- Jerome replies to MichaelThe scammer is using BofA's number and it is a TOTAL scam!! Do NOT give them ANY numbers or you will be scammer out of your money! They call with blocked numbers and when I refused to answer after they tried with the 800 432-1000 #, they even called with my OWN CELL number! This is a VERY sophisticated operation and BofA security is working on trying to stop this scam, but when people get online (like you have done) and say this is legitimate, then the scammers will keep operating!

- ShermanI usually do not answer "blocked numbers" but Sat. AM I got a call and answered with" I usually do not answer a blocked number, but I will this time". I thought that you block your number, so I answered.
However, some lady said, "Is this (my cell number) "
I said, "What do you want?"....for no one ever asks that and it seemed very strange.
She said, "Is (my husband) there?" I asked why, because this is not his number and she said, "This is Bank of America and I need to speak to him."
I did not think it was really BofA as they had no reason to call and never call.
However, I put my husband on and she asked if that was he. When he said "Yes",she hung up.
I went online with BofA to see if they had not called.
Just then the phone rang again and it was also blocked, so I answered with, "I am on the phone with BofA now".
Instead a recorded voice came on and said, "We did not recognize your response, but please put in your BofA code so that we can proceed". With that I hung up.
This evening the phone rang and again the number was blocked. I did not answer.
I imagine I will continue to get this scammer again and again so I may have to cancel my cell phone number.
Well today I got a call from 800 432 1000 and I did not say anything, but looked it up online. Some idiots say it is the number on back of debit card. Well I wrote #?

- hmmm... replies to AnonymousYou could be the victim of identity theft: someone could have used your name and info to open an account at BoA, but they noticed something was fishy about it and now they're shutting it down.
You might want to check it out, because if that's the case, who knows what else is going on in your name. - mrm84107This is the Bank of America assistance line, as listed on the ATMs, debit cards, and on their website.
- JoeThis number might be a boa number but the person asking for my social sec number, birthdate, address and occupation is a scam artist! I don't even have a boa account! I think the people on here saying it's legit are part of the scam! Trying to lull us into a false sense of security. Nice try idiots!!!

- JoI just got a call from this number on my cell phone. I didn't answer it because I am working and I didn't recognize the number. They did not leave a voice mail. If this was really Bank of America, I don't know why they would be calling me. I do not have any bank accounts with them. Our mortgage is through BOA; however, they don't even have my cell number, so I have no idea why they would be calling me. Very strange.
- no name replies to paulI believe that it is a scam, becasue I do not have a bank of america account; they are asking for my debit card number which is with a different bank. They are not getting any info from me, I also got emails concerning my debit card being locked. I have no account with bank of america so if I give anyone my 16 digit account number to unlock it then poof all my money is gone and out into theirs. It may not be a scam for people who actually have an account with bank of america, but it is a scam for the ones of us who do not have an account.....
- Fraud callThis cannot be legitimate as I have never done business with B of A and never will because of their reputation.

- SabineThis morning, my caller ID indicated a call from BoA, with the number (702) 576-0456, leaving no message. I felt suspicious, but decided to call that number. An automatic voice came on, stating that if I had recent dealings with the BoA (which I had regarding a fraudulent charge on my card) I should call them at the 800 number above. When I called the 800 number another automatic voice came on, requesting that I give out the number of my account, which the BoA would not do. I hung up and called the fraud department of the BoA to report the case. The agent grew very concerned when I told him that according to what I had read online about customer complaints regarding the 702 number, used in combination with the 800 number, this scam has been going on for quite a number of years. He said that the 800 number is not theirs, and he would file a report with their investigation department. In my personal opinion we are looking at an insider job. There are too many cross-overs with the BoA altogether.

- DougI received a text from 73981 saying that my "authorization code is 076714 which expires in 10 minutes. If you didn't request the code, call 1.800.933.6262 for assistance". I called that number thinking that someone was trying to access my account. They took some information from me and said that someone would call me to correct the error. "Donna" called me from 800-432-1000 and asked me to call her back at 602-379-8681. I called Bank of America Fraud Department and they said that nobody had called me from Bank of America. I looked up the numbers on line and it says they are numbers from ATM machines in Virginia and Washington, DC. These people are trying to get your personal information for identity theft.
