing calls.

They use: 757-961-3544, 914-513-0163, 412-282-1421, 407-347-4021, 404-921-2521, 518-207-3602, 702-410-7076, 518-207-3618, 847-994-2557  for a total of 9 different numbers and I have only reviewed this month's calls. The multiple area codes have me wondering how legit they truely are.

I do not answer that calls. Originally the message they left was that they were a debt collection agency.

Just received 2nd call from 757-961-3544.
I answered the first time, but not this time.  The first time, they asked for my son and said they were working with him on a business situation.  They wanted me to give them his number.  I said, no, but you can give me your number and I will have him call you back. She asked again for his number, I said I wouldn't give out his number, so she gave me a number for him to call. Of course, I told my son not to call the number back and not to answer calls from them. I googled the company and they have worked very hard to make their website look legit - even to the point of explaining why they "are not a scam". Whatever!!!!!  Let me just say that my son has NEVER borrowed any money, owned a home, had any kind of bills in his name, etc.,  . . . he cannot possibly have old debt!!!!   They CANNOT be a legitimate company!

this # called me today 1st time, on a cell phone not registered to my real name, which is the one they were calling for...a trip that a Corp has cross referenced enough info to attach my real name to anonymous pre paid cell...I guess I have used this number for long enough.

Yeah Right!!!  They buy all these "Zombie Debts" and try to bring them back from the dead.  Only a complete moron would pay on a debt that was 10 yrs old.  Portfolio Recovery is a JOKE!!  A reputable company would not being buying 10 yr old debts and trying to collect on them.  I have an entire list of numbers that they use on my reject list and that is where these numbers will keep going.

They get your phone numbers by skip tracing.  That is why it is so hit and miss.  I used to work for a company that encouraged skip tracing "debts".  We were told to call neighbors, friends, people with the same last name that lived in the same area(in hopes that they would be related), places of employment, etc. all in an effort to get a viable phone number.  I refused to do that and quit that job shortly after that training.  Portfolio Recovery may be a "legit" name for a company but they are by no means doing "legit" business.

i keep getting this number popping up on my phone.  the area code is out of Virginia, but i don't know anyone out of that area code, regardless if it is a cell.
