did you leave a voicemail? how exactly did you get the option to go on their internal DNC list?

in general i dont have a problem with public opinion polling, but we should know who is funding the research so we can choose to or not to participate. this to me sounds like list building and i wont take part!

I created a contact called "unwanted calls" and keep adding numbers like this one to it. The ring tone is the sound of crickets, (which is about all they'll hear from me).  Used to get upset, now I don't Life is too short to get all worked up over the fact that someone I don't care to talk to just called me.

Whenever I hear crickets I don't answer, I just imagine myself sitting in a lawn chair watching the stars.....

These  companies are hired by your cell phone provider to increase your monthly statement.
The auto dialer keeps their staff costs down.
As soon as you answer the call the billing starts.
The recorded message is to keep you on line for further time charges.
I live in Vancouver and applied for work once and this was their sceme in 2000, making the calls to US. cell phone customers.
This must be very profitable since they can add a few $ to as many bills as they can get to answer.

The calls will never stop especially if you've answered one of their previous calls.

Please include a prompt "If you do not want to receive calls from us, say DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER.  I personally do not feel comfortable pressing any numbers in response to your prompts.  And I understand that some survey organizations are exempted from maintaining a list of telephone numbers that should NOT be called.  I visited the Federal Government web site https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/index-eng.

I agree with some of what you said, i.e., the call will affect your montly bill from your cell phone provider.  If what you said is true, I think we can ask the authorities to step in and investigate this "scam".  Let us start by revealing the name of the company you worked for or the company you tried to work for that used the scheme you stated here.

I understand your points, but I find the auto dialing technique quite dated for the year 2011.
Perhaps it may be time to innovate you methods. With such hostile responses to your approach, your survey results are tainted and the people who do not appreciate this way of communication. As a potential surveyee, "the experience of being disrupted" is not how to get people to cooperate. Why not try channels that people already belong to.

For example, I would be more open to answer this question online via one of my utility to telecom providers and if they offered a rebate or other bait.

Please WAKE-UP and research other ways to research !

p.s. hint : I have a voip line at home. I 'll tell you in writing, but never by phone.

If you are a valid business how about not blocking your caller ID
It is not 'transparent' to block your CID info - You come up as unknown.
Maybe then people will be less likely to think of you as a scammer.

I have received calls from this number before but never got to it in time so now that I know who it is I will never answer it - no time for this kind of balony so its time to nip this in the bud as it were.

Baloney!  These so-called links and phone numbers to call if you want to take your phone number off their phone list is just another ploy to get your information.  Also surveys are another way to get your personal info.  Unfortunately, there are so many scammers out there, I trust nothing that comes in on my phone line.  I block unwanted phone numbers by putting them in the penalty box for a period of six months.  LOLOL
