What kind of software problem did you have? I got a call from this number and they offered me $199.99 to repair a software problem, but I was not having a problem. I called the number and spoke with a support technician who informed me HP would not call their customers. They would call back once a customer initiated a call, but they would not initiate the call. The tech informed me it was a spoof and asked if I had downloaded any software from the caller. I had not and was informed not to unless I had initiated the call. NOTE: the caller had the model and serial number of my computer. To me this was a tip off as I did not register the computer with HP. I perform most of my own repairs and upgrades. I bought the computer as a "bare bones" from a refurbisher, loaded the operating system and all the software myself.

I have been receiving REPEATED calls from this number, but I have had no connection with HP for a long time, and they have no reason to be calling me.

HP Tech Support following up on a call I had made the day before.

I receive calls and hangups from this number too many times to count. A man with a strong Indian accent says that HP owes me $ for overpayment of services, wants to get info for the rebate. I asked for a number to call him back, but he hangs up. HP has been aware of this scam for years, but does nothing to take them down. Won't be buying HP again.

A couple years ago HP was hacked, The hackers got limited information about HP customers; names, phone numbers, and products purchased. Someone else is calling said customers, with several reasons how they want to help them, with HP's support number showing on caller ID. HP support will not call you unless you call them first! Do not let them access your computer!!! Do not pay them for a service using a credit card!!! If in doubt, hang up and call the number, you will reach HP tech support!

This number with a man with heavy accent told me I was due a refund for the warranty I purchased because HP had technical problems, not my computer, HP Corp. He wanted me to
open a web site on my browser I sensed fakery and started to ask questions, like why can't HP fix it on their end, and if I am due a refund why not email me or just refund my credit card , why do I have to go into a website called www.supremofree ? I said I was busy and said I would call back
he said F+ck you and hung up. Totally fraudulent scam . BE CAREFUL!!

Caller ID showed " Hewlett_Packard"  I knew it wasn't legit - but picked up the phone anyway - yep I was right, a man with an Indian accent said HP had a refund check to send me. Ya right - told him I do not have any HP products and hung up on him. Block these IDIOTS  - the trick is they get your info - & tell you have a refund is for like $186.56 and while talking to him he says - oh I'm sorry I made a mistake and put a 2 in front of the 186.56 making it 2186.56  - and cannot change it - then they ask for your bank info so you can send them the $ back and you can keep the $86.56 - OR they want to hack into your computer.

I had to get in touch with HP tech support for a problem. They fixed it just fine but now I am getting may calls from 800-474-6836. Usually I get a survey either by my e-mail as to how they did or I get one after the service was preformed. I dont trust this number and will not answer it.

I just got a phone call from HP Support, I asked the guy how I could be sure this was legit, He side stepped the issue and said I had a refund, I said ok, send it to me, I then told him, I had no HP Desk or laptops, he then asked what kind of computers I had, I told him it was none of his business, I told him I would call HP and verify the conversation I had with this jerk. He hung up when I told him I was calling HP as we spoke.

THIS IS A SPOOFED NUMBER, (USING THE REAL HP TECH SUPPORT NUMBER) TO GET YOU TO ANSWER THE PHONE. HP WILL NOT EVER CALL YOU UNSOLICITED, WITHOUT FIRST HAVING HAD A CONVERSATION WITH YOU EARLIER.

Scammer spoofing Hewlett Packard's number. I've never owned a HP computer. I did not answer the call nor did they leave a message.

thought that they were from our companies technical support.  they said that they received an auto-mated error report.  I asked for their company ids and while I was checking it they hung up.  Looks like they are scammers or hackers.

800-474-6836 is a spoof number.  IT IS NOT HEWLETT PACKARD.  Received call today that I had malicious virus on my computer.  Wanted access to my computer.  NO WAY.  Hewlett Packard does not call customers to report a problem with your computer.   IT IS A SCAM.  DO NOT GIVE THEM ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER....AND....I don't have a Hewlett Packard computer!!

someone contacted me from this number saying they were from hp smartfriend

This is a scam we do not own and have not owned any HP devises the man on the phone informed me that just answering the phone I will be charged 399.00 for service contract ...hung up and now the idiot has called back demanding our bank information by no means give this company information on yourself TOTAL SCAM !

My wife and I called HP phone number: 800-474-6836  the representative told us to call the following number 1-800-334-5144 the representative told us to get assistance to set up our New printer to our new computer would cost us $200.00 – When I confronted this individual he hung up.  I called the same number again to speak with them again – another individual answered when I told him – he gave me another 844-554-2340  but when they answered I told them what happen they hung up !  HP has people working for them that redirect you to call other numbers – legal action needs to be taken
