This was the # on my Caller ID that the above call came from, (supposedly)
A convincing-sounding voice mail was left, instructing me to call 866-242-6289, and enter code 7467782 by Nov 28th.

I got a call from this number and I'm not a Bank of America customer and they called an unlisted number that I've never given to any business and I've had this number for many years.  When they called my they did not identify their company, just that "my ATM card had suspicious transactions and may be suspended and I should call them."

This number is legitimate - From Bank of America - they call if someone has been taking alot out through their ATM, to make sure the card wasn't stolen or there's nothing fishy going on

This was an automated call from Bank of America's fraud alert department.  Seemed legit.

Legitimate call from BOA fraud department. A shipper had keyed in the expiraton date from the debit card incorrectly, so they tried a second and third time, causing a trigger in the automated system

I just received a call from this number and it's totally legit. As other posters said, it's Bank of America's fraud protection number. Once I entered my code into the automated system, it asked me to verify three recent purchases. I didn't have to give this info, they already had it. That's how I was completely sure the number was legit. And they may have changed their message since past posters, because when you call the number they clearly identify themselves as Bank of America. Just like the airports... a little extra security that can feel like a pain in the [***] at the moment, but I never mind it.

Just because they have info on recent purchases doesn't make it legit.  No bank would EVER ask you for personal info like your social security number over the phone.  I just received 4 calls from them today...kept hanging up...and am putting a call to Bank of America directly at the original customer service number

I am trying to get in touch with BOA now about a call I just received.  This may be legit but there are services out there that allow you to change your caller ID info.  In the wrong hands it would be perfect for a scam.

Actual phone number on the caller ID:  (062) 223-7840

I received yet another call from a very suspicious phone number that begins with an '062' area code & unknown name on the caller ID.  I answered it just so I could get information.  The girl I talked to was actually quite pleasant at first.  I asked her what the name of the company was & the real telephone number & she told me she worked for "Card Services" (yep, that was the name of the company) and then she told me the "real" phone number for the company was (800) 432-1000, which is the same number everybody else is saying belongs to Bank of America.  That number may belong to BOA, but somebody else is using it to try to scam people.

Anyway, she said it was not a sales call & the Do Not Call Registry did not apply to them & they were offering low interest rates to pay off your high interest rate accounts.  I told her I thought it was a scam & they shouldn't be calling unsuspecting people to try to steal their money & she got very angry, yelled at me, then hung up on me.  Legitimate call center representatives do not yell at potential customers; much less hang up on them.  They wouldn't have a job very long if they did.

Same day - another '062' phone number - "Auto warranty running out, please stay on the line" recording (I don't have a warranty on any of my vehicles).  I stayed on the line & "Brent" picked up the line & asked me for the make & model of my car.  Brent sounded like he had just smoked a big fat joint. As soon as I asked him what company he worked for, he hung up.

BEWARE OF CALLS COMING IN WITH AN "AREA CODE" OF '062' - these calls are not from another country that I can tell.  I read somewhere that they are fake phone numbers.

Ahh, technology - don't you just love it?  ha ha

I got a couple of calls from that number and the caller ID said "TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT," so I ignored them. Finally I answered and got instructions to call a (different) number because of suspicious activity on my bank card. I didn't call that number, but I called the customer service number on my card and they gave me a number for the Fraud Department, which was indeed different from the 800 number. It turns out there really was fraudulent activity on my card. They took care of it.

So apparently the number is legit. They said that sometimes their automated system makes the fraud calls. Whatever that means, it accounts for the odd company name on the caller ID.

someone called me said she was from bank of america. she wanted me e-mail them my passport copy for my accounts of bank of america. I am glad I refused them and did NOT provide them. She said they will accept the fax, but it is weird the fax number and different area code.......... anyway it is definitely not a bank of america number.

FYI! The following names and phone numbers........
    1) Jenny Pen (Pan? Peng?), 617-346-1761
    2) Miriam Boulay, 617-346-1018
    3) Byron Price, 617-346-0221

bank of america has something called a MATRIX. it is the amount that bank will allow you to overdraw. The bank will allow you to use your card when funds are not available. They target individuals who keep less than 200.00 average daily balance in their account. It costs the bank 275.00 a year to maintain you account if you keep less than that amount. they want you to overdraw so they can offset that account cost with YOU paying overdraft fees. I worked for the bank for 6 years....
