Called me today.  Not recognizing the number, I let it go to voicemail.  No message left.  Best advice: if you don't know the number, DO NOT ANSWER!

they call me asking for a Joanie and i keep telling them that this phone is a brand new number and whoever that is was a previous owner. they ask me to tell them where she is and i say i am sorry i do not know who she is. and then they again ask me where they can find her and i tell them i do not know her. next time i am asking for a supervisor.

you are correct they tried to get me to verifiy the last for digits of my social i refused of course i told them to send it all in writing

It's Portfolio Recovery calling...a very nasty collection agency. They called me today...about a bill from 1998! Evil, vile and scumbag creatures. Simply tell them that the phone you are on is a company phone and that no personal calls are allowed. They'll tell you that the call is being recorded, so, turn the tables on them: tell them that YOU are recording the call, have proof that you have told them not to call your company phone and not to call again. By the way, be very careful in what you say: if you admit that the bill is yours or make any statement concerning the bill, the clock could reset and you could be liable for the long, LONG ago bill. Remember...these are vile, contemptible and nasty vermin. Treat them as something you'd scrape off the bottom of your shoe after a stroll through a dog-park.

After all these comments and years they are still calling and hanging up if no one answers. They seem 2 stop 4 awhile and then start up again.
I am starting to realize that they probably got my number when filling out payroll advance forms. If you read the small print when filling out one of these forms on internet. You sign a form saying you allow them to share your information.
It is disgusting they prey on people who are already short on cash.

A woman that was not even American called my cell phone from Arrow Portfolio collections. The worst part its for bs charges that I never even made. The phone showed Virginia area code but the company is in IL. They want me to send them some letter to remove my name! If you write them anything.it can reopen the debt like it was yesterday. I have been handicaped for years and now have terminal cancer. I am sure I did not buy a million dollars worth of crap from Lowes nor has my income ever been high enough to get that kind of credit line. But the dumb [***] keep sending bills, I let them waste the money to be stupid. By the way this company has a million in fines from the government they I am sure are not paying. I did text them a very.evil message and it went. So everyone needs to bomb their number with text crap.

its is a collections agency when they do say something.
also not legal for them to call. statue limitations debts an they also MAIL to your last known address.
they scam artists.

i labeled them in my cell as "spam" under their number an anytime my caller ID comes up it says SPAM so i dont bother. i dont even hit the FU button, i just silence it an let it ring through.

tried to track how many times they called in one month and was like 70. also they call way too early an late after the no-call law times. nothing before 8(i think) am an after 9pm.

Call came on my cell but I didn't answer. No message was left.

I just recieved a call from this number a few times today. I answered the first one there was no one there, after that I let to go to my voice mail but they didn't leave a message

They called my underage daughter's phone line and when she answered the phone she just heard creepy breathing on the other end. They have called a total of 3 times this week.

RECEived a call this morning from 757-961-3544 from this number at 7.57 am said hello and they wouldnt say anything three times.

I got a call from someone from this number telling me that I owed 2200 on a Capital One account "that went delinquent in April 2004, and was a charge-off".. I asked him to send me verification of the debt. He ignored me and said that they were charging 7% interest on the balance owed, but if I made a payment in full of 1100, they would close the acct. I again asked him to send me verification of the original balance/charges they're saying I owe. He said that they purchased this from Capital One, and that he didn't have that information. I live in California, statute of limitations on credit card debt (to SUE) is 4 years. So they can call and harass me all they want, however, they can still report to the credit bureau, BUT, even that cal only remain on your report for 7 years from the date of delinquency, or if you acknowledge the debt in any way, including making a payment (or arrangements).  I told him the SOL was up, he needed to stop calling, and again asked him to send me verification of the debt, and his response was, "ok, next time we contact you, we'll be asking for the full balance".  Kiss my @ss. I'm contacting the credit reporting agencies, and disputing this. These people are called "scavenger collectors," they buy extremely old debt from other agencies, and try and get anything they can. They purchase these for 3-7 cents on the dollar. Be informed.

They cannot collect on an old debt. If it is longer than 7 years. They know this, but are counting on
you not having knowledge of the fair debt law. Just tell them to send you what they say you owe
to your address on written paper and that they have the right to collect the debt and that the
statue of limitations have not run out and they will leave you alone. A lawsuit was filed against them
by the attorney general. but it doesn't matter they keep going with it. Don't agree to oweing it or they clock
can start all over again on the debt. There are so many of these type agencies, but what they make is
more than the lawsuits

I received a call from 1-757-961-3544 about twice a month and no one ever greets me. What's up with these people. Perhaps trying to beat a dead horse. Once or twice someone will state that they are from portfolio recovery and they are trying to collect payments for debts incurred over 20 years ago. (Really)...

just call and call don't leave message I don't answer numbers I dont know these people be bill collectors or what ever need to stop calling ppl and they need to not be able to get private numbers that is wrong

they call over and over every day all day long earlier morning late night crazy I dont even know who or why just that my number is private unlisted because I am disabled person and if I don't know you I don't answer unknown numbers and if you don't leave me voice I do not call back. so who ever it is collection or person with nothing better to do they need to stop calling and be a grown up . Thank you for pages like this that let us maybe stop places or people like this . They need to stop calling

These people call my work and cell phones.   Told them to stop calling my work & they have.  Before paying old debts check to see if there is a statute of limitations in your state.

Receive calls from this company every month or so. I spoke with them last year and discovered that they were calling about an account that is 13 years old. I have repeatedly asked them to stop calling and to place my number on a DNC List. They persist. Now everytime they call - I DO NOT answer and immediately report them to the FTC.
