I got this call just now and pressed 1. Caught me off guard coz I recently just booked a ticket to travel to Asia and reacted without thinking. Don't know what to do now. :( mine said Canadian Tire and I am a valued customer there.

Just got a call from this number "because you are a valued Air Canada customer if you would like to receive a free vacation press 1"  I pressed 1 and the person who I got transferred to asked me if I wanted to hear about the latest Cancun vacation.  Made it sound like I was calling and enquiring about it.  Told them No and they hung up.

I just got a call from this number and it said "Because you are a valued Air Canada customer, you will receive $2400 in travel dollars...".  I hung up right away, attempted to call back and got the message that the number could not be completed as dialed.  SCAM!!

780-851-8989 is being used for the "Air Canada, press 1 for prize" scam.

It bothers me to a point, but I never answer any calls unless I recognize the number anyway.

Just got a call from this number also, but the robo voice said "because you are a valued Rogers customer you have won a free gift, press 1 to accept".

They just phoned my cell too. Did not answer. Thanks for confirming what was susepected.

Same as everyone else except that they said it was for being a telus customer, which I am not, and have not been for over seven years.

Just got a call from this number. Didn't recognize it so didn't answer it. They didn't leave message. Glad I didn't pick up based on what everyone has said here!

I just got a call on my cell phone and glad I missed it  stop these people from calling  rogers   do your part on giving us call blocking free step up to the plate I have a good mind to drop rogers all together

"Because you are a valued TELUS customer you have won a prize, press 1 to claim your prize"...  I pressed (got suckered, because I AM A TELUS customer!) and it was ring no answer...  I am sure they will call me back now...  Putting a call block on this number...

I was given an excellent idea from my manager.  If you want to mess with them do something like this.  Let them do their shpeel then ask them if they have ever heard of (name some random company, make one up).  Try and sell them on the money making abilities and that it could change their life.  That they would be perfect for it as they obviously have people experience.  Tell them to take you off their list at the end.

every that recieve those kind of calls should call the CRTC and complain if you are on the dont call me list

i got one from 780-851-8989, i never answer a call from anyone i dont know or refuses to show their number. its somebody using a dialer even though its illegal to do it to cell phone number blocks. its happens REGARDLESS of the carrier. think of it as some jerk using a computer to dial anything 000-000-0000 to 999-999-9999

And in most of these dialer cases...they input the number they are dialing from so its always a front number that usually doesnt exist.

Definitely a scam.  No legit offer of prize will have you press a number to continue.
