"Alfred Dawson" text me saying there has been a mistake with the bed he wanted to buy from me on craigs list. After I said what is the mistake, he sends me a message saying "My secretary just mailed the check this morning to you and will deliver in 2 days but there was a mistake on the check instead of the amount of the item, she mailed out a check for $2000. Please do me a favor to deposit the payment for 24 hours, when it clears, you send the remainder via western union to my account then my mover can pick up the item. Can i trust you to handle this for me?"

i just resive a messege and thanks for letting me know she its a scam I was about to send my address but now to hell with that

I got the same exact messages! It's a scam! I went to my bank and they told me all about it. Be careful. I came way too close to falling for it. What an awful person.

His/her email changed halfway through. The scam is that you deposit the check into your account, butnit doesn't come up until about a week later as fraudulent. Then, it's deducted from your account, but you've already sent him/her your money.

I got the same kind of email, at first I thought it was a normal person and did give my address, bad right? didn't think about it until my hubby told me its a scam then I looked up here for it..

4th Email said this: I have since received the confirmation from my secretary that the payment has been issued out and was mailed by the Fedex.It will be delivered to your address two business day from now according to the courier,but to my greatest surprise the draft was issued out to the sum of $2710 instead of the actual cost of my purchase.She claimed that I requested for that amount to be issued out to you but am very sure I only made a request for just the cost of my purchase.This is a terrible mistake and i was just informed about this so please once  the check is delivered please take it to your Bank and have it cashed.

You will then deduct the cost of my purchase plus an extra $100 to offset the cost of your run around expenses and Money Gram charges.The rest of the fund should be sent to my mover via Money Gram you can have that done at Wal-mart, K-mart the same day you receive the payment so that my mover can make the trip over for the pick at once.**I will need your immediate response via email assuring me that i can trust you to handle this with utmost care and  have the remaining fund returned appropriately as requested and will hope that your intentions remains noble though out the duration of this transaction.

DO NOT BELIEVE THIS SCAM ARTIST. UGH.

Received same email one day after listing a computer on Creigslist. Looks we are one step away from Anarchy.

This person Mary Smith just stole 3000 dollars from me, and being the Humble person I am now she got the best of my good nature the same exact scam and it worked on me so the only thing i can do is warn everyone else of this person, my bank will not refund the money so i ended up paying out this entire amount of money being as though the bank cleared the check but they said it was my fault for cashing the check, well I learned the hard way and reported it to the authorities hopefully something comes out of it.

well I am a victim of this situation, and Im pretty pissed off, my good nature got taken advantage of and when I turned it over to the police they basically told me its gone, a done deal, and my bank told me that it was my fault, I wish my bank would have warned me about this scam because I am out of 3000 dollars because of this woman, Mary Smith and whatever names she falls under, It is not just her either it is a huge scam , they have fake ID's and all to collect the money from the money gram that it is sent to, I cant understand how the Feds arent on to this or pulling cameras yet the place she had me send the money to is a Anthonybugher Montenegro at address Weslaco Tx 78956  so Im pretty sure this changes up but just for a heads up so that no one else is dealt with this situation. Im left short handed 3000 dollars less and no leads  because the police or the banks basically said to chalk it up as a lesson learned..........which is [***]

Look out for a Rose Linder too.... this is what I received when I questioned it....  keep asking them questions.  The first two emails were typed, spelled, etc, perfectly.  As I started asking more questions all the spelling, punctuation, etc. went out the window.

This james baily emailed me concerning a job he said he was sending me a check though ups andd gave me a tracking number and it says its delivered i cant get it till monday wat should i do

I just got the EXACT same email.  It looks like a classic phishing scam to me.  If you click on the paypal link, it will most likely take you to a phony paypal site, where you will be handing your sign-in information, password and all to the owner of the fake site, who can then get onto the real PayPal and into your account.  BEWARE!

Holy Crap!  I got the same email, VERBATIM yesterday in response to my craigslist ad to sell my '63 plymouth convertible....Wow..that sucks....now I'm bummed!
