I have received several offers for free airline tickets, Marriot stays, now a restaurant voucher and $300 Walmart gift certificate.  Just requires a $50 'refundable' deposit.  You can kiss that $50 good-bye if you are crazy enough to send it!  This goes in the trash.

After reading all the comments that are being posted, I am definitiely offended.
I did not recieve a phonecall! I did not recieve my award on my birthday! In fact, I got a mailing and it was even not associated with any personal event! Apparently this company is branching out.

The promotional award included 2 round trips to any major airport in the continental US, 3 days/2 night get-away at a Marriott Property, a $30,00 Amercian Express Card for 2, and an added $50 card and $300 Walmart card if I act within 72 hours. Man, I was psyched until the Walmart card bit; I am a Target person. It also came in a cheezy notification /photocopied flier. Things must be getting tough. Maybe I'll try to leverage 3 tickets and a targte Card.
    NOT! The Aceman says "Hoax".

Thanks to all the people who have taken the time to add their experience.  Got the same notice today, figured it was a scam, but was curious.

They wouldn't be doing this stuff if there was no money to be made.  The BBB report mentions people who actually ended up paying thousands for trip discounts.  I guess some people never learn.

The old axiom is true.... If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!!

    CONSUMER ALERT!!!

We have received a number of calls from people telling us they had received a call informing them they might have won a free trip.

After some digging I think I have found the source of these calls.  It is from a company in Plymouth Massachusetts, Only Way 2 Go Travel. The business is located at 225 Water Street, Bldg C, Suite 103, Plymouth, MA 02360. (Outrigger Vacation Club Plymouth Massachusetts also is listed at the same address.) The phone number is 508-830-0800, fax number is 508-830-0802, and the e-mail address is onlyway2gotravel@yahoo.com.

I did have someone call me who had attended the presentation at the address of Only Way 2 Go Travel, and told me that it is a time share presentation for Outrigger Vacation Club.  I was told that the cost of joining this vacation club is $10,000 and that there are other fees that go along with the membership.  I have no idea if this is correct information or not, I am just passing along the information that was shared with me.

I also found out that Outrigger Vacation Club is located at 1611 South Utica Ave., Ste. 219, Tulsa, OK 74101. The phone number is 877-572-0204, fax number is 877-572-0205.  I did talk to a person at that office who confirmed that Outrigger Vacation Club Plymouth is affilliated with them.

Remember, just like there is no such thing as a free lunch, there is no such thing as a free vacation, there is always a catch.

Same as all the previous posts.  I received one close to my birthday in August and another in October.  Funny thing is - they sent it to my parent's address in Texas (I live in California).  Addressed to me but with their address.  Looks like it was printed on someone's cheap printer.....

I got the same letter on the mail as well.   As a rule of thumb, if something is too good to be true, it's probably is a SCAM.  just google it in order to have peace of mind.   Thanks!!!

OK, folks, many of you are posting the exact same info, over and over.  We get it.  I, too, received it in mail.  DUH - of course it's a scam.  NEW info - they are also obtaining addresses from employment web sites on the Internet (meaning the legitimate ones).  November 2009 - they have a NEW number on mine - 800-514-2449.

I was able to find this site based on the phone number 800-507-5010....the confirmation number did not bring anything up.  This just goes to show how you have to be careful with your personal information.  I suggest anyone who received this immediately check their credit card, bank, and mortgage accounts and place fraud alerts with the credit reporting agencies.  I have already done so.  ESPECIALLY if it came even close, before or after, to your BDAY.  Its just my suggestion, but if someone knows to send you a scam around your birthday, please take a moment to consider what else they may know about you.

I did not get a call from this number, but I did get the mailer for the free trip, dining card and a $300 Walmart redemption certificate.  Seems to me that if this is a scam that the U.S. Postal Service would be interesteed.  And since this was a bulk mailing out of the West Palm Beach P.O. (permit #3950) should be easy for the P.O. to track them down with questions?  I think I'll forward the mailer I got to them to check on...

Before I even opened my letter, I knew it was a scam because it said "Final Notice" but had no information about who it was from. It was in one of those mailers that you have to tear off the side pieces, much like my property tax bills. (My theory is that the urgency of the message on the outside of the envelope and the appearance of being "official" are indirectly proportional to the importance of the contents.) Just a rough guess as to the worth of the "giveaway" was at least $1000. I would be suspicious of an outfit trying to "give" me $100, but $1000 is far beyond what any company will give away without some "return."

Unlike some others, I didn't trash the letter. I cut off my name and address, shredded those, and put the rest in my paper-recycling bin that will go to the local elementary school or the library, both or which earn money for paper recycling.
