- Rob| 6 repliesThis number is legit, and belongs to the automated Chase Fraud Protection system. Whether or not scammers can use software to have this number appear in your caller ID is a different matter. After I made a transfer from my account, I got a call from this number and an automated message was left on my voicemail with a reference code. When I called this number back (manually), the automated system asked several questions to confirm my identity, and then verified the transfer. The program did not ask for any account information or PIN.
- Ross replies to Rob| 5 repliesYou are a moron, Rob. It is not a Chase number. It is a scam. I spoke with them today.
- David replies to Ross| 1 replyThis IS a Chase number, not a scam. I received the call this morning and called the number on the back of my card instead and the Chase rep connected me to their debit card fraud division. Sure enough, they wanted to verify a charge I made that morning. If you are nervous, call the number on the back of your card, explain what happened and ask to be transferred to their fraud division.
- Steve replies to DavidIt is a phising event as the majority of the people are saying. Ironically, I was in a Chase Bank when this call came through this morning and they confirmed with their Card Fraud Division that it is a scam.
- luvsgolf replies to JohnI just got a call from 800-366-1962. It is a legit call from Chase Bank Fraud Dept. They called wanting me to verify a couple of transactions. I did not call the 800# back, however, I did dial the 800# listed on the back of my credit card and had them confirm that the number was indeed valid. I suggest that if you have doubts, don't share any information until you call your institution using the number provided on the back of your card.
- lkI missed several calls from this number, so I looked it up on this forum and figured it was a scam, but then I got another call. I answered. It asked me two security questions, which I answered correctly, then it wanted to confirm a transaction on my account. The security questions were a city I lived in and the name of a company I had a credit card account with. I was never prompted to enter my card number, account number, or pin. Seemed legit to me, as it was in fact confirming an online transfer I did via chase quick pay.
- Caller: Chase Bank
- Ter replies to Kat NegreteThis is a blatant lie. I literally just talked to Chase. It is NOT them calling you. Don't call back, don't tell them a damned thing. Be careful out there!
- Ter replies to RossYou're right. It is NOT Chase.
- Ter replies to RossYou're right. It is NOT Chase.
- YariCall Chase immediately. If there was Fraud in your account then Chase will be able to tell you if there are any notes in your account. I just talked to a rep because I got a call from the same number and the rep said that it is not a Chase number and there are no notes on my account. It's totally fake. And people here saying that it isn't are probably part of the scam. DO NOT give them any information. It is called Phishing!
- Caller: Chase
- GerIt is a valid call from Chase, you only need to answer their questions, you do not need to provide any personal info. They validated if an online transfer I did was real or not.

- Chet replies to BobThis is a PHISHING SCAM. This is NOT Chase Fraud. I verified with Chase that calls from 800-366-1962 are NOT LEGITIMATE. I received an automated message asking me to confirm that I had indeed made an online transaction (money transfer) from the previous day. The automated message even stated the exact dollar amount of the transaction, then asked me multiple-choice "Security Questions", the correct answers to which were also information that I had provided to the bank once upon a time. UPDATE: Chase called me back and let me know that it turns out calls from 800-366-1962 ARE LEGITIMATE.

- Caller: CHASE?
- JaniceLooks like they are at it again.Got a call today saying they were from Chase Fraud Protection. Asked me to press 1 if I was "me." Did so - then was placed on hold. Hung up after a minute or two. Did not give any other information. Am on hold while reporting it to Chase now. Sounds like FRAUD - be careful!
- Chris***THIS IS NOT A SCAM, this is the Chase online fraud prevention trying to prevent fraud on your bank account, the type of information that they request is based on multiple choice answers. I made a large quick pay transaction from my mobile phone and they were calling to confirm it. When calling Chase to verify this number, make sure that you tell them it is online fraud prevention rather than debit card fraud, I think this is where they get confused. When I finally got someone at chase that knew what they were talking about, they gave me this same number and then conferenced me in with it to complete the request.

- HuuThis number is not from Chase
- CarlThe number is legit. I called this number 1-877-242-7372. Tell them to transfer you to the online fraud dept and they will confirm this number is actually from chase. The first rep didnt know about this number and transfered me a few times and eventually the online fraud dept verified this number.
- JJI just called Chase and they said they have no record of that number. I get the feeling the people who say the number is legit are part of the scam.
I've had my credit card # stolen before. Chase called me immediately with a live person on the phone, who proceeded to ask me if I had used my card for a suspicious online site. There was no need to provide all of my secure information like that machine asked.
Whatever the case, you should NEVER give your important personal information out to an automated machine. If unsure, there is no harm in hanging up, dialing the legit customer service number for Chase, and then getting everything taken care of. Better safe than sorry.- Caller: scam
- Michael replies to RossThe number is not from Chase Bank I received a call this morning and then called our local Chase Bank and they told my wife it is from Master Card
- MichaelAll you need to do is call your local Chase branch they will tell you that it is not them, they told us it was from Master Card
