Same story.  Call from 513-754-9822.  Voice message says something about "important personal business."  Call back number is stated as 800-545-1256.  I do have a Macy's card, but I just recently paid it completely down to 0, so I'm not sure what this could be about.  Sounded shady.  Not gonna call back.

    (follow up)

I just logged into my macys.com credit card account and found that I owed $167 on the "in-store" account #.  I **hate** this about the Macy's credit setup.  I signed up for one card, and instead I got 2 accounts with one physical card.  When I log in to make a payment it goes straight to the main number and I end up forgetting about the other, since it's "in-store" and I never actually buy anything at Macy's.  It was 3 months past due and they reported me to the credit bureau for delinquency.  Ugh.  I realize that technically this is my fault, but the lame 2-account setup that Macy's forced upon me definitely caused the confusion that led to the problem.  I have 9 credit cards, and this is the only one that behaves like this.

Also... for the record, I called the Macy's direct #.  Not 800-545-1256.

These people call, let the phone ring once and hand up, then call back, let it ring 3 times and hang up. This happens several times then they call and get the machine and leave a message "This is Mrs. Birchfield, I am trying to reach____ about an important business matter please call 800-545-1256". If it is Macy's they need to say so.

The phone number listed on the cell is the calling hub for Macy's Collections Department. 513-754-9822 then, they want you to call the 800-545-1256 number to resolve the issue with someone. They are the worst company for immediate calls if you are a couple of days late. Avoid it - put your account on auto pay and "forgetaboutit."

Caller ID reports call from 513-754-9822 asking for my wife about a business matter. They would not identify the company. I told them they could leave a message and they provided the 1 800 545 1256 number. The lady identified herself when asked again as Ms. Scott.

I received a voicemail at my office from someone by the name of Bruce (had accent.  He said please call 1-800-545-1256 regarding an important business matter.  My sense is, if this were valid, they would have indentified themselves, even if it was my work phone number.  I don't plan on calling back.

"Please contact us about an important business matter."

It was a legit call from Macy's card services.

I read on the news this new type of scam. They give information about your account number and if you confirm they obtain real address and account information for the scam.

calls every day at the same time.  i have a ZERO balance on macy's credit account.  believe whatever you want just DO NOT give your account # to them.  My belief: they are bogus and should burn in hell for scamming people--especially for calling elderly people who may not know better.

IF YOU THINK THIS IS LEGIT, they should already have your information and would leave a detailed message regarding the issue at hand not just " personal business matter".

I am in Kuwait. somebody named bessy McDonald called my mom in Florida looking for me.  My mom said that she called two times. My mom said that she asked the lady what she needed to talk to me about. The lady said that she needed to talk to me. She never told my mother anything else. My mom gave me the number. Its 800-545-1256. The lady is suppose to be in Ohio. I am getting ready to call Macy's to see what is the problem.

They call and ask to speak with someone in our household and say it's an important business matter.
But will not tell you who they represent.

Either quit calling or tell us who is calling!

They've been calling alot, so i looked into it and googled the 1-800 # and found this. I called Macy's but I don't have an account so they couldn't look into it. Try calling Macy's: 1-866-593-2543(Real Number!)

Just got a call from another #513-573-8739 asking me to call "800-545-1256 for Macy's" regarding an important personal matter.  I called the number and asked who I was calling.  They said they were a collection agency for Macy's and asked for my account number.  The (513) # is a residential land line in Ohio.  Last time I checked, Macy's doesn't make its employees call delinquent customer from their homes!  I did some research and this is NOT a Macy's #.

But the best clue was - my bill for $33 is not due for three more weeks! SCAM!
