this person(s) pulled the same bs with me sending from 3-4 different email addresses for a used couch. I was onto them from the get go, but my credit's so bad my address and name would likely saddle them with some of the phone calls I avoid. After sending the address info I received my $2710 check with the exact same instructions and I decided to pretend to play along. So far I have received four $2710 checks that aren't worth the paper they're printed on. I must give them credit though they used 4 different routing numbers on the fake checks that correspond to banks that all closed in the last 6-12 months, meaning it would take considerably longer for your bank to catch the mistake. I send them concerned emails every so often about why they haven't picked up the couch, giving info on other items they might be interested in, and checking to make sure their secretary didn't steal the check I "mailed" back to them (at their fake address/job). If it's any consolation to those who were actually fooled by these people I've got them spending a small fortune in shipping charges to continue sending me fake checks that I assure them they can trust I will return the amount of money they're owed. Remember if something feels like it's too good to be true, it is.

Holy Crap! My husband just got the Rose Linder email verbatim too! Seemed strange she asked for our paypal account info - I do many purchases through work and never never need anyone else's paypal account info, just our work one.

Just received the same email as everyone else. Being in law enforcement, I would assume this person is in Nigeria, where most of these frauds are originating. As we tell our citizens, never give ANY banking or paypal information to anyone. I will e forwarding this guys IP address to our local FBI office, though it will probably be a waste of time.

Isn't there a way to stop this scammer?!

i received EXACTLY the same wording in response to a boat ad i placed on Craig's List.

I'm so glad I googled this email. I just got a text message response from a car ad I put on gumtree about 5 minutes after I put it up on Australian gumtree but the response was from an American number.
it was from the Rose Linder email.

Recieved a message from this number +1 (319) 462-8513 saying to email rslinder1@gmail.com
and in the email had that exact message written about that they were a marine. lucky i was suspicious about the situation and found this website. there will be no payment paid thanks for the help.

Recently received this exact same email and we believed it to be genuine until another email was sent asking for $1500 to 'clear their funds.' We also received a false paypal confirmation email saying monies had been paid into our account. We are absolutely disgusted with these scammers as ours was a genuine sale,( like everyone), advertised on gumtree and naturally we were quite elated to find a potential buyer.  Of course when emailed was received asking US to pay $1500 alarm bells went off!!!  SHAME on them!

Posted my Add on gumtree received at text with in 3 min asking to email her my asking price and the condition. I knew something strange was going on!

OMG!  I'm so glad I googled this - I just got exactly this same email - and 5 mins after I posted my car on gumtree just like previous posts here!

I'm so wary as I have had really bad experiences recently, losing an Apple iMac on ebay at Xmas, as after funds had cleared they picked it up and them the next day the money was snatched back due to a fraudulent payment, then recently my Paypal account was hacked with transactions being made to two people I'd never heard of!!!   Who can you trust these days.

I just want to sell my little car and not get ripped off.

Same Scam, still going! Damn, I already sent him my addy, but hoping he doesn't change too much from the formula.

Got an email from a Sammy Martins saying that she is hearing impaired and want to buy my furniture that I put in paper.  She WILL NOT give me her number or address!!  I think it is spam!!

Someone named Ralph Laurens left a text message on my phone after I ran an ad about a garage sale and employment postings. He was asking if I still wanted a job. The tele: number 1111 at the beginning. Where is a number like that?
