Report a phone call from 800-366-1962 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Michael replies to TZThe same thing happened to my wife and I, I know for a fact it is a chase number, in our case it was the first check wrote on the account and my wife wrote part in cursive and printed on the other part. I am glad they called it proves that at least something is working for us, by the way the number was 1-800-366-1962, when we called a Chase branch where we live they told us they did not no anything about that number, upon checking further and going into the Main branch they confirmed it was a legitimate number.
- Nervous NellyI so wanted to believe that this was a scam that I had averted because I've been burned by credit card fraud a couple times in the past. However, it is not fraud. It is a Chase number.
Which brings me to the real problem here- the way that Chase is handling fraud. They are having their customers call back random phone numbers about fraud. They should be telling their customers to call back to a trusted phone number from the website or back of the card as every one knows this is now common sense to do.
What pisses me off is that I called the trusted number, & the customer service representative didn't have a clue what I was talking about. This led me to believe that it was a scam. It wasn't until I insisted that she transfer me to the fraud department that I finally got to the bottom of it & they were able to verify that it is a real Chase number (yet for some reason, even she had to call the number & couldn't just look it up in their own internal system...what the !#%$!).
I recommend that you call the trusted Chase number, & when the general customer service guy stares at his computer blankly & tells you that he isn't aware of any fraud, you should then insist that they transfer you to their fraud department. Why this isn't their default method of dealing with fraud is mind boggling. - George TI too was sceptical about this robcall. I called my branch and with digging they were able to confirm that the number is Chase fraud dealing with electronic transfers. I talked to them and resolved all issues. I agree that Chase needs to improve this alert method.

- RonToday I set up a transfer from one back to another for an amount significantly higher than my normal transfer. I received a voicemail from the fraud division advising me of a potential fraud transactation and was advised to call 800-366-1962 and give the respondent a 6 digit reference number. Being a somewhat skeptical person on unsolicited calls about my credit card, debit card or bank acount(s), I called the customer support center at Chase. The person I spoke with asked me some questions and then checked my file and did not notice any fraud allerts. She offered to check with the Fraud Division, and I asked her to transfer me there as I explained what happened and what I found on the internet. The young woman in the Fraud Dept. asked me some security questions that I had set up, and then certified that I was contacted by an automated system and that the 800# was, in fact, the call back number for Chase's fraud verification center. So, to sum up, it is a valid number.

- John FoxJust got a call from that number. The caller ID said "Name Unavailable".
It was most definitely NOT A SCAM. It was, in fact, JP Morgan Chase Fraud Prevention.
The automated system first validated my identity by asking a bunch of question that only I would know the answers to. Then it asked whether a recent transfer out of my checking account for $1,554.15 was legitimate. Indeed it was legitimate - it was my very first transfer to an external account that I had just linked to my Chase Checking account. I was impressed with the system, it worked well.
By the way, they first called my cell, and I ignored the call. Then 4 minutes later, they called my home phone. I figured anybody having both my cell and home phone is probably legitimate, which is why I answered the second call.
My experience was nothing like that of "yolanda" above. I agree that her experience sounds like a scam.
When they called me, they didn't ask me to provide any information whatsoever. They just asked questions like: "Which of the following banks do you also have an account with? Press 1 for xx, Press 2 for yy, etc." and "Which of the following if the first name of someone who lives or lived with you? Press 1 for xx etc." and "Which of the following counties did you previously live in? Press 1 for xx" etc.- Caller: Chase Fraud Prevention
- harshHi
I got his call several times today from this number (I listened once to the automated msg) and my wife called me from home witht the same msg - that's when I started giving attention. When I returned my call, I had no clue (or confirmation) that it is Chase Bank ! So I politely told the person who asked my full name that "Which bank is this ? " - He said it is Chase. I mentioned that I am not comfortable discussing my bank details. He immediately responded " that's fine, you can take your debit card and call the number behind it for confirmation". I said "sure, thank you" and disconnected.
But after reading these msgs, I almost believe that it is not the right approach that a bank will take to notify its customers. (I mean there should be email, msgs)...Hope my thinking is right !

- TravisThis is NOT a scam. If it was a scam, then they have access to my bank account and know my transaction history within the past 48 hours.
I was hesitant, but ended up calling back the number anyway. They do not ask for personal information like SS# or mothers maiden name, but instead asked to verify something that was on my credit (vehicle loan). Anyone with access to my credit history can obtain that info, so I kept listening. They then asked to verify that I made a billpay and stated who it was being sent to, the note I attached to the payment, and the date I did it with the amount I sent. All I had to do was press 1 to confirm I made the payment. That was it, end of call.- Caller: Chase Bank
- FastdrumThis is not associated with Chase at all. I spoke to a rep who said they have no record of 1-800-366-1962 being in their phone book of departments and there was no fraud on my account.
- Moze| 1 replySCAM Called Chase and they said it was NOT their number...nor affiliated with them and NOT to provide them ANY information.
- Steve S. replies to MozeI also got a call today from them and did not call back. I called Chase's number on its website and Chase confirmed this is NOT a valid number and there were no issues with my account. This is definitely a scam. Always call the official Chase number first to verify.
- SalazarI just got a call from that number for the second time today. I picked up the second time I got the call and it indeed was Chase calling to confirm a large transfer I scheduled online. The automated system asked a few multiple choice questions to verify my identity (no pins or valuable information was asked), then it asked me to confirm that I indeed scheduled a transfer. After I confirmed the transfer was valid, it said thank you and that was the end of the call.

- WizardIt looks like they are back. Or somebody else has inherited the number. Got a call today. No message.
- WizardMy bad. I had been on page one and didn't notice there were more pages.
- JohnThis is NOT Chase!!!!
It's a scam- Caller: Chase Fraud
- dav-oGot the message, and called back, during the verification process they wanted my PIN. I've been told never to give that out, so declined, and hung up. Walked to the Chase branch and they indicated nobody from Chase would ever ask for a PIN. Also, no suspicious activity on my account. Phishing for data is my conclusion.

After this call has anyone had any true
problems with identity theft?- Caller: Chase
- Dustin| 1 replyAfter receiving multiple calls from this number, I finally called Chase directly. They confirmed my suspicions that it wasn't them who had called me, and it was definitely a scam.
- Caller: (Fake) Chase Fraudulent Services
- Dustin replies to DustinJust to add to my earlier post. Customer service direclty contacted the fraud department while I was on the phone, to which the fraud department verified that they had not contacted me.
This is 100% a SCAM!!! - jack replies to yolandaThat call is 100 % a scam, even if you see on the caller ID a chase number, they use spoof card or any other program like that which is a program that lets your caller see in the caller id of anything the scamers want you to see, and they give you a real chase number to call so you want know its a scam, there hope is just getting you to give info when they call you,
- PorterIt is a valid number. It is Chase Fraud in Manila, Phillipines. I just spoke with my banker and he says he can see that the Fraud team in Manila was in my account within the last 30 minutes.
