We just received the same card Kelly received today for my husband's birthday which was May 1st.  I knew it had to be a scam and googled it to find all of the above comments.  Tx so much for commenting and am sorry for those of you who lost money from this scam.

You should know that there is no airline called US Airlines. (You might confuse it with U.S. Airways, which is a true airline.)

Link below is from a Milwaukee, WI Journal Sentinel.

This is a USA/Nigerian scam mailer & phone number. Worse even! they purchase name lists from places and try to scam you. They have any story you will listen to!! They want to give you something free and charge the hell out of your charge card for the free stuf! American Express sold my name to these scum. Cant trust anyone these days! Bring back lynching & watch it stop!

    Flying Free
It does not say US Airlines, as in the name of the company.  It says "Fly A US Airline".  It can be any airline they choose.

What caught my attention were the grammar errors.  "US" typically has periods after each letter, unless you are not from here and don't realize that.  They also forgot to put a space between the words ... properties in/the continental ...  Perhaps the proof reader, over seas, did not understand that "inthe" is not a word that means much to a traveler.

I was tempted to call just to post my findings, but playing a mindless computer game would probably be of more benefit than making the call.

    Not Even My Birthday
Received the mailer. Knew it was a scam, but the biggest tip-off was that it's not even close to my birthday. Going to call AmEx to complain.

I received this same letter referencing a round trip ticket for 2 anywhere in the Continental USA including a three day/two Night Getaway and a free $30.00 Dinner Card for Two to be used at any Red Lobster, Olive Garden, or Bahama Breeze.  All of this was just too good to be true so I turned to the internet and Googled it and found out it is a huge rip-off.  But there are those who think this thing is for real and lose their money...sad, sad!

I got a birthday card saying that I won two free airline tickets to anywhere in the world, 3 night/day getaway that can be used at Marriott properties in the US, plus $30.00 dinner card for two that can be used at Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc. I was to call this number to claim my prize.

If I respond to verify my birthday within 72 hours, I will also receive $300 grocery rebate and a $50 American Express gift card.

Forgot to add that I knew this was a scam--but the personalized card with colorful balloons was thoughtful. Don't fall for this.

Same as others, but what made me do a double-take on mine is that the voucher had a big American Express logo on it.  AmEx has been a great company for me and I have received/redeemed many rewards from them, so I thought "Is this AmEx?"  But then it dawned on me that it was a cheap photocopy of their logo and I googled the number and came up here. thanks to all.

    As If
"Congratulations on your Birthday" I didn't know that my birthday was an achievement. "$50 AMEX Gift Card, $300 Grocery Rebate, $30 Dinner Card, Two Round Trip Airline Tickets", who are you and how do you know it's my birthday? Must be my lucky day! It's great that in this economy they can afford to give these things away, who ever they are.
