- SarahThis is creepy. They called me twice and I asked them if they were legit. He acted like he didn't understand my question. I asked him to prove he is really with HP and he gave me my serial number off the back of my computer. Scary! Then he proceeds to tell me they will replace my computer with a new one for $100. I asked how that would work and he told me to go ASAP and get a target or ITunes gift card for $100 at the nearest store and call back with the 12 digit code and they will send me a new computer in 3 days. I don't care who you are but you had best believe HP won't offer to give you a new computer for $100. When I asked them why they would do this they replied, "we know your computer has had problems and there has been hackers on it". This is not real. Please don't fall for it.

- TomBeware this is not Hewlett Packard calling. It's a scam from India. HP had a data breech and I almost fell for the remote linking request. I hung up and called HP at their HQ in Palo Alto , CA. Much to my surprise I actually spoke to someone , who filled me in. The sad thing about all of this HP should of sent out a scam alert email, which they didn't. DO NOT REMOTE LINK as they will get your financial info and plant a maleware that will give them entry into your pc.

- Ang RieI guarantee this is a scam unless you called them first and they are returning your call. Scammers are "spoofing" a real HP phone number, but if they initiate the call, IT IS NOT HP. Hewlett Packard WILL NOT CALL YOU unsolicited. If you allowed them to access your computer, TAKE IT TO AN EXPERT NOW; you're in big trouble. The most important question computer professionals are asking is, "How do they know you own an HP?" We want HP to confess they got hacked or someone in their organization sold the information to these thieves. Most of the scams originate overseas (Pakistan, India, China, Russia, Ukraine, Indonesia, Yugoslavia, Egypt, Romania, Turkey, Russia, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Nigeria). They often uses "spoofing" software to imitate legitimate phone numbers. It is identical to the Microsoft Windows scam where they inform you "your computer has notified them there is a problem, but don't worry, they'll fix it." Sure they will...! They scam you in several ways: 1. If you give them access to your computer, they plant malware that they can later activate and hold your data for ransom. 2. They steal personal or financial data and use it to empty your accounts or for identity theft or to sell it to a gang specializing in identity theft. 3. They "fix" your computer or printer and then charge you; if you don't pay, they "crash" the device. 4. Then they try to sell an annual contract at an outrageous price. Please don't be foolish enough to listen to their scam; hang up immediately. They've made millions from it and will continue to harass innocent people until everyone knows about their schemes and they can't steal anything more.

- Gary replies to JD SeattleI get these calls several time a day, all week long and I never requested service or a call back. The number is 800-474-6836, a verified HP number but it is a fake number. They are scam artist using HP's number. Hang up on them.
- Gary replies to not noneDNC list is a scam also. A telemarketer buys the list and if your number is on the list, they are not allowed to call it. But what they have done when they purchase the do not call list, they have just purchased a list of working viable phone numbers because they know they can call all the numbers and will very rarely get caught. And if they do, there is no punishment. My scam calls increase ten fold when I added my number to the DNC list. Also my fax # was added also and now I have to keep my fax off because of the telemarketers calling my fax.
- LeylaThese people call every day about HP products. Unsolicited phone calls. Do not answer. I have no reason for them to call me at all. My spouse is a Police Detective. We have reported them to the proper authorities.
