NOT HP.  It's a fraud.  This is a total fraud and I reported the number to HP.  They try to get access to your PC and then they want you to purchase 2 $100 iTune cards so that they can use the serial numbers to fix your PC.  They claim that your PC has been hacked.

1-800-474-6836 - fact:   it is definitely hewlert packards only real phone number.

I am working on a fraud case from a fake h.P. Scam.   So, i know beyond a shadow of a doubt.  If you have any doubt, call 'best buy' and they will verify it for you!

It wasn't HP. It was a call forwarding spoof.  HP does not call this do not give your info away and if you get these kinds of calls tell them to FO

I believe this is a scam, fraud etc. Do not let them in your system, they pull you in first buy showing you  that you have corrupt files and your computer is hacked and will crash in 24hrs.  Then they try to sell you a replacement computer or anti hacker software.   Don't give you computer over to them and don't give you credit card information.   Don't talk to them be safe.

He called me about some infection in my HP computer. I know that this guy is spam . I asked for his address and phone number and insisted on it . He said "dont act too smart I know your name (said my name ) and used F work and hanged up " he is an [***] !

TWC (Time Warner Cable) gave me this number  800-474-6836 when their new modem would not connect with my old HP printer. They told me my 8 year old HP printer was too old to work with the new high speed technology of the new TWC modem and sold me a new reconditioned printer. When the printer arrived a week later the installation process was very confusing - asking about which drive I wanted to use. When I called the number for HP Support 888-836-6896 they told me I had a serious problem with my computer and ended up transferring me around and at some point I heard him say "Microsoft Certified Technician" and knew immediately I was being scammed and hung up  - I have had local techs out 4 times since. The printer works but not any better than my old, my internet is slower than ever,  & my system has been screwed up ever since- email does not work right (messages save disappearing or coming in in triplicate). The HP Printer Wi-fi is not secured automatically and local tech coming back tomorrow. This problem started on 5/20/16 and is still going on 7/24/16 GRRR I suggest everyone beware of TWC and avoid HP contacts on the internet.

I've received several calls a day from this number, usually with Hewlett-Packard as the caller ID.  I answered one: there was silence on the line and then an automated "good bye"  I then stopped answering the calls.  After receiving several calls, I called HP (at this number, it is a legitimate customer service number) and told them about my experience.  They said they had no idea this was happening and told me that if HP support calls, it would follow up with an e-mail if it was unable to reach you.

Hp Tech Support will not call you unless you have been in contact with them first and they will give you a call back time and date if they are to call you back for any reason this is a scam.

Agreed!! This is 100% a scam. HP confirmed this for me. HP said they will never call unless you request a call from them. Don't trust this number. If you have any doubts, and you have an HP computer, contact HP support via the number on their website to see if there is record of anyone from HP support contacting you. It's worth it.

I have since rejected this number in my phone. I still see missed calls from them in my call log but my phone never rings from this number. Phew!

What a coincidence.  Got a call from a scam number last night and today got a call from this 800 number both identifying themselves as HP representatives

This is 100% a scam!!! They call and make up a reason  that your computer needs to be fixed and to extend your warranty. Then they want you to push command 'R' which will give him remote control of your computer . then they upload a virus into your computer. They are the only ones who can remove it and you have to pay them 200 dollars in the form of an itunes or similar gift card

its an HP number but it's 100% not HP. I called HP and they said they would never ever call a customer unless they were contacted by you first
